@Prodecessor981 You can easily tell by the sound of the truck that it is a 12 valve. Also you can make a 12 valve put down the same numbers as the 24 valve by just tweaking the stock components. I doubt more than 3 or 4 people have ever swapped a 12 for a 24. More people would swap 24 for 12.

First of all, you don't get a truck to race with it. It's to do work with.

So that being said, The durashit might be a tiny bit faster, because it's all plastic junk as oppose to the first gen which is all American steel.

But the thing we need to take from this is that the first gen will out pull that duramax any day... anywhere.

I work on all of them, they are all really great trucks.

I own the Duramax and in this video and it all it has on it is a edge tuner, exhaust and intake. Yeah there are some fast trucks out there and i know mines not the fasest but its fast and strong enough to get done what i need to get done and thats all that matters to me.. me and my friend were just playin around in this video i didnt even have it tuned all the way up..

I'm a Cummins guy, but Duramax is awesome too. I think often they're a lot faster with just a tune than Cummins, but now EFI live should help take care of some of that. Not sure what all the arguing is about here. And actually the Duramax has 397 hp not 395. There will never be anywhere near a stock 7.3 powerstroke that will keep up to a well tuned stock Duramax, if there is a want to see it!

Not saying cummins is bad, I have a first gen, but it is NOT easier to make power on. My lb7 has efilive, tranny, and lift pump at it dynoed at 531 hp. There are 7.3's over a million miles. The duramax is like, a decade old, who drives 100,000 a year? I know theres quite a few over 500k and one well over 700k.
