  • What kind of power supply do you use. I mean, I don't see any transformers in the pictures, and I can't imagine how a 9V battery can power a tube...

  • this is cool, but can you make an in depth how to video? and whats it sound like

  • This sounds bad, you need a cab simulator for this if youre running the preamp straight to the computer!

  • Nice work on the build, but that's an awful overdrive sound. Unless you're going for the whole Beatles "guitar direct to mixing board" tone. Then it's spot on.

  • @karlhouseknecht crank it and go for the "Revolution" tone?

  • Do you have the diagram?

  • @96lolstar

loop up "Matsumin's Valve Caster". Although Matsumin uses a 12au7 (lower gain) i'm sure that with a little tweeking of his design, the 12ax7 (higher gain) could be used.

  • what are your plans for this

  • 0:41 you can clearly see it's a PUBE overdrive!

  • do you have schematics??

  • too much gain...sounds harsh

  • Looks like a 'starved' voltage design, sounds like a 'starved' voltage design, especially if running on nine volts DC. Needs good high voltage step up supply to get that little bottle cooking.

  • I really like the concept if for no other reason than this: Preamps are SO dependent upon the tubes in them. Now here is one where the tube can be changed in a few seconds.. This is very convenient. I like this alot!!!!

  • @sustayne Thanks!

  • Uh, an exposed tube on a pedal box? That's not going to last long!

  • @TeddtheTiger *power surge*tube explodes* FUCK MY EYEEEEEEE

  • @EmperorofCartoons I was thinking more like someone mistaking the tube for the pedal itself, but that works too ;)

  • very sweet tone. god job!

  • @brett2525 Thanks!

  • @brett2525 GOD HAS A JOB HAHA

  • cool! song?

  • @ubuntupokemoninc

The Beatles - Let it be

  • Good job! little flat though... :)

  • I bought a similar kit thru ebay a year ago or so. Maybe from you, because the blue jacks look the same. What type wall wart should be used for this kit?

  • Nice stuff!

    Sounds quite nice.

  • "Yeah I'm rockin, time for some kick ass overdrive!" *Crunch* "Shit."

  • Where'd you learn how to do this?

  • How did you record this? It sounds decent, but a little flat-- I'm assuming you did it directly to a DI box? Perhaps a SS amp?

I can hear the potential of the pedal, something just sounds dead in it.

  • @gibbyhibbies

Thanks for your opinion, I will try to record a new video

  • I would like to have one of these. Where does one get it?

  • Beautiful tone indeed!

  • do you sell the kit without the box?

  • @wijayaj

    US$20 without the 12AX7 Tube

    US$30 with the 12AX7 Tube

pay by paypal , postage - appr. $15 depand on country.

  • @emarkhk

do you sell it via ebay?

  • do you sell the kit without the box?

  • very nice smooth overdrive

  • how do you overdive a valve without stripping the anode??? does the grid go positive to the cathode?

  • selling the kit for 45 bucks when the materials w/o tube is less than 10?... RIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP look up Valvecaster schematics on google.

  • @hpcompaqd530FFS

Um... a kit, with an enclosure and a custom PCB with tube socket. For less than $45? Please, that's a steal. Unless you're using used parts and a makeshift enclosure, building a pedal for under $10 is simply a fantasy.

  • @hpcompaqd530FFS

your crazy bro, pedal chassis alone will cost you $45. Thats probably the best deal i've heard of. PCB, Parts, Chassis, Tube. Nice deal, not at all a rip off. Switches will run $7-10 alone.

  • where you got the box from ? I wanna build a pedal and i have no idea where from can i buy pedal box .

  • why didn't you used a microphoned guitar speaker for recording?

It seams to be recorded directly.

    bye

  • try a pedal with a 12k5 tube. its a low voltage tube that sounds absolutly great.

  • Do you have schematic of 12K5 tube effect? Thanks!

  • and the tubes are only $4-$6 each

  • 9v ain't enough to heat a tube

  • Actually, the heaters in most tubes are run at 5-6.3vAC (sometimes DC). It's the plate that's run at a high DC voltage (usually upwards of 300). As long as the plate is more positive than the cathode, which is usually grounded or connected to a resistor to ground (i.e., the cathode sits at 0 volts or just above that) electrons will travel from the cathode to the plate. Unfortunately, running at 9v doesn't leave you a lot of headroom for the input signal at the grid.

  • Allow me to re-phrase. It sounds like crap.

  • it doesn't sound to bad...but the best way to replicate a tube overdrive is to go and buy a tube amp.

  • yes it is. i has a 6.3 volt heater. it is also posible to run almos any tube whith even a 5 volt plate voltage, just dont expect much out of it. i got a 6av5ga tube working on 12 volts, and its rated to a 400 volt plate, but id only puts out about 10 miliwatts( just a little more than the actual gutar puts out)

  • Kit is US$45 with Box. Please email me.

  • I thought I read Pube Overdrive. Sounded a little teenaged. =)

  • haha

  • Hello, I verry intersting for this homemade overdvrive.

Can you tell me where I can found this pedal's shematic or more informations.

    Thanks !

    Guillaume

Ps: Sorry for my very bad English , I 'm Belgian who speak french.

  • I'm selling this pedal kit at US$45 with Silk Screen printing box and everything need. Thanks!

  • I'll buy one. Send me some info please. I won't need the case though.

  • Where do you get the kits?

  • @emarkhk Do you still have these for sale?

Please let me know at legionosh@msn.com

    Thanks!
