Anyone who wants to watch HD content on a DVD for starters. Blu ray>HDDVD. It's a better technology and has now won the format war. HD content is all about capacity, and HD DVDs simply can't match up to what Blu Ray has to offer.

I work for Best Buy, I can say that Blu-Ray is clearly beating HD-DVD. Not only outselling but larger shelf space for new movies. They messed up with Betamax but bluray will be different.

There IS no difference in video quality between the two formats. At current time, they are compressed with the same codec at the same settings, and both formats can go in excess of 200GB of storage, depending on the number of layers on the disc. Storage is moot. Quality is moot. So what's left?

the most noticeable difference is when all the simpsons episodes are on a single blueray, compared to the HD-DVD which will hold only half of them, OR half the bitrate which is much lower quality.

trust me, HD-DVD will get old real quick. especially later on when you'll be able to get either of them at roughly the same price.

I think I'm gonna stick to my 50GB blueray discs. what's the point of having HD-DVD? just because they are cheaper? they are about the same price per GB overall. if you are a cheapskate, just stick to your normal DVD's, but why go from A to B when you can go from A to C.

HD-DVD does give better picture qualily because All its Disc are incoded with VC-1 compression technology where blu-ray uses the old mpeg4 technology a lot of the time.
