  • england australia?

  • @CGiordano464 South Africa

  • finally some decent footage of a garrett at work well done that man

  • Thanks farriery, as you can see from the comments it is a very steep grade and there is no holding back, the loco has to be working at maximum.

  • Six of us from The WHR were out there to help support the Cosmos festival. The others were all qualified Firemen and Drivers both on the WHR and some on main line Steam. For my own part I help restore our South Sfrican Wagons to SAR condition. But out there I fired for 11 days on everything from a kerr Stuart little wren, The lawley, NG 15 and NG16 a sharp learning curve for some one who has no rail background. But oh what fun!!!!

  • Ahh - even better than part one!!!

  • Always put the tempter first......

  • Very special video that Ralph. I'm turning green with envy as I type...

  • Hi there

Fantastic video, it's great to see the real version of my Accucraft live steam model !!!

    Awesome sound

  • Awesome shots! I hope you'll get to see the WHR sometime.

  • wow, now if the WHR's garretts work that hard there will be some impresive videos to be had and alot closer too.

    Cracking video

  • I've not been to the WHR yet so I cannot compare but I doubt if their gradients are as severe as these were. I was told that on a previous run when I was elsewhere they did not take as much run and stalled just where my camera position was.

  • If I am right that part of the track is 1 in 13 easing to 1 in 30. Not surprising that 7 bogie wagons would stall there if no run up. On the other side last year climbing Pandora bank we had NG 16 with NG 15 on the front and stalled but this was with 16 boggie wagons. The2 nd attempt we made it. but there is a very sharp curve right at the foot of the climb and this prevents crews from taking a propper run at it. Gradient there is 1 in 35 , 1 in 26 1 in 30 leading to 1 in 23

  • oopps! that should read 26 bogie wagons not 16. Also Welsh Highland s worst section is 3 miles of 1 in 40 and an NG16 is expected to take 10 bogie wagons / coaches up that.

  • Thanks for that Wagin4h, what were you doing over there last year??

  • V Impressive!
