Cronkite was a liberal progressive commie forerunner that contributed to the tearing down of America's support for the troops fighting in Vietnam. We all know that Johnson and the politicians skrewed up this whole thing and didn't know how to fight to win and let our military do what they do best......win.
in fact a wise investor would take advantage by purchasing US dollars when they are cheapest then waiting for some chinese empirical wannabe sentiment to kick in and bail them back out... people made some hefty profits you know. <<<<<< ( me )
the united states is the world economic juggernaut, the US economy has a direct impact on world economy and since it IS the current world reserve currency , it also has the sway to produce and consume more than anyone else. Its a super size nation, but for intensive purposes that's only a good thing for other countries doing business with "fatty"... literally the best thing to happen to a country like china or canada, so why are you complaining? Just don't live in the states or invest there...
You also have to understand there is no concrete number on how many US dollars are circulating at any given time. Retirement funds and private holdings in offshore interests and foreign investments are not accounted for in the GDP, you touch on a gray area when you assume everything can be read out on paper. You might be a banker, but you're a poor economist if you beleive the retirement of the boomer generation won't change greatly the landscape of the american economic forecast... You are lost
Who do you propose would become the new world reserve backing? the EU? not with the euro in the state it is, and any sort of "oil dollar" between the eastern major producers would be economic suicide ( for the entire globe ) considering futures in oil are constantly being raised in price as new technology initiatives slowly phase out oil in both transportation and manufacture of goods and product. There is no suitable replacement for the US reserve at this time...
No actually , the entire world currently runs on an American standard. That five trillion dollars of chinese debt is the very reason the chinese would never decide to offload the american interest , simply because their entire country is running off the US dollar and will be , for a very long time.
and lets be real here, when it comes to conventional force vs conventional force, the biggest defining requisite of every battle is how many you kill versus how many you lose, in comparison to objectives taken, whether that be land, or destruction of a specific entity...or collusion between sides.
so even with trillions owed to the chinese, the Americans are still the number one global superpower. Who do you think heads NATO? Wherever the UN goes, American troops take the lead... The best information technologies in the world come from the United States. American universities rank best in the world. The only true remediation is healthcare and insurance in the states. If they could follow a canadian system of tax-funded healthcare that covers basic health and medecine , they would be gold.
I would say if anything, capitalism is everything communism tried to be and failed, as though communism is sound in theory, it obviously never panned out for the countries who followed it. Socialist countries are weak and ultimately a drain on world economy, they export less and import more, they don't agree with republican ideaology and therefore work against any sort of democracy within or outside the country ( political ties ) and infighting is common. ex-communist countries are joining NATO.
and the funny thing is no matter what you say about capitalism, its working. EVERYONE is turning to capitalist systems. Deny that and I will have everything I need to end this arguement fully satisfied that you have not the brainpower nor the understanding of civility in the modern post empirical world to cope with the truth. Grasp unto yourself this concept that above all else , patterns of growth and intercommunication between the most powerful of nations must be absolute, struck in stone.
even native tribes killed eachother... The british showed up and what did they first do? spread wealth and traded to barter their way onto what they considered un-sovoreign land. They knew they were aliens to these people so they tried to work with them to secure the colonies. People had not time to waste over politics when they are spending every valuable second working, just to sustain the survival of the colony. When native wars threatened the colonial alliances they defended themselves.
not only that but my arguement is fully supported on itself in that all ex-communist powers are converting to capitalist systems, with ex-soviet countries like belarus and ukraine even opting for a spot... Your arguement is moot because the world already proved me right. Communism is a flawed system that failed and will never resurface in a developed country.
At least the capitalist system gives equal oppurtunity to better oneself, and you act as if we don't have social support systems to aid those less fortunate... Communism is dead. As I said earlier it only survives in countries that must either continue to operate as communists or cease to exist, literally and entirely. And you cant even begin to say communism isn't an enemy of all things republican, because the cold war is hard evidence of tension between what would have been two warring nations
and if you ever asked why the american system brought them to where they are, the global superpower, backed by a world reserve currency, the answer is right in front of you and I'm writing it right now. CAPITALISM WORKS.
fortunately for me we were on the other side of the revolutionary war, but it doesn't mean I don't observe and applaud the capitalist system for what it is. It was built by the hands of the strong, and the free. They valued honesty, integrity, dignity and hard work. Whether or not there was corruption is irrelevant to the man working in his farm, or the soldier marching to fight for his independance and that of his family. You forget that the Americans were once just like the "north" vietnamese.
And I find it hilarious that you would even begin to class the waffen SS or the taliban with any US organisation, army or otherwise...Whether or not they were sentimental soldiers is irrelevant, the fact is they fought on the side labelled AXIS OF EVIL, by the rest of the world, which pretty much subjugates them to being stamped out by the allies, regardless of who was involved. The United States obviously had no interest in fighting the germans until the japanese came along and bombed our shit.
and by the way you can talk all the garbage you want about conspiracy this, conformism that... but at the end of the day the conflict is still being waged , and nothing you say will ever detract the sentiment of the laotian, cambodian and vietnamese that don't support communism, and would literally fight and die in an effort to secure a capitalist system for their friends , families, and the future generations to come.
ho chi minh's unified vietnam is as much of an intrusion on the non communist vietnamese people as the french colonial reign was. One dictatorship was simply traded out for another. True freedom lies in capitalist freedom, and no matter how corrupt it is and how many people have to suffer to accomplish a stable capitalist economy, so be it. It's much better than living in a dictatorship or a monarchy. If you don't like it you're free to join the commis or worse yet some non descript dictatorship
at the very least, the pro capitalists made it a hell of a pain in the ass to gain control of south vietnam. Those lives you claim lost ( relative to two million, not three + as you state constantly ) were as much the responsibility of the NVA and pro communists as they were casualties of american incursion. The VC, not the coalition, broke the Tet cease fire , and killed thousands of civilians. They personally lost over fifty thousand of their own in taking saigon and hue. You are sadly misled.
the problem is the communists were pro chinese red vietnamese people. When the vietnamese themselves were divided, so you can't just try to blame "Americans" or "Communists". The political structures observed left literally those two options. Capitalist or Communist. When pro commis started killing pro capitalists, the pro capitalists asked for help from western govts, who were obviously quite willing and jumped at the oppurtunity to send advisory council commisions into asia to help fight reds.
and if you think about it , they technically did decide their independance. Ho chi Minh was a vietnamese man, he and his pro communists were vietnamese... I would ask, what do you consider independance? Whether foreign bodies fought in vietnam or not is well beyond the matter of question. The question beckons , 'what is freedom'? They had a major dispute to settle between pro republicans and pro communists. Technically they did decide their own independance. Communists occupied vietnam first.
they used many of the brutal scare tactics seen in post war afghanistan today, by the taliban... In fact the pre taliban mujahideen used tactics derived from what was learned studying communist guerillas during the vietnam war. The russians took notes right out of the communist vietnamese playbook by slaughtering tribes who don't support them and declaring themselves "liberal fighters of peace and religion", sans the religion part. Don't try to make it out to be some sort of corrupted conquest..
And the north could have pushed the western backed south out of power in south vietnam had they amassed a 2.5 million man movement against the coalition, as they had done to the french prior to their exit in '55... The korean war itself highlights the fact of necessity in a situation like the vietnamese liberation movement prior to American intervention... Hot wars that extend from the cold war are nominally civil, but strictly defined as conventional in most aspects. Viet Minh were terrorists.
not only that but the soviets had advisors fighting with anti french and anti capitalist forces long before the united states set foot in country. The entire conflict was a stop on communist expansion into the asias, not a conquest. Long before nixon and vietnamization, the country was nearly free of american forces albeit military advisory council and CIA operatives spying on soviet backed chinese and korean forces in contact with the ho chi minh cabinet and the red-backed viet minh. circa 1955
"It wasn't anything except each other" Nice line... Maybe someday the Americans will understand that that is true for every force including the the NVA and the Waffen SS the German Wehrmacht, Those men fought the same way, and yet the US called the Waffen SS a "criminal organization"...and Vietnamese "gooks". .The Vietnamese fought for the freedom of their country. LBJ was a war criminal. Most of those 3,100,000 lost Vietnam dead were his victims. America had no business there.
@GodlessMartyr666 That, my overbearing American friend was for the Vietnamese to decide and not the Americans!! Has it occurred to you that it was AMERICA THAT FED THE INDUSTRIAL POWER INTO STALIN'S COUNTRY TO FIGHT AGAINST THE ARCH-ANTICOMMUNIST (HITLER) AND THEREBY SUPPORT COMMUNISM LIKE NOTHING ELSE COULD???? It made prisoners of Central and Eastern Europe ONLY possible with vast American industrial help. They suffered for half a century thanks to America.
@historatia vietnam was a french colony until 1955. The pro communists saw an oppurtunity of interest. Ho Chi Minh beckoned the united states for help BEFORE he turned to communism. He studied in east harlem. Learn historical fact before you spew judgement and hearsay about events which are beyond you. Dien Bien Phu was the rice paddie of all rice paddies and for it to fall into non republican , or worse, communist hands... was not an option. It was a hot war extension of the cold war.
@GodlessMartyr666 Let me "spew" my judgement on things that are NOT beyond me! (1) I KNOW the historical "facts". At its core the Vietnamese wanted INDEPENDENCE. (period!) They came ever so close in getting rid of their French overlords when teh Americans DECIDED TO MIX THEMSELVES IN, AND DID SO AS AGGRESSORS to bring it into the American sphere aka, American dependency and colony. Why?? Allowing the Vietnamese their INDEPENDENCE was ALWAYS the ONLY option. ....
@GodlessMartyr666 Your patronizing nonsense ASSUMES that the US had the "right" to interfere to DENY the independence of another people. Even Robert McNamara now acknowleges it as having been a horrific mistake. (And please, don't start down the BS "domino" propaganda unless you want to take FULL responsibilitty for the DISASTER OF CAMBODIA, -- ALSO BROUGHT ABOUT BY AMERICAN INEPTITUDE.)..
@GodlessMartyr666 ....Why didn't the US line up behind Ho rather than fight him? Why didn't the US go against the tyrannt Batista and work on the side of the Cuban people? The US is NOT a Mother Teresa trying to help the world, but an avaricious empire that took the Spanish colonies and then moved to take over the French. The US is HATED because it was willing to "divide" the world between itself and the USSR, with BOTH denying others their RIGHTFUL INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM.
@historatia well no shit, it wasn't for the betterment of mankind or to bring peace and prosperity in vietnam... Like I said , it was a STOP ON COMMUNISM. For the rice paddies in Dien Bien Phu to fall into communist hands ( chinese reds, not russian... ) was unthinkable. Do you have any idea how detrimental it would have been if they had captured the valley without losing about 2 million of their nationalist army to secure it? Commi asia would have conquered all republics... PREVENTATIVE ACTION.
@GodlessMartyr666 That's complete nonsesne Godless, absolute Americcan propaganda rubbish. Go to the vids where even arch war-crininal (by his own admission) Robert McNamara admits that it was all a collosal mistake and "we see it all differently and more clearly now". But Americans killed 3,100,000 Vietnamese with their then false view of the world. Stop Chinese communism? Whoa!! Americans OWE these people about 1/2 year of GDP because they are beating up in the US in economic matters.
@historatia would you rather have let the communists simply crush the pro capitalists without even a fight? There was a reason the french stopped trying to keep their colony in vietnam... The communists were on a conquest to gain control of everything and secure the rice paddies for red use. This , is absolutely unacceptable. The amount of rice produced in Dien Bien Phu would have guaranteed strong material ( food ) supply for communist armies which would have conquered ALL of asia and the east.
@GodlessMartyr666 Look Godless, you have a FIXATION in the "communist" thing. I don't! (I'm and economist by profession). Many countries can NOT make the market system work, they are all entitled to use the communits "rationing" system to gain economic development if they so choose. It is NOT the place of the US to kill millions of its fixations!!! Just understand that the US has done that for decades and killed millions. Its criminal.
@historatia if the united states had never even sent a single advisor to help the pro capitalists, the country would still have been in great turmoil. In fact I would go so far as to speculate the conflict would have been much worse had a superpower like the west not stepped in to curb what was effectively a takeover of the country by fundamentalist commis. Being an economist doesn't mean shit to me, in fact I feel it may even make you more jaded to the truth, it was a hot extension of cold war.
@GodlessMartyr666 I personally am VERY right of centre for the circumstances in which I live, but I understand that one theory does not fit all! Do you think Cuba would have high literacy and good public health today if the American fruit companies still owned the place, and the gangsters still owned the hotels to turn young Cuban women into whores for American tourists? Get Real. Your system doesn't work so well either, so stop FORCING it through military means. Clear?
@historatia again, cuba is communist, therefore it must be supressed. But that sort of sex tourism is actually much more rife in Europe, and the sex tourists are largely from neighboring countries or wealthy businessmen from asia and the middle east. You are citing common facts of life that hold no tenure to true corruption. The entire world is corrupt to a huge extent. You think Americans and the capitalist empirical system are to blame? give me a break... Egyptians owned slaves. Live with it.
@GodlessMartyr666 There it is again, this FIXATION with communism being "evil". It's not, it replaced allocation by market with allocation by ration, and in some circumstances (even in the US) its is a necessary mechanism to prevent disaster. Egyptians owned slaves TRUE (but those that built the pyramids were NOT slaves). Guess what the AMERICANS OWNED SLAVES! Did you think of that? As you say, "Live with it".
@historatia I do live with it, but I also drive a cadillac and make 80 grand a year,. I beleive in honest work and circulation, communism is both lazy and abhorrent to a real working man. Communism is a setback, and largely abolished at this point. Only third party nations that observed communism in the bloc era and slightly post are still communist. Communism is not evil, but capitalism is a direct competitor to it we and must effectively control or destroy it to continue on as we need to now.
@historatia I'm not saying capitalism is perfect OR communism is evil. I was born and raised in a capitalist society that values hard work and integrity, and while you can preach all you want, living conditions in this country are MUCH better than ANY communist state could provide. I live in Canada, for your information. We observe many similarities with the American system of political capitalism yet retain many of our empirical monarchist habits set upon by the english, as we were a COLONY,...
@GodlessMartyr666 Well then, since you are living in Canada, surely you must recognize that when the whites came here to rob the land and its resources from the natives, there was a whole HALF CONTINENT that we Canadians could develop (exploit) and share to live off the land. Compare that to Cuba where 10 million (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver TOGETHER have to live on that tiny island) with no oil resources of James Bay projects. Now try comparing this!!....
@GodlessMartyr666 ...German central Europe in the 1850 -- still agrarian -- could NOT feed itself, and its population surpluses as the industrial revolution drove people off the land. (Britain same thing). Now what would "capitalism" do with that? Communism enforces rations to keep people alive. The Brits had the native land to steal and send surplus populations to (and we Canadian immigrants are SURPLUS populations from Europe). Capitalist society values stole the land from our natives. ....
@historatia In this world, you are predator or prey. There is no neutral ground. Kill or be killed. The weak will not survive. We didn't "steal" the land from natives, it was never really theirs to begin with. They crossed an ice bridge (an ocean) in the ice age and ended here. You could say they stole the land from the animals that lived there, they hunted and killed them and "raped" their lands by settling. At some point you just have to accept the fact that this shit had to be done, and was.
@GodlessMartyr666 OK. Then I understand you. You subscribe to the Hitlerian view that there will always be war among the races to control the (according to Thomas Malthus, 1776) limited resources of the world. Your beliefs are at the core of Naziism. . That justifies the US killing 3.100,000 Vietnamese? I SO NOT think it "had to be done" but "it was". You're crazy! So now that China and India are forcing Americans with their vaunted private capitalism off the cheap oil resource, OK?
@historatia now you're a complete hypocrit, go read your first comment on this page... War itself is nature, monkeys kill and eat eachother in the jungle, as we did thousands of years ago. As I said, if you can't accept that those who don't fight proactively to secure their survival then you truly are a brainwashed patron of modern civilization. You would do well to read up on cynissism, because when I contrast this comment to the one I first replied to yesterday I am apalled and disgusted by it
@GodlessMartyr666 Hypocrit? Nonsense. Of course I would fight for my survival and have done so. More important is that I understand the distinction between police-type military action directed towards human rights based "civilization" as the necessary war to blast out of existence those who take the "monkey eat monkey" approach to life, because they destroy "civilization". In other words don't walk in front of my modified Kalash too carelessly.
@historatia Fortunately for capitalism , elitists ensure military budget spending and creation of technological advancement programs are at our disposal to make your cheap poorly built russian rifle turn to dust, along with you and everyone around you. At the end of the day , extremism is still the less-than one percentile, and the developed world will always work against setbacks like communism. The system is by no means perfect , but it beats the fuck out of a communist or islamic shit hole...
@GodlessMartyr666 Yup... Actually the modified Kalesh is Czech or Slovak built and not about to turn into dust. Modified capitalism will indeed do that, but your "monkey eat monkey" extremist model will not., and cannot work. You haven't learned the essence of Adam Smith's great work (The Wealth of Nations, 1776). You should educate yourself some time to what capitalism really is. Also go study Religion and the Rise of Capitalism by Tawney. Your ignorance embarass capitalists like me.
@historatia you truly are the worst sort of hypocrit if you beleive yourself to hold any sort of capitalist ideal whence you would shit all over the very basis of what makes any capitalist system what it is, the ability to conquest solely on the back of a military complex revolutionized and sponsored by hard working , honest, good people who strive to advance themselves and their fellow men. Empire is as Empire does. This is how the world works, unfortunately. Just be glad you aren't an african.
@GodlessMartyr666 Capitalist "ideal"? just what is that? I trust that you are not aware the Marx's great work (3 Volumes) is titled "Das Kapital", and represents the core of communist economic theory. The first comprehensive source of the private enterprise system -- often just called "capitalism" -- in that of Adam Smith to which I guided you. Your conception of it is utterly nonsense. Free Enterprise does NOT need military conquest to support it. That's a load of rubbish.
@historatia Now you are trying to put words into my mouth. I never once indicated a need for the military complex. It enhances our ability to operate. If you need lithium , go get it. If 90% of the worlds opium supply comes from a single country, obviously it would be worthwhile for any and all US pharm companies to lobby behind the curtain for an occupation of said country. This is how the system works, and while I'm not saying its right to do, it is effective. Communism is dead, get over it...
@historatia and again, no matter what you want to say about the system in place, it works. It was a common fact during the second world war that a military industrial complex pushed nations involved in the war into an economic fastlane of sorts, not only that but it boosted the core strength of the United states army, navy and air force to world superpower status, and brought the north americas into the age of technological revolution. Sure, we stole german tech, but if we hadn't, others would.
@GodlessMartyr666 The "system" of capitalism does not need war and conquest of other people's and their lands to work its magic. In fact, such an economic system when allowed to operate is beneficial for ALL participants, avoiding war, but "American capitalism" seems to prefer the violent course of conquest . Superpower status? With the US military loss to Vietnam to the shambles of Iraq and now its ENORMOUS and growing external debt to other countries says otherwise...
@historatia debt or no debt, the world reserve currency is still US dollars and federal gold. They may owe trillions to china but the chinese will need american allegiant export futures if they ever want to survive... Who do you think consumes all of the chinese crap coming from cheap labor indusion? It's american companies fuelling the chinese factories that send their business to north america. Without american interest, there is no cheap labor in china. When nobody is buying, cost goes up...
@GodlessMartyr666 Good God Godless. Its clear that you are not keeping up with the economic news. The G-20 --starting in Toronto and accelerating in Korea -- is headed toward creating currency baskets to replace the US Dollar. Theat means that the reserve which is formed of the 31 TRILLION of Cumulative excess of US Imports over Exports has to be REVERSED and the US will have to find 31 TRILLION in export surpluses to pay it out. Good Luck to you and your deadbeat state. ...
@historatia unfortunately the federal reserve holds so much gold you will never be able to take the reserve back out of the US dollar, unless you can somehow synthesize gold and make it worthless.
@GodlessMartyr666 Your a nut case. The world is not on a "gold standard", and the US gold reserves are NOT huge. As of the end of 2009, the US Government held 261.5 million ounces which, at $1,100 per ounce is $288 billion dollars. Not THAT, is TRIVIAL against the debts. China alone holds over FIVE (5) TRILLION of US Government debt, or 18 TIMES as much as your total GOLD RESERVE. As I said. You know NOTHING about how this works. Nations with OIL reserves, for example have WEALTH.
@GodlessMartyr666 The SMALL country of Norway (population 4 million) has foreign investment holdings (not "reserves") of OVER 230 billion OVER 80,000 per person. The US has 3.6 Trillion so only a pitifull $12,000 for each of its 300 million people. Giving over ALL your foreign investment and all your Gold pays of less than 1/6 of what you OWE.. and you CAN'T make that debt 'worthless' because worthless money won't buy oil, etc. You'll be back in to stone age!! Good luck you near bankrupt!
@historatia I never once said the debt could be payed off, so why do you act as if I had? The problem is the forex is based on gold in europe and the US, and since the US dollar is the current world reserve currency, everyone is doing business in US dollars. Printing money is necessary to keep circulation up so inflation doesn't occur at astronomical rates and destroy the economy. The united states controls 90% of the world opium poppies in afghanistan and are routing US backed pharm companies.
@GodlessMartyr666 Because I say that if the world moves to a different reserve system then it MUST be paid off. The US dollars become NON-RESERVE financial holdings that noone will want to keep because the risk is FAR to high against a T-bill rates FAR to low... With the US only 20% of the worlds PPP indexed GDP, its SHRINKAGE and declining US living standards make room for others (Chinese, India, other Asians, Eastern Europeans on the rise...
@GodlessMartyr666 You don't have to like it, but the 95% of the worlds population that is NOT American will not find it too diffucult to absorb and use the resources that the gluttenous US economy is using now! The whole world is preparing that readjustment now, and at the Korea G-20 they (China and Germany) REFUSED the bailout that the US demanded and warned against the "quantitative easing" beyond agreed limits. (Germany recovered without deficits. Did you notice?)
@historatia Germany is a tiny country with a small population which produces incredibly expensive niche items. Everything they produce is over engineered and expensive. They have such high standards that those who do purchase their products have grown fond of their reputation for producing exceptional goods. Niche markets rarely fail. Did you notice they also rebuilt the entire country ,twice, and successfully rose up out of two world wars that effectively stifled them from the rest of the world
@GodlessMartyr666 Yes I've noticed. Since I started life as a German and still have interests there I have watched how the did it. They practised THRIFT, extremely WISE investment, (Germany today uses/imports LESS oil than they did in the mid-1970's. Germany gets over 15% of its electricity from solar panels on homes. The US? a joke! Germany practises EXTREME governmental fiscal prudence. The US? In 2009 for every $100 spent (federal/state/local) government collected only $57. Total disaster.
@GodlessMartyr666 You have your proportions all mixed up. The US is 5% of the worlds population that is VERY DEEPLY indebted to the other 95%. Right now you are pushing almost $2 billion a DAY out to oil exporting countries and your credit rating is headed for the rocks. The other 95% of the world already operates with 80% of the PPP indexed GDP of the world. The US is only 20% and DEEPLY in debt over its head. China's economic growth is already more and more internally driven. You know squat!
@historatia china produces small plastic parts for american companies... The US dollar is the reason china even has capital interest at all right now. The American dollar is the world reserve currency. If you were an economist, you would understand the fed can literally print as much money as they want and create capital, effectively keeping a de-valued dollar so inflation does not skyrocket and bankrupt american interests. The chinese are afraid the fed will de-value their debt by printing cash
@GodlessMartyr666 Listen Godless I AM AN ECONOMIST with post-graduate degree, President of an Economic Consulting Firm and have been and am practicing professionally -- including international economics with Central Bankers -- for now almost 40 years. The Fed can do printing "quantitative easing" in today's language, but the US rates to borrow money would skyrocket and NO OTHER COUNTRY will accept is as payment for US imports. Period. Gaitner already knows that!! ...
@GodlessMartyr666 Your TECHNICAL ERROR is that "de-valued" MEANS price inflation since with DEVALUED US DOLLARS you will be paying MORE PER BARREL and all other imports. The Chinese are afraid as are other countries that hold US-denominated debtts. That is already increasing US borrowing costs exactly when its economy needs lower borrowing costs. With all US consumer imports prices RISING, how is that going to hold the line on INFLATION. As I said, you know NOTHING of how this works.
@historatia no, to print money is to de-value, to de-value is to keep inflation to a minimum. Chinese interest in american dollars stems from two places. The US dollar is the world reserve currency, meaning being backed by the fed is accepted worldwide like a god damn visa. Chinese manufacturers actually need american companies to do business with them to keep producing, and exporting. Hence, American companies do businees with chinese manufacturers, and ultimately divest in chinese banks.
@GodlessMartyr666 Godless, you need to learn Economics 101. Germany after WWI tried printing money and ended up in hyperinflations. Most of the Western world did its again in the 1965 to 1985 period and again MAJOR INFLATION. Are you only 20 years old that you haven't lived during these years. Printing money leads DIRECTLY to INFLATION (more money chasing the same goods, and prices rise). What weird economics cult do you belong to? As I said, you know NOTHING of how this works.
@historatia you are only half right. Printing money leads to inflation when you are not the world reserve backer. The amount printed in contingence with circulation is the key factor. It must circulate or you will see great periods of inflation.
@GodlessMartyr666 Godless, give it up! I am 100% right. No nation can expand the money supply faster than the rate of real production without suffering inflation, ESPECIALLY if it circulates (Velocity of money is increased!) because that is an increase in demand in excess of the increase in money supply. You are simply wrong in this! I think that you should go quiet and study this matter a little more. The US is probably headed into a second "dip" with oil prices back up.
@historatia If you beleive oil futures run the world right now , especially in light of new manufacturing processes and clean energy alternatives in transportation and energy production, your not any sort of economist. Oil is on the decline and will continue to be until it is nearly phased out. Synthetic processes convert bio produced oils these days that can churn out plastics and foams, rubber and lubricant. Your arguement just took a ridiculous turn into hearsay.
@GodlessMartyr666 Actually because the core of my practise is international development economics it is not hearsay. Moreover you seem not to understand the consequences of your own observations. First, whether its oil of something else, it is still a matter of effective use of resources. Oil replacement by bio? Oh so now we grow plastic and not human food? Oh, ok, you should do that in Iowa.
@GodlessMartyr666 ... What you still don't grasp is that the US is 30 to 40 years BEHIND the advanced countries (Germany in particular) in developing the science and technology to allow the dependence on oil to decline and re-organize human settlement and economic and social structured accordingly. The North Sea oil is gone, the Brits gorged themselves but are now DONE... The US gorged on German technology stolen after the war, but now finds itself decades behind. ...
@historatia American technologies are actually the best in the world., especially information tech. The chinese are no longer communist, therefore you have just proven you know absolutely nothing of what you're talking about.
@GodlessMartyr666 ... Wnie those "communists" you hate so much are not only now doing spaceflights, but also launching very advanced aircraft carriers and naval jets... You must be really proud that the country you owe that HUGE amount of money to -- and can pull your chain -- is now readying itself to take back Taiwan..with military power to force the US to back away... Very proud of the mighty, invincible Superman.. oh sorry, he just gave up his citizenship .... I forgot...
@historatia - I was about to take your posts seriously, then I found out you are a mere canadian (spelled: north-north dakota).
How about if you let the important countries work out complex issues like technology and oil reserves, while you minor insignificant countries worry about other issues that are equally as important, you know, important things like hockey and flags with leaves on them? how about that? you could work on those things with finland, or botswana or bulgaria okay?
@GodlessMartyr666 Owing the equivalent of 70% of total household annual income to Other Countries, -- and getting worse by the day, AND demonstrating such major failure to actually get a functioning state in Iraq shows the US has been in steady decline since 9/11. Superpower?? it is moving quickly to sink without leaving a bubble and even now needs to be bailed out by its Chinese and German bankers. You are full of grand illusions.
@historatia again, without the US dollar, china has nothing. Americans buy everything from the chinese. Nobody else buys chinese labor the way the US does. Germans? My friend, the german economy has been stumbling since the second world war ended. They over engineer everything and nobody can afford to produce anything there. They export and import high quality material and as such, are a technical niche market. The chinese are the opposite, cheap labor, cheap interest on capital, etc...
@historatia While losses in vietnam are viewed as heavy I could point out the russians lost about 9 or so million military personnel during the second world war. While guerilla tactics and the lack of ability to standoff in a jungle did produce a unique war that was seen as particularly bloody for its time, it was still a technical win of sorts when you consider the numbers involved. The NVA alone lost over a million people, which tallies out to more than a twenty over one kills to losses ratio.
@GodlessMartyr666 .... NOw tells me, after the French raped and pillaged Vietnamese resources and slave labour for more than a century, just WHERE where these surplus population going to 'steal' their "lebensraum" from?? They couldn't. THEY HAD TO PLAY THE HAND THAT EUROPEAN COLONIAL POWERS ENFORCED ON THEM. THEY TOO SOUGHT INDEPENDENCE TO FIND THEIR OWN WAY. JUST WHY WAS THE US THERE IN THEIR RICE PADDIES???? (LOUDER, .. I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND!)
@GodlessMartyr666 Have you notices how "communism" can build up the literacy and brute force industry and create a policing system that then allows the "market system" with its freedoms to actually WORk, because of relatively common standards of education? If you haven't you're and ideologue rather than an astute observer of economic development.
@GodlessMartyr666 .... Clearly the Vietnam war did NOTHING to prevent the Chinese from become the largest banker to US excess. What did it prevent? Nothing.
damn right! the media controls the people and wont take responsibility for it. i am from Israel and just today we destroyed a terrorist cell that was responsible of lunching a Grad rocket to our southern cities and all that was shown on TV was a Palestinian ambulance with the the words "civil defense" on it. like we took down a bunch of nice loving people with firecrackers. and i am talking about our own TV network.
Let do it again Vietcong. America are not fighting like before. You will see like in Iraq. Last time VC bought weapons from Soviet and still owe Russia until now. This time ya'll be dead. America have more advance War Machines. Please do it again. Look at VC invade Cambodia and stealing Cambodia lands at the border right now in Nov. 2010.
@abraxasaron I have, I call it his take on war. His facts of wars are really someone else's take on war. I have fought in combat and I doubt I or anyone else could write "The Truth" of war if they had fought and seen things most veterans have, while at the same time understanding the politics and reasons for them. There are times when it is unavoidable, though some will argue. if you lived in a country and was seeing it invaded by another country diplomacy failed, and the only choice is war.
The US of A never lost a war anyway man, jus wot thje media want you 2 thank!! we killd millons of vietnamian bastards and so really we wun!! assholes, we kill any of you in war now. Next one Israil. all the muslims gotta go, yeeha!
@BadAssAlabama You do know Israelis are Jewish not Muslim right? I'm just saying because your last comment doesn't help the stereotype Alabama has already
cronkite is an asshole who should've been tried for treason. He stabbed thousands of Vietnam vets in the back and owes everyone on that wall an apology. Fact is, Vietnam was a combination of bad strategy and failure of the US govt. to control the media (like they did in both World Wars).
It angers me how our schools miseducate us about this war, throughout high school whenever we studied about wars and Vietnam came up, we were more or less told we "lost" but the more I read about vietnam, and watch documentaries, our Marines really did a damn fine job, kicking VC and NVA ass during tet shows how awesome they were and the NVA officers feared our Marine snipers, it seems the media and politics had alot to do with our premature evacuation.
I agree but people on the home front were just fed up woth the war and wanted out if that did not happen it would be very possible that the U.S would have won the war
you're very right, alot of our fellow citizens felt it was'nt our job to liberate Vienam, that it was'nt our place to be there at all, you make a very good point there. I just don't like it when people say "we got our asses kicked"
@chevyguy4life1982 We won the war on the battlefield. Every major battle ever fought, the US won in the end. Tet was a sneak attack under a flag of truce, and they failed to take us out. we lost politically. The troops didn't lose, it was the civilian leaders and hippys back in the states that lost.
@ALBANO2684 Amen to that brother!couldn't have said it better myself, though the NVA and VC were cunning enemies, and they did inflict serious casualties, they could'nt beat us on any of their major offenses...but politics took its toll.
All this for a corrupt gov't that broke it's word after the Viet Minh lowered its weapons after Dien Bien Phu for free elections. We betrayed that promise. They never stopped fighting. With our double dealing with the opium lords and the likes of Dieu, Ky, etc. all horridly corrupt and ruthless. We were warned by Gen./Pres. Elect Dwight D. Eisenhower and the exposed Military Industrial Complex. We did not heed. This is what we got.
Walter Cronkite was a ziocommunist puppet, working for the ziocommunist CBS news, with the objective of winning the war for the communists, if not on the battlefield, then in the minds of the naive public. Hell, if you have a glorious victory in your hands, at the cost of so much blood, what are you doing at a negotiation table in Paris? talking to broken Communists who's balls 've just been crushed? What kind of a high treason is this anyway?
Sounds like the marines kicked ass in Wai (spell'g) - this estrogen-injecting Cronkite made it all 'boo hoo they shot at us and even killed some' - Christ marines love that. Then it's boo-hoo the vietnam head of police blows away a suck-ass VC - what's the war about??? buy him a beer!! (sounds like he had brewskies on board! -OUTSTANDING, promotion due). Marines would have stomped the cong flatter than a Liberal chick "if" their country had been behind them. Hugs from Canada to Marines.
The US army did likes Cowards German Army in WWII.Thanks to Iran tell the World to know England was behind all the bab bad things WWI,WWII,VN War,Korean War. ..today too.Uncle Bush long live. .US long live. . .Evils will down, amen!
What that mean to all that ? So you are chinese ! 1 1/2 billions scare to death other no more 65 millions English people. . .So 25 chinese will again 1 English. . .Be brave and fight for Independance's china.
Listen sunshine. Don't be calling people idiots when you're coming out with sentences like (I am talking about the Evils Ueropes Lead by England!) For starters. What are Evils Ueropes??? and how is the strange made up place lead by England... BUY A DICTIONARY. Come back when you make sense
First. . If you are had Education, you are not speak those bad words"Fuck".You know Who I am. . .England is mean not thing to me!The English,Dmtau use when do the comments on You Tube. . .Do you speak other then English. . .Cowards is for you!

Your replies have been the source of much amusement for me and my friend. You are clearly either insane or using some kind of translater that isn't working properly. Bo Selecta my friend.... Bo selecta!
Hue's War. . .The South Vietnamese Forces fought right begining and to end . . .The truth US Army only may be 7% in "action" in some things else. . Who was order them to do,Dmtau hope very soon to view out!
Cronkite as we can now see from is globalist views, awards of internationalist group against a sovereign US is a traitor to America. His covert objective was demoralize the soldiers and turn the public against the military, which he accomplished quite well. The Marines cleaned house on the North Vietnamese army and Cronkite acted like they lost!

<<<<<< ( me )
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
the united states is the world economic juggernaut, the US economy has a direct impact on world economy and since it IS the current world reserve currency , it also has the sway to produce and consume more than anyone else. Its a super size nation, but for intensive purposes that's only a good thing for other countries doing business with "fatty"... literally the best thing to happen to a country like china or canada, so why are you complaining? Just don't live in the states or invest there...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
You also have to understand there is no concrete number on how many US dollars are circulating at any given time. Retirement funds and private holdings in offshore interests and foreign investments are not accounted for in the GDP, you touch on a gray area when you assume everything can be read out on paper. You might be a banker, but you're a poor economist if you beleive the retirement of the boomer generation won't change greatly the landscape of the american economic forecast... You are lost
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
Who do you propose would become the new world reserve backing? the EU? not with the euro in the state it is, and any sort of "oil dollar" between the eastern major producers would be economic suicide ( for the entire globe ) considering futures in oil are constantly being raised in price as new technology initiatives slowly phase out oil in both transportation and manufacture of goods and product. There is no suitable replacement for the US reserve at this time...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
This is no more than a by-product of essential business partnerships running their course.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
No actually , the entire world currently runs on an American standard. That five trillion dollars of chinese debt is the very reason the chinese would never decide to offload the american interest , simply because their entire country is running off the US dollar and will be , for a very long time.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
and lets be real here, when it comes to conventional force vs conventional force, the biggest defining requisite of every battle is how many you kill versus how many you lose, in comparison to objectives taken, whether that be land, or destruction of a specific entity...or collusion between sides.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
so even with trillions owed to the chinese, the Americans are still the number one global superpower.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
I would say if anything, capitalism is everything communism tried to be and failed, as though communism is sound in theory, it obviously never panned out for the countries who followed it. Socialist countries are weak and ultimately a drain on world economy, they export less and import more, they don't agree with republican ideaology and therefore work against any sort of democracy within or outside the country ( political ties ) and infighting is common. ex-communist countries are joining NATO.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
above all else a growth concept, created by the patriots of the civil world.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
and the funny thing is no matter what you say about capitalism, its working.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
even native tribes killed eachother...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
not only that but my arguement is fully supported on itself in that all ex-communist powers are converting to capitalist systems, with ex-soviet countries like belarus and ukraine even opting for a spot... Your arguement is moot because the world already proved me right. Communism is a flawed system that failed and will never resurface in a developed country.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
At least the capitalist system gives equal oppurtunity to better oneself, and you act as if we don't have social support systems to aid those less fortunate... Communism is dead. As I said earlier it only survives in countries that must either continue to operate as communists or cease to exist, literally and entirely. And you cant even begin to say communism isn't an enemy of all things republican, because the cold war is hard evidence of tension between what would have been two warring nations
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
and if you ever asked why the american system brought them to where they are, the global superpower, backed by a world reserve currency, the answer is right in front of you and I'm writing it right now. CAPITALISM WORKS.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
fortunately for me we were on the other side of the revolutionary war, but it doesn't mean I don't observe and applaud the capitalist system for what it is.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
And I find it hilarious that you would even begin to class the waffen SS or the taliban with any US organisation, army or otherwise...Whether or not they were sentimental soldiers is irrelevant, the fact is they fought on the side labelled AXIS OF EVIL, by the rest of the world, which pretty much subjugates them to being stamped out by the allies, regardless of who was involved. The United States obviously had no interest in fighting the germans until the japanese came along and bombed our shit.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
and by the way you can talk all the garbage you want about conspiracy this, conformism that... but at the end of the day the conflict is still being waged , and nothing you say will ever detract the sentiment of the laotian, cambodian and vietnamese that don't support communism, and would literally fight and die in an effort to secure a capitalist system for their friends , families, and the future generations to come.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
ho chi minh's unified vietnam is as much of an intrusion on the non communist vietnamese people as the french colonial reign was.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
at the very least, the pro capitalists made it a hell of a pain in the ass to gain control of south vietnam.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
the problem is the communists were pro chinese red vietnamese people.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
and if you think about it , they technically did decide their independance.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
they used many of the brutal scare tactics seen in post war afghanistan today, by the taliban...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
And the north could have pushed the western backed south out of power in south vietnam had they amassed a 2.5 million man movement against the coalition, as they had done to the french prior to their exit in '55... The korean war itself highlights the fact of necessity in a situation like the vietnamese liberation movement prior to American intervention... Hot wars that extend from the cold war are nominally civil, but strictly defined as conventional in most aspects. Viet Minh were terrorists.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
not only that but the soviets had advisors fighting with anti french and anti capitalist forces long before the united states set foot in country. The entire conflict was a stop on communist expansion into the asias, not a conquest. Long before nixon and vietnamization, the country was nearly free of american forces albeit military advisory council and CIA operatives spying on soviet backed chinese and korean forces in contact with the ho chi minh cabinet and the red-backed viet minh. circa 1955
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
"It wasn't anything except each other" Nice line... Maybe someday the Americans will understand that that is true for every force including the the NVA and the Waffen SS the German Wehrmacht, Those men fought the same way, and yet the US called the Waffen SS a "criminal organization"...and Vietnamese "gooks". .The Vietnamese fought for the freedom of their country. LBJ was a war criminal. Most of those 3,100,000 lost Vietnam dead were his victims. America had no business there.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia neither did communism.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 That, my overbearing American friend was for the Vietnamese to decide and not the Americans!! Has it occurred to you that it was AMERICA THAT FED THE INDUSTRIAL POWER INTO STALIN'S COUNTRY TO FIGHT AGAINST THE ARCH-ANTICOMMUNIST (HITLER) AND THEREBY SUPPORT COMMUNISM LIKE NOTHING ELSE COULD???? It made prisoners of Central and Eastern Europe ONLY possible with vast American industrial help. They suffered for half a century thanks to America.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia vietnam was a french colony until 1955. The pro communists saw an oppurtunity of interest. Ho Chi Minh beckoned the united states for help BEFORE he turned to communism. He studied in east harlem. Learn historical fact before you spew judgement and hearsay about events which are beyond you. Dien Bien Phu was the rice paddie of all rice paddies and for it to fall into non republican , or worse, communist hands... was not an option. It was a hot war extension of the cold war.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Let me "spew" my judgement on things that are NOT beyond me! (1) I KNOW the historical "facts". At its core the Vietnamese wanted INDEPENDENCE. (period!) They came ever so close in getting rid of their French overlords when teh Americans DECIDED TO MIX THEMSELVES IN, AND DID SO AS AGGRESSORS to bring it into the American sphere aka, American dependency and colony. Why?? Allowing the Vietnamese their INDEPENDENCE was ALWAYS the ONLY option. ....
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Your patronizing nonsense ASSUMES that the US had the "right" to interfere to DENY the independence of another people. Even Robert McNamara now acknowleges it as having been a horrific mistake. (And please, don't start down the BS "domino" propaganda unless you want to take FULL responsibilitty for the DISASTER OF CAMBODIA, -- ALSO BROUGHT ABOUT BY AMERICAN INEPTITUDE.)..
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 ....Why didn't the US line up behind Ho rather than fight him? Why didn't the US go against the tyrannt Batista and work on the side of the Cuban people? The US is NOT a Mother Teresa trying to help the world, but an avaricious empire that took the Spanish colonies and then moved to take over the French. The US is HATED because it was willing to "divide" the world between itself and the USSR, with BOTH denying others their RIGHTFUL INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia well no shit, it wasn't for the betterment of mankind or to bring peace and prosperity in vietnam... Like I said , it was a STOP ON COMMUNISM. For the rice paddies in Dien Bien Phu to fall into communist hands ( chinese reds, not russian... ) was unthinkable. Do you have any idea how detrimental it would have been if they had captured the valley without losing about 2 million of their nationalist army to secure it? Commi asia would have conquered all republics... PREVENTATIVE ACTION.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 That's complete nonsesne Godless, absolute Americcan propaganda rubbish. Go to the vids where even arch war-crininal (by his own admission) Robert McNamara admits that it was all a collosal mistake and "we see it all differently and more clearly now". But Americans killed 3,100,000 Vietnamese with their then false view of the world. Stop Chinese communism? Whoa!! Americans OWE these people about 1/2 year of GDP because they are beating up in the US in economic matters.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia would you rather have let the communists simply crush the pro capitalists without even a fight? There was a reason the french stopped trying to keep their colony in vietnam... The communists were on a conquest to gain control of everything and secure the rice paddies for red use. This , is absolutely unacceptable. The amount of rice produced in Dien Bien Phu would have guaranteed strong material ( food ) supply for communist armies which would have conquered ALL of asia and the east.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Look Godless, you have a FIXATION in the "communist" thing. I don't! (I'm and economist by profession). Many countries can NOT make the market system work, they are all entitled to use the communits "rationing" system to gain economic development if they so choose. It is NOT the place of the US to kill millions of its fixations!!! Just understand that the US has done that for decades and killed millions. Its criminal.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia if the united states had never even sent a single advisor to help the pro capitalists, the country would still have been in great turmoil. In fact I would go so far as to speculate the conflict would have been much worse had a superpower like the west not stepped in to curb what was effectively a takeover of the country by fundamentalist commis. Being an economist doesn't mean shit to me, in fact I feel it may even make you more jaded to the truth, it was a hot extension of cold war.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 I personally am VERY right of centre for the circumstances in which I live, but I understand that one theory does not fit all! Do you think Cuba would have high literacy and good public health today if the American fruit companies still owned the place, and the gangsters still owned the hotels to turn young Cuban women into whores for American tourists? Get Real. Your system doesn't work so well either, so stop FORCING it through military means. Clear?
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia again, cuba is communist, therefore it must be supressed. But that sort of sex tourism is actually much more rife in Europe, and the sex tourists are largely from neighboring countries or wealthy businessmen from asia and the middle east. You are citing common facts of life that hold no tenure to true corruption. The entire world is corrupt to a huge extent. You think Americans and the capitalist empirical system are to blame? give me a break... Egyptians owned slaves. Live with it.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 There it is again, this FIXATION with communism being "evil". It's not, it replaced allocation by market with allocation by ration, and in some circumstances (even in the US) its is a necessary mechanism to prevent disaster. Egyptians owned slaves TRUE (but those that built the pyramids were NOT slaves). Guess what the AMERICANS OWNED SLAVES! Did you think of that? As you say, "Live with it".
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia I do live with it, but I also drive a cadillac and make 80 grand a year,. I beleive in honest work and circulation, communism is both lazy and abhorrent to a real working man. Communism is a setback, and largely abolished at this point. Only third party nations that observed communism in the bloc era and slightly post are still communist. Communism is not evil, but capitalism is a direct competitor to it we and must effectively control or destroy it to continue on as we need to now.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@historatia I'm not saying capitalism is perfect OR communism is evil. I was born and raised in a capitalist society that values hard work and integrity, and while you can preach all you want, living conditions in this country are MUCH better than ANY communist state could provide. I live in Canada, for your information. We observe many similarities with the American system of political capitalism yet retain many of our empirical monarchist habits set upon by the english, as we were a COLONY,...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Well then, since you are living in Canada, surely you must recognize that when the whites came here to rob the land and its resources from the natives, there was a whole HALF CONTINENT that we Canadians could develop (exploit) and share to live off the land. Compare that to Cuba where 10 million (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver TOGETHER have to live on that tiny island) with no oil resources of James Bay projects. Now try comparing this!!....
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 ...German central Europe in the 1850 -- still agrarian -- could NOT feed itself, and its population surpluses as the industrial revolution drove people off the land. (Britain same thing). Now what would "capitalism" do with that? Communism enforces rations to keep people alive. The Brits had the native land to steal and send surplus populations to (and we Canadian immigrants are SURPLUS populations from Europe). Capitalist society values stole the land from our natives. ....
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia In this world, you are predator or prey. There is no neutral ground. Kill or be killed. The weak will not survive. We didn't "steal" the land from natives, it was never really theirs to begin with. They crossed an ice bridge (an ocean) in the ice age and ended here. You could say they stole the land from the animals that lived there, they hunted and killed them and "raped" their lands by settling. At some point you just have to accept the fact that this shit had to be done, and was.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 OK. Then I understand you. You subscribe to the Hitlerian view that there will always be war among the races to control the (according to Thomas Malthus, 1776) limited resources of the world. Your beliefs are at the core of Naziism. . That justifies the US killing 3.100,000 Vietnamese? I SO NOT think it "had to be done" but "it was". You're crazy! So now that China and India are forcing Americans with their vaunted private capitalism off the cheap oil resource, OK?
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia now you're a complete hypocrit, go read your first comment on this page... War itself is nature, monkeys kill and eat eachother in the jungle, as we did thousands of years ago. As I said, if you can't accept that those who don't fight proactively to secure their survival then you truly are a brainwashed patron of modern civilization. You would do well to read up on cynissism, because when I contrast this comment to the one I first replied to yesterday I am apalled and disgusted by it
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Hypocrit? Nonsense. Of course I would fight for my survival and have done so. More important is that I understand the distinction between police-type military action directed towards human rights based "civilization" as the necessary war to blast out of existence those who take the "monkey eat monkey" approach to life, because they destroy "civilization". In other words don't walk in front of my modified Kalash too carelessly.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia Fortunately for capitalism , elitists ensure military budget spending and creation of technological advancement programs are at our disposal to make your cheap poorly built russian rifle turn to dust, along with you and everyone around you. At the end of the day , extremism is still the less-than one percentile, and the developed world will always work against setbacks like communism. The system is by no means perfect , but it beats the fuck out of a communist or islamic shit hole...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Yup... Actually the modified Kalesh is Czech or Slovak built and not about to turn into dust. Modified capitalism will indeed do that, but your "monkey eat monkey" extremist model will not., and cannot work. You haven't learned the essence of Adam Smith's great work (The Wealth of Nations, 1776). You should educate yourself some time to what capitalism really is. Also go study Religion and the Rise of Capitalism by Tawney. Your ignorance embarass capitalists like me.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia you truly are the worst sort of hypocrit if you beleive yourself to hold any sort of capitalist ideal whence you would shit all over the very basis of what makes any capitalist system what it is, the ability to conquest solely on the back of a military complex revolutionized and sponsored by hard working , honest, good people who strive to advance themselves and their fellow men. Empire is as Empire does. This is how the world works, unfortunately. Just be glad you aren't an african.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Capitalist "ideal"? just what is that? I trust that you are not aware the Marx's great work (3 Volumes) is titled "Das Kapital", and represents the core of communist economic theory. The first comprehensive source of the private enterprise system -- often just called "capitalism" -- in that of Adam Smith to which I guided you. Your conception of it is utterly nonsense. Free Enterprise does NOT need military conquest to support it. That's a load of rubbish.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia Now you are trying to put words into my mouth. I never once indicated a need for the military complex. It enhances our ability to operate. If you need lithium , go get it. If 90% of the worlds opium supply comes from a single country, obviously it would be worthwhile for any and all US pharm companies to lobby behind the curtain for an occupation of said country. This is how the system works, and while I'm not saying its right to do, it is effective. Communism is dead, get over it...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@historatia and again, no matter what you want to say about the system in place, it works. It was a common fact during the second world war that a military industrial complex pushed nations involved in the war into an economic fastlane of sorts, not only that but it boosted the core strength of the United states army, navy and air force to world superpower status, and brought the north americas into the age of technological revolution. Sure, we stole german tech, but if we hadn't, others would.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 The "system" of capitalism does not need war and conquest of other people's and their lands to work its magic. In fact, such an economic system when allowed to operate is beneficial for ALL participants, avoiding war, but "American capitalism" seems to prefer the violent course of conquest . Superpower status? With the US military loss to Vietnam to the shambles of Iraq and now its ENORMOUS and growing external debt to other countries says otherwise...
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia debt or no debt, the world reserve currency is still US dollars and federal gold. They may owe trillions to china but the chinese will need american allegiant export futures if they ever want to survive... Who do you think consumes all of the chinese crap coming from cheap labor indusion? It's american companies fuelling the chinese factories that send their business to north america. Without american interest, there is no cheap labor in china. When nobody is buying, cost goes up...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Good God Godless. Its clear that you are not keeping up with the economic news. The G-20 --starting in Toronto and accelerating in Korea -- is headed toward creating currency baskets to replace the US Dollar. Theat means that the reserve which is formed of the 31 TRILLION of Cumulative excess of US Imports over Exports has to be REVERSED and the US will have to find 31 TRILLION in export surpluses to pay it out. Good Luck to you and your deadbeat state. ...
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia unfortunately the federal reserve holds so much gold you will never be able to take the reserve back out of the US dollar, unless you can somehow synthesize gold and make it worthless.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Your a nut case. The world is not on a "gold standard", and the US gold reserves are NOT huge. As of the end of 2009, the US Government held 261.5 million ounces which, at $1,100 per ounce is $288 billion dollars. Not THAT, is TRIVIAL against the debts. China alone holds over FIVE (5) TRILLION of US Government debt, or 18 TIMES as much as your total GOLD RESERVE. As I said. You know NOTHING about how this works. Nations with OIL reserves, for example have WEALTH.
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 The SMALL country of Norway (population 4 million) has foreign investment holdings (not "reserves") of OVER 230 billion OVER 80,000 per person. The US has 3.6 Trillion so only a pitifull $12,000 for each of its 300 million people. Giving over ALL your foreign investment and all your Gold pays of less than 1/6 of what you OWE.. and you CAN'T make that debt 'worthless' because worthless money won't buy oil, etc. You'll be back in to stone age!! Good luck you near bankrupt!
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia I never once said the debt could be payed off, so why do you act as if I had? The problem is the forex is based on gold in europe and the US, and since the US dollar is the current world reserve currency, everyone is doing business in US dollars. Printing money is necessary to keep circulation up so inflation doesn't occur at astronomical rates and destroy the economy. The united states controls 90% of the world opium poppies in afghanistan and are routing US backed pharm companies.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Because I say that if the world moves to a different reserve system then it MUST be paid off. The US dollars become NON-RESERVE financial holdings that noone will want to keep because the risk is FAR to high against a T-bill rates FAR to low... With the US only 20% of the worlds PPP indexed GDP, its SHRINKAGE and declining US living standards make room for others (Chinese, India, other Asians, Eastern Europeans on the rise...
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 You don't have to like it, but the 95% of the worlds population that is NOT American will not find it too diffucult to absorb and use the resources that the gluttenous US economy is using now! The whole world is preparing that readjustment now, and at the Korea G-20 they (China and Germany) REFUSED the bailout that the US demanded and warned against the "quantitative easing" beyond agreed limits. (Germany recovered without deficits. Did you notice?)
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia Germany is a tiny country with a small population which produces incredibly expensive niche items. Everything they produce is over engineered and expensive. They have such high standards that those who do purchase their products have grown fond of their reputation for producing exceptional goods. Niche markets rarely fail. Did you notice they also rebuilt the entire country ,twice, and successfully rose up out of two world wars that effectively stifled them from the rest of the world
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Yes I've noticed. Since I started life as a German and still have interests there I have watched how the did it. They practised THRIFT, extremely WISE investment, (Germany today uses/imports LESS oil than they did in the mid-1970's. Germany gets over 15% of its electricity from solar panels on homes. The US? a joke! Germany practises EXTREME governmental fiscal prudence. The US? In 2009 for every $100 spent (federal/state/local) government collected only $57. Total disaster.
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 You have your proportions all mixed up. The US is 5% of the worlds population that is VERY DEEPLY indebted to the other 95%. Right now you are pushing almost $2 billion a DAY out to oil exporting countries and your credit rating is headed for the rocks. The other 95% of the world already operates with 80% of the PPP indexed GDP of the world. The US is only 20% and DEEPLY in debt over its head. China's economic growth is already more and more internally driven. You know squat!
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia china produces small plastic parts for american companies... The US dollar is the reason china even has capital interest at all right now. The American dollar is the world reserve currency. If you were an economist, you would understand the fed can literally print as much money as they want and create capital, effectively keeping a de-valued dollar so inflation does not skyrocket and bankrupt american interests. The chinese are afraid the fed will de-value their debt by printing cash
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Listen Godless I AM AN ECONOMIST with post-graduate degree, President of an Economic Consulting Firm and have been and am practicing professionally -- including international economics with Central Bankers -- for now almost 40 years. The Fed can do printing "quantitative easing" in today's language, but the US rates to borrow money would skyrocket and NO OTHER COUNTRY will accept is as payment for US imports. Period. Gaitner already knows that!! ...
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Your TECHNICAL ERROR is that "de-valued" MEANS price inflation since with DEVALUED US DOLLARS you will be paying MORE PER BARREL and all other imports. The Chinese are afraid as are other countries that hold US-denominated debtts. That is already increasing US borrowing costs exactly when its economy needs lower borrowing costs. With all US consumer imports prices RISING, how is that going to hold the line on INFLATION. As I said, you know NOTHING of how this works.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia no, to print money is to de-value, to de-value is to keep inflation to a minimum. Chinese interest in american dollars stems from two places. The US dollar is the world reserve currency, meaning being backed by the fed is accepted worldwide like a god damn visa. Chinese manufacturers actually need american companies to do business with them to keep producing, and exporting. Hence, American companies do businees with chinese manufacturers, and ultimately divest in chinese banks.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Godless, you need to learn Economics 101. Germany after WWI tried printing money and ended up in hyperinflations. Most of the Western world did its again in the 1965 to 1985 period and again MAJOR INFLATION. Are you only 20 years old that you haven't lived during these years. Printing money leads DIRECTLY to INFLATION (more money chasing the same goods, and prices rise). What weird economics cult do you belong to? As I said, you know NOTHING of how this works.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia you are only half right. Printing money leads to inflation when you are not the world reserve backer. The amount printed in contingence with circulation is the key factor. It must circulate or you will see great periods of inflation.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Godless, give it up! I am 100% right. No nation can expand the money supply faster than the rate of real production without suffering inflation, ESPECIALLY if it circulates (Velocity of money is increased!) because that is an increase in demand in excess of the increase in money supply. You are simply wrong in this! I think that you should go quiet and study this matter a little more. The US is probably headed into a second "dip" with oil prices back up.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia If you beleive oil futures run the world right now , especially in light of new manufacturing processes and clean energy alternatives in transportation and energy production, your not any sort of economist. Oil is on the decline and will continue to be until it is nearly phased out. Synthetic processes convert bio produced oils these days that can churn out plastics and foams, rubber and lubricant. Your arguement just took a ridiculous turn into hearsay.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Actually because the core of my practise is international development economics it is not hearsay. Moreover you seem not to understand the consequences of your own observations. First, whether its oil of something else, it is still a matter of effective use of resources. Oil replacement by bio? Oh so now we grow plastic and not human food? Oh, ok, you should do that in Iowa.
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 ... What you still don't grasp is that the US is 30 to 40 years BEHIND the advanced countries (Germany in particular) in developing the science and technology to allow the dependence on oil to decline and re-organize human settlement and economic and social structured accordingly. The North Sea oil is gone, the Brits gorged themselves but are now DONE... The US gorged on German technology stolen after the war, but now finds itself decades behind. ...
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia American technologies are actually the best in the world., especially information tech. The chinese are no longer communist, therefore you have just proven you know absolutely nothing of what you're talking about.

@historatia - I was about to take your posts seriously, then I found out you are a mere canadian (spelled: north-north dakota).
How about if you let the important countries work out complex issues like technology and oil reserves, while you minor insignificant countries worry about other issues that are equally as important, you know, important things like hockey and flags with leaves on them? how about that? you could work on those things with finland, or botswana or bulgaria okay?
mollkatless 3 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 Owing the equivalent of 70% of total household annual income to Other Countries, -- and getting worse by the day, AND demonstrating such major failure to actually get a functioning state in Iraq shows the US has been in steady decline since 9/11. Superpower?? it is moving quickly to sink without leaving a bubble and even now needs to be bailed out by its Chinese and German bankers. You are full of grand illusions.
historatia 10 months ago
@historatia again, without the US dollar, china has nothing. Americans buy everything from the chinese. Nobody else buys chinese labor the way the US does. Germans? My friend, the german economy has been stumbling since the second world war ended. They over engineer everything and nobody can afford to produce anything there. They export and import high quality material and as such, are a technical niche market. The chinese are the opposite, cheap labor, cheap interest on capital, etc...
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago
@historatia While losses in vietnam are viewed as heavy I could point out the russians lost about 9 or so million military personnel during the second world war. While guerilla tactics and the lack of ability to standoff in a jungle did produce a unique war that was seen as particularly bloody for its time, it was still a technical win of sorts when you consider the numbers involved. The NVA alone lost over a million people, which tallies out to more than a twenty over one kills to losses ratio.
GodlessMartyr666 10 months ago

If you haven't you're and ideologue rather than an astute observer of economic development.
historatia 10 months ago
@GodlessMartyr666 .... Clearly the Vietnam war did NOTHING to prevent the Chinese from become the largest banker to US excess. What did it prevent? Nothing.
