3) Keyboard is great [ok, personal opinion - i find it great]. But for sure backlit keys are awesome, u cant say no...
4) Cheap materials? Nope. The screen is really great - high ress (full hd on my MBP) + LED technology (AWESOME colors and look - especially needed when i work with photos). Aluminum is great too - durable and light at the same time, not saying looks great (other laptops = shit plastic). Speakers = very good, loud sound (check benchmarks, they sound really good in comparison to the competition).
There are also other different ways that they are just much better

I still rely very heavily on my drive for program installation, CD audio and DVD video as well as burning the same, which is what turned me towards the MacBook instead, which I totally love. I wouldn't want to have to carry around separate accessories that the MacBook has built in just to have a computer that fits in an envelope. I mean, why don't you remove the built-in camera and carry around an iSight? Because integration is part of a laptop's portability.

Its a great machine, as in if you get a SSD Macbook Air. It can boot up within 10 seconds. Its powerful but its not meant for editing video or even pictures.
theres an installer disk w/ every MBA to install remote disk. u intall it on w/e computer u like (mac or pc). then in the finder in MBA, u go to remote disk. meanwhile, u put the disk u wanna install in the other computer w/ remote disk installed. then, back in the MBA, click on that computer and follow through.
A lot of computer guys out there knock this thing for its specs, but you gotta rememeber there a lot of people out there that don't really need their computer to do much, and care more about how it looks. Sounds superficial but facts are facts. The computer industry has ignored aesthetics for way too long.

Well my only other concern about the Macbook Air, is that it probably can't take too much damage. If that laptop was dropped once or twice it would probably be done.
they designed it to be ultra portable and made for travel thats why there is no ethernet port or dvd/cd drive. plus, now you can just wirelessly use a cd/dvd in another computer's drive near by if needed. apple is smart, they are always thinking ahead like this.

no cd drive, more of a problem than you think
its a mac, they suck, you cant do anything with them
80 gig hard drive is nothing today, new software can be over 5 gigs
i would rather have a little thicker and heavier laptop with much better feature for alot less money

Yeah thin... and other dimensions are just like my 14 inch notebook. Calling it ultraportable or subnotebook is a bad joke. It has only feature lacks like some ultraportables.

Well my only other concern about the Macbook Air, is that it probably can't take too much damage. If that laptop was dropped once or twice it would probably be done.

they designed it to be ultra portable and made for travel thats why there is no ethernet port or dvd/cd drive. plus, now you can just wirelessly use a cd/dvd in another computer's drive near by if needed. apple is smart, they are always thinking ahead like this.

Who needs a dvd drive. If you don't travel or don't like this. Don't buy it! I never use a cd or dvd, NEVER! I'm all wireless and I know a lot of other people are too! I love this thing! DO NOT say Apple sucks! Microsoft, now there is a company who sucks.

I'd like some of what you're smoking - there is no such thing as "Windows based". The Macbook Air uses fundamentally the same hardware as any other laptop, and like the Macbook /Pro, is thus quite capable of running Windows.
Furthermore, there is no data whatsoever to backup the claim that 95% of all "world home computers" run Windows.

this is for professional use obviously, due to it's PORTABILITY. I'm sure its a marketing technique to have teh dvd drive seperate, but some people just dont need it anymore. If you wanted a laptop to watch movies get a portable dvd player.
