HHDL needs support to educate Tibetan children who have escaped PRISON Tibet to get a proper education. The literacy rate in Tibet shows education since the invasion of the independent COUNTRY of Tibet and been a complete failure.
If nothing else, the CCP surely brought in modern, secular, compulsory education to the Tibetans masses. Literacy prior to CCP was exclusive to Tibetan aristocrats and high-order monks. Literacy rate was in low single digits prior to 1949, now, 98% for children of school age.
India didn't even want to take in the Dalai in 1959 when he escaped from Tibet. The ONLY reason the Indians took him in was because they were under enormous pressure from the Americans and the British.
India didn't want Dalai back in 1959, but now they do. Simple reason, the Dalai is a pawn against supposed Chinese encroachment into South Tibet (Arunachal Pradesh), as most of the population there are ethnic Tibetans.

It is known fact the armed riots in 1959 were supported by the Americans and British, who not only provided financial support, but also provided weaponry and arms training in of all places, Colorado. The "uprising" was conducted by aristocratic Tibetans, it had little popular support, and one of the reasons why it did not succeed. In fact, this is the same reason why the 1989 and 2008 riots had zero effect. No popular support. Just thugs and monks under Dalai control.

India didn't want Dalai back in 1959, but now they do. Simple reason, the Dalai is a pawn against supposed Chinese encroachment into South Tibet (Arunachal Pradesh), as most of the population there are ethnic Tibetans.
