What hardware are you using? I am debating if I should buy Symphony Orchestra Gold and Hollywood Strings, or just  SO Platinum Plus, and then get choirs and Goliath or SD2.

You are right. DAW sounds are 8mm film compared to CinemaScope.

that really does sound like a interlude from the tv show house more then any serious orchestral arrangement, its not bad but it is more a loop using orchestral sound wave, there is no thematic devloppement, introduction, not even a interesting chord progression, it is mostly percusive patch in a boring loop

@BLAZE45 ableton comes with no such thing...ableton has its separate orchestra library which is a pile of shit in comparison to the quality of east west and east west isnt tht much more costly as far as arrangements go...i dont know what ur smoking cus no daw comes with any orchestral arrangements

@BLAZE45 no serious orchestration mock up use ableton small orchestral library, evryone move one on specific library in the last few years, you need a string library, a brass one, even wind and percussion got their library now, so if you beleive ableton couple orchestral sample are in competition with hollywood string or lass, or even vsl for that matter your seriously mistaken, there isnt even a debate, and it isnt use as you said in many movies,

@GRonnoc Logic pro does (about £400) and you can make some really good sounds from it. But from what I hear, EWQL is much better :)

@mophead99 it absolutely is, at least in the orchestral side of things. I have the apple orchestra jam pack and EWQL and it blows apple out of the water (but $50 for the apple pack is much more affordable and still worth the low price)

@mega100000001 umm yer eastwest is reli good, although i recommend the platinum version as the gold has fewer articulations and only one mic position which the recordings come with a natural stage reverb(kinda shit), in other words...its perfect for producing orchestral or cinematic pieces...but for the odd string patch or trumpet for electronic music cheaper libraries will be fine, like philharmonics or HQOR and yer u can run it in logic and pretty much any sequencer...hope i was helpful...
