Yes, I am behind the times and responding months later after this video. Lol. Slacker. Anyway, I have done this trick for a long time with Scotch (sticky) tape. I find though that it I have to redo my under eye concealer after because it removes splotchy bits of pigmentation. Do these leave the area flawless after you remove them? XOXO. Huge fan in the states! ;)
@nakiestona from what I can tell it is just a silicone strip which is sticky and I believe because of the stickiness when fallout occurs it just sticks to the silicone opposed to sliding off!
@factorygal21: I like to hold up a business card against my eyelid then apply mascara. OR just try looking down while applying to prevent it hitting your eyelid.
i've allways been shown to do my eyes last is there alot of difference in hiding circle's under the eyes if i want to start doing my eyes frist instead of last to avoid the fallout which i do find a pain dealing with??
I love your videos! If I lived near you I would love to chat and exchange ideas!! Oh, can u please tell me do u use lighting or is it just the cam on your computer??
It's so funny because in every make-up tutorial i watch, everybody put their eye shadow dry on, i always make my brush damp, i think that the color is much more intense (i use cheap eye shadow) and it stays on longer and better, and i have no fall out! But the tip to do your eyes first is the best!!! (I'm Dutch so sorry if my English isn't correct!)
@veronicaki1717 for some very dark color and high pigment, when you use fan brush the eye shadow could be slid on your face and make it awful (so most people like to put some powder underneath the eyes to make it easier to clean off by the fan brush. if you use only fan brush, you will get problem with the dark color)
I find using a fan brush to sweep it away works as well just sweep it under the eye and if there's still some shimmer or anything just press the slightest bit of powder on to the area.
I use alot of mineral make up as all as dark shimmery colors and I have this problem alot. I've been looking for these recently and I've not been able to find them in local stores for a decent price. I'm in the US do you have any suggestions?
lanaindiana was a fan of a Canadian make up artist who always put a thick layer of powder underneath her eyes. When she was done with her eyemakeup, she just brushed the under eye powder away! I haven't tried this because the powder would accentuate my wrinkles. But I am always amazed and appreciative of simple solutions that don't cost a cent.
you can also do something even easier if you like tp do your makeup first, either be carefull of what you do and thus not have fallouts or just use a piece of paper and keep it under your eyes until you finish with the one eye and then do the same on the other eye. as simple as that
Thanks for sharing Wayne as always great hints, tricks and ways to spend money wisely. Any chance of you showing how you would help some learn to disguise bad skin, such as acne? or anyone scarred? As I know some dermatoglists actually recommend certain make-up which is not the brands you use. Such as MAC etc.. due to it aggravating already irritated skin.. I do not have these problems but it would help others..:-)
So I know its all silicone, but it looks like it has a plastic film either on top or through the middle.
I guess my question is whether the fall out sticks to the pad or just slides off past your face. via some smooth surface? Or does silicone just do that lol.
I just can't quite see clearly. Love you Goss, I hope someone can answer my dumb question!!
Now for anyone who has really really dry skin use Eucerin Aquaphor!! It's $17 a jar but lasts forever! I've had the same jar for about 9 months now n I use it every single day on my whole body (and I'm a pretty thick voluptuous girl) and I still have half a jar left! It's kind of greasy but it stays on all day/night! Also they have Eucerin Aquaphor for Babies and I use it on my son 2-3x a day (cause he got diagnosed w/ eczema which I also had when I was a baby n it's pretty much just super supe
@MsKnev I forgot to mention that baby wipes also work phenomenally at taking off waterproof makeup as well!! Which is hard to do, so that's another good tip! I do recommend using Nutrogena (ms) Purpose face wash to wash ur face after removing makeup it's oil free and it helps if u have sensitive skin (such as myself) and then using Eucerin Calming Cream lotion it works amazing to keep your face smooth and oil free!! And it lasts all day!! Now for anyone who has dry dry sensitive skin use Euceri
@MsKnev to remove makeup w/o having to worry about too much oil use baby wipes!! The work wonderfully!! I have a 9 month old and I use about 1 or 2 of his baby wipes every night to remove my makeup!! They work so easily and don't leave ur face all oily. I wear blackest black mascara and it's hard to get off with just washing ur face or makeup remover plus my skin is super sensitive so the oil based makeup remover irritates my face and the baby wipes are really amazing to get my makeup off with
I think Wayne is the best, I have learned so much from him already..I do exactly as he says and put my eye makeup on before foundation and never have this problem..but I love that he always looks out for the consumer and will say if something is not a good buy for the money..we all don't have big budgets for makeup and you can tell he acknowledges this!!! Rock on!
I think that those shields are great too, but I definitely agree that cleaning up with the foundation is just easier. It's all up to personal preference I guess!

@factorygal21 for mascara messups simply wait until it dries and wipe off with a qtip. Your first instinct is to get it as soon as it drops but the only thing that will do is smudge your makeup
I haven't tried doing my eyes first ~ I love that Wayne so often points out the obvious. I sometimes use a piece of scotch tape to pick up any fallout, but also I love the post-it idea for prevention.
For some reason I like to leave the eyes until last - probably because I make the look up as I go. I actually use cello tape/sticky tape to pick up the fallout, which is usually glitter from shimmer shadows so easily seen.
You shouldn't have to buy anything. I just use a tissue, you don't need to hands to put on eyeshadow. I use one hand to put eyeshadow on with a brush, and the other to hold the tissue under my eye. This method has worked for me, for quite some time.
I do eyes first as well, so fallout is no problem. However- I always get mascara on my lid when applying it so I don't want to do shadows last b/c then it is hard to apply over curled done lashes. Any suggestions?
@factorygal21 I have the same problem. The quickest solution is the business card trick, where you place a business card behind your lashes and apply mascara. Also, I've learned how to tilt my head at certain angles to prevent this and to not push the wand so hard against the lashes (this prevents them from bending too far back and touching my lid). Hope this helps!
my mascara always comes right under my eyes by the end of the day. i guess you would call is mascara fall out. and i always end up looking like a panda. how do i prevent thins?
No matter what form the eyeshadow fall out guard comes in, I feel that the guard would take off some amount of foundation/concealer already applied when peeled off. As you said, why not putting the eye makeup first!?
@njb1017 silcone is a totally inert material that we use for grafts, catheters etc so i doubt there wld be any allergy, not seen one in one my career as a doctor. dr. celine
when you peel it off wouldnt it take your foundation and everything you put on come off along with it? i mean since its sticky, wouldnt wutever was on your face stick to it and come off too?
I always read the bottom description box on every one of your videos. I love how you take the time to write out useful information there. You're the best! Your videos are truly the definition of great value for time. You provide such helpful advice in a concise articulate way. I absolutely love it. THANK YOU!
These remind me of Dr. Scholls Comfort Gel Inserts for shoes. I have them for an adorable (but painful!) pair of heels. They're Silicone little pads shaped like a crescent and only cost $6.99. Now I'm wondering if they'd work lol
Hi Wayne again, thanks for this video. When I don't know quite yet what colours of eyeshadow I'll be putting on, or wether I'll be using it with pigments or glitteri kind of eyshadow and I already have my foundation on, I powder under my eyes with loose transparent powder and after I'm done use a fan brush and remove every bit of poder again. So I avoid any caky look under my eyes. And also, ofc the hideous fall out. Otherwise, as you said, eyes make-up 1st, then foundation.
Wouldn't those just ruin your foundation/powder anyway, when you peel them off? I think it's just easier to layer on the powder and lightly dust off the fallout when you're done.
I went around YouTube looking for male makeup artist and stumbled upon you :)
I was wondering if you could do some naturally make up tips. I'm male and I like to use make up to fix up my tiny flaws like to fill in my brows, and cover up some blemishes and sometimes have longer lashes, but people always seem to notice that I'm wearing make up. I just want a clean fresh look :)
I like all these products -- but I just prefer a tissue paper, they are light and gentle and usually doesn't mess with your makeup. I feel like the sticky part of these shields will peel out some of your foundation when you remove them :(
Do you wear makeup yourself I mean apart from to do tutorials? I was just wondering if you ever actually use all that stuff you buy for you personally or are you just a cosmetic addict lol
I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on natural make up for men :)
I like to wear make up, but I like to go for the natural look, but somehow people can always tell I'm wearing make up. I wonder if you could make a video specially on that :)
i like the silicopads. i just can't do my eye makeup first. i'd feel like i'm putting on gloss before lip liner. haha. i find that patting the lid color reduces the fall out but i have to do very, very little in the crease in small increments to not have fall out there. and most of the time, i just don't have the time for it. thanks for putting this up! i'm going to have to look into them.
Loove your videos soooooooo much! Thanks for this product information. I agree with you that doing the eyes first is the best route to take at managing fallouts.
What I do is lightly powder under my eye with a cheap translucent powder, then dust it away after. The fallout lands on top of the loose powder and it leave no trace of the eyeshadow left behind :)
hi wayne! i have loads of trouble with the NAKED pallet creasing from my lids down to under my eyes! i use a primer and pat the shadows on sparingly. but halfway through the day i notice they have fallen into fine lines under the eyes. am i then to reapply concealer and blot all day long? HELP!!!!! love :)
you can use a tissue too, but it take a while to get used to holding a tissue with one hand and applying with the other. Plus you can't pull and tug your eyes when your using a tissue which is a bonus for me.
I detest the word "guru" when used on YT with makeup. Most of the "gurus" on YT are kids with a ton of makeup, too much free time and no clue or experience in cosmetics whatsoever. Even those "gurus" who claim to be MUA's must find it tough in the real world if they treat their supposed clients the way they treat their subscribers.
Wayne has experience and is always willing to share his knowledge while respecting his subs who keep him going on YT.
In the 5 years or so since I started wearing my makeup properly (and not just as a grungy eye-liner whore teenager), I've never had fall out bad enough to use any shadow shield type product.
Totally pointless for an eager audience that are spending money senselessly on things that are just not necessary...
hmmm, i thought i was the 'only one' making the eye make up first and then foundantion. Here, on youtube, everyone starts with foundation. Never understood why...
Glad to know that goosmakeupartist does the same :)
I do eye makeup first but I bought the Naked palette and I think the shadows called sidecar... i clean up the fallout but honestly threw out a day or night out i get these glitters under my eyes and its such a bother. Any advice for that ?
Good idea but my eyeshadow always seems to end up on my nose rather than my cheeks, oddly! I wonder if you put them on the other way around they would cover your nose a bit. Is it just me that has this problem??
I've started getting this strange rim under my eyes (where you would conceal dark circles). It isn't from my eyeshadow because I used a very light color to differentiate. It's either from my gel eyeliner or mascara. I've never had this problem before so it might be the heat. Any advice?
I just use a tissue, i can amagine the glue taking off some foundation or concealer.. Not pleasant. I should change my routine and do my eyes first.. Just a habbit i guess! Plus it's nice to have a nice canvas to work on :) xx
OK , you have to tell us what you use on your face. You are so handsome and I love your "just been to the beach " look. Please, how do you achieve it?
I agree i've always done my e/s shadow first so I've never seen the use of any type of shadow shield. Even with the most powdery of shadows I have little to no fall out because of my application. Thanks for sharing I do think it's financially savvy to purchase the silcone ones instead of the disposables. Blessings.
I couldn't help but notice your glowy perfect skin too! It must be the Paula's Choice RESIST weeklY Tx, that thanks to u I tried & am ADDICTED TO! U said ur trying her whole line? Which other products do u recommend?
When I first saw the pic of your eye I thought uh oh he got in the way of a rioter. Not trying to be funny because it isn't, that's just the first thing that popped into my head...
How bout when you put that plastic thing over your foundation when ur doin ur eyes doesnt it take off the foundation i hateeeeee those things i do my eye makeup first too
Fall out is another good reason to use a cream shadow. BTW the new Urban Decay 24/7 jumbo pencils are great for shadow. They tend _not_ to crease and are long-wearing.
Wayne: yes, of course eye makeup first...BUT I will have applied moisturizer & primer before doing the eyes, and super-pigmented dark shadow can be a pain to get off, and tends to smudge under & the eyes - and you also wipe off the primer & tug at your skin.
Although holding a tissue under your eye works perfectly fine. ;)
Great Vid! Could you possible do a video showing what 'creasing' is for the eyes and how to prevent it? I have many times seen videos of people showing products to stop creasing but have never seen one describing what it is! This would help me majorly! X
Heads up this is a bit of a long comment sorry in advance..Hi I have very oily eyelids what's primer would you recomend I have urban decay primer potion it last around 4-5 hours I wanted something Which lasts longer. What do you think of the mac paint pots? Also you said in previous videos that you use primers for the intense colur not for the longegivity. Would you recomend anything else?

No matter what form the eyeshadow fall out guard comes in, I feel that the guard would take off some amount of foundation/concealer already applied when peeled off. As you said, why not putting the eye makeup first!?

when you peel it off wouldnt it take your foundation and everything you put on come off along with it? i mean since its sticky, wouldnt wutever was on your face stick to it and come off too?

Couldn't u just put a translucent powder under the eye and brush it all of instead? Plus that would be ALOT cheaper-right?

Otherwise, as you said, eyes make-up 1st, then foundation.
josephine9975 6 months ago
Wouldn't those just ruin your foundation/powder anyway, when you peel them off? I think it's just easier to layer on the powder and lightly dust off the fallout when you're done.

Hey :)
I hope you see this and can help me out :)
I love what your doing !
Keep it up
Goldennteabgzz 6 months ago
I like all these products -- but I just prefer a tissue paper, they are light and gentle and usually doesn't mess with your makeup. I feel like the sticky part of these shields will peel out some of your foundation when you remove them :(
yakidelight 6 months ago
Do you wear makeup yourself I mean apart from to do tutorials? I was just wondering if you ever actually use all that stuff you buy for you personally or are you just a cosmetic addict lol
PinkLady87uk 6 months ago
Hey :)
I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on natural make up for men :)
I like to wear make up, but I like to go for the natural look, but somehow people can always tell I'm wearing make up. I wonder if you could make a video specially on that :)
Thanks I hope you see this!
Keep it up -3

i like the silicopads. i just can't do my eye makeup first. i'd feel like i'm putting on gloss before lip liner. haha. i find that patting the lid color reduces the fall out but i have to do very, very little in the crease in small increments to not have fall out there. and most of the time, i just don't have the time for it. thanks for putting this up! i'm going to have to look into them.

Seems like a silly bit of extra commercialism to me, like someone sat around thinking "what can we sell people next" kinda unnecessary to me.

Why not just use ®Post It Notes?
sonrisa663 6 months ago
What I do is lightly powder under my eye with a cheap translucent powder, then dust it away after. The fallout lands on top of the loose powder and it leave no trace of the eyeshadow left behind :)
Sabastien24 6 months ago
I've never had an issue with fallout. I just have the habit of tapping my brushes before I apply the shadow to my eyes.
equus418 6 months ago
hi wayne! i have loads of trouble with the NAKED pallet creasing from my lids down to under my eyes! i use a primer and pat the shadows on sparingly. but halfway through the day i notice they have fallen into fine lines under the eyes. am i then to reapply concealer and blot all day long? HELP!!!!! love :)
jayschick1 6 months ago
you can use a tissue too, but it take a while to get used to holding a tissue with one hand and applying with the other. Plus you can't pull and tug your eyes when your using a tissue which is a bonus for me.
AmalAlRumaih 6 months ago
They should make shields to go on the sides of the nose because that's where i get some eyeshadow fallout..
tamicay925 6 months ago
wouldnt the sticky pit pull off the foundation?

I detest the word "guru" when used on YT with makeup. Most of the "gurus" on YT are kids with a ton of makeup, too much free time and no clue or experience in cosmetics whatsoever. Even those "gurus" who claim to be MUA's must find it tough in the real world if they treat their supposed clients the way they treat their subscribers.
Wayne has experience and is always willing to share his knowledge while respecting his subs who keep him going on YT.
Thanks Wayne :)

In the 5 years or so since I started wearing my makeup properly (and not just as a grungy eye-liner whore teenager), I've never had fall out bad enough to use any shadow shield type product.
Totally pointless for an eager audience that are spending money senselessly on things that are just not necessary...
iamamywaterhouse 6 months ago
hmmm, i thought i was the 'only one' making the eye make up first and then foundantion.

123arimarie 6 months ago
Good idea but my eyeshadow always seems to end up on my nose rather than my cheeks, oddly! I wonder if you put them on the other way around they would cover your nose a bit. Is it just me that has this problem??

I've started getting this strange rim under my eyes (where you would conceal dark circles). It isn't from my eyeshadow because I used a very light color to differentiate. It's either from my gel eyeliner or mascara. I've never had this problem before so it might be the heat. Any advice?

I agree i've always done my e/s shadow first so I've never seen the use of any type of shadow shield. Even with the most powdery of shadows I have little to no fall out because of my application. Thanks for sharing I do think it's financially savvy to purchase the silcone ones instead of the disposables. Blessings.

Fall out is another good reason to use a cream shadow. BTW the new Urban Decay 24/7 jumbo pencils are great for shadow. They tend _not_ to crease and are long-wearing.

You are a school on youtube !!!!! I love you
glamourdust 6 months ago
Wayne: yes, of course eye makeup first...BUT I will have applied moisturizer & primer before doing the eyes, and super-pigmented dark shadow can be a pain to get off, and tends to smudge under & the eyes - and you also wipe off the primer & tug at your skin.
Although holding a tissue under your eye works perfectly fine. ;)

Great Vid! Could you possible do a video showing what 'creasing' is for the eyes and how to prevent it? I have many times seen videos of people showing products to stop creasing but have never seen one describing what it is! This would help me majorly! X

What do you think of the mac paint pots? Also you said in previous videos that you use primers for the intense colur not for the longegivity. Would you recomend anything else?
