  • what does MTS stand for?

  • @RyuHoly According to a guide on GameFAQs, it stands for Momentum Turbo Slide.

  • Holy crap. And I thought I was awesome at this game. Nicely done.

  • Im not a fan of the snaking stuff, but the turbo slides, accelator cut offs, etc. I find reasonable.

Same with shift boosting, using these kinds of glitches just ruin the game honestly. Im fine with the other stuff.....

  • triple posting..how do you stop from hitting the wall with an MTS? when i see you execute it it doesnt turn completely or hit a wall i actually LOSE speed when i attempt it because it does a complete 180 spin.. and yes i release A and R

  • ALSO what are usually the recommended machine settings?

  • Crap im so nub...,all i can perform is MTS and Snaking in this game..

  • Aeropolis Dragon Slope. I figured it out.

  • Fantastic video! You should make more.

Could someone tell me what ADS stands for?

  • what is the name of the track?

  • No Snaking in this video? Of course there is! Wait until you see the little circles while the video buffers, then hit one of the arrow keys. THAT'S snaking.

  • I came here looking for F-Zero tips, and I got F-Zero tips AND Dream Theater. Awesome.

  • nice video dude its going to teach me alot, what does MTS, and MTRS, appreviate for though?

  • when we MTRS, should the car be slightly less than 90 degrees to the wall?

  • great vid. REally good of you to make a vid of the advanced techniques. I'd add a few things though. First to anyone who can't pull any of these off 1st time- these techs are very very hard and will take a lot of practice. Also I'd include basic techs like MT and quick turn as well. I think using side attacks should be on here and maybe snaking.

  • Dream Theater! YEY!

  • i hate those letters, cant read them

  • Snaking is Drift Boost or is another thecnique?

  • I'm relatively new to F-Zero GX advanced gameplay. :P When I MTS, I can get a nice solid boost, but as I come out of it, my speed drops dramatically, down to about 800 or so. How would I prevent this?

  • i noticed that most machines used to get world record are ax custom machines. what's a good substitute for ax machines?

  • @slashingrod2 The difference actually isn't as great as most believe. If I'm recalling the names correctly, swap out the maximum star cockpit (that's the AX custom part) with the cannon. That applies to all "-G4" racers: Quick Star-G4, etc.

  • shift boost doesn't work for me, no matter how many times i try it

  • @brainjuice654 Although it CAN be done with all racers, some are incredibly harder to use than others. Try using either the Fat Shark or Gallant Cannon-G4. Also, you can only shiftboost on select parts.

Message me again if you're still having troubles. :)

  • @Live2Bodybuild yeah um, I'm somewhat with brainjuice. HOW THE F*** DO YOU SUCCESSFULLY SHIFT BOOST/!?!??!?!?!!?!?!?! i was using fat shark on lateral shift and as soon as i went off the track i ended up literally off the track!

  • thank you so much. I think you are the King of F zero speed. and I also use a mts nearly every corner but most of the time I turn to sharply into a wall. also could you please tell me what a mtrs is (momentum turbo ???? slide) and I will subscribe

  • @sonicmarioguy Happy to help. :) And MTRS stands for "momentum turbo rail slide." It's an MTS performed against a rail.

  • @Live2Bodybuild thanks. (^-^) on some videos I see people shift boosting when there is no gap and they go really fast. could you please explain.

    (I'm subscribed)

  • @Live2Bodybuild i have a few things to ask. for some reason it's super difficult for me to shift boost. can you give me an explanation? and the fat shark (tao) is an AX machine, correct? also, what's a good GX machine to use for these techniques (besides blackbull). oh and your a legend at this game :)

  • This is for gamecube, I have a gamecube, and I have the money to get the game. WHY HAVN'T I BOUGHT IT YET!!

  • @icontrolyourworld Dude, DOO EET!

  • I'm gonna! You'll see, I'll make you so proud!

  • @icontrolyourworld That's my boy! :)

  • are you one of the type of players who frowns snaking? or do u choose not to use it,? btw very nice video helps alot

  • @BrawlSucksBawls I respect snakers. I just don't exercise it myself. ;)

  • May I ask why? I noticed in most of your vids that your technique is far superior during curves but on straight lines you rely on boosts to keep the pace. If you snaked only on straight lines you would save valuable energy for the after-curves situations while still being as fast as a regular boost.

  • @Rovelius That's certainly true, but then I wouldn't be eligible to compete in max speed competitions (which is my preference). But you're right.

  • Oh I see. I was curious because I haven't been playing the game for long. Thanks for the answer.

  • This game is so freagin' amazing, so many possibilities... So much content... And those advanced techniques that people discovers just make the game even more awesome.

  • Thanks for the vid dude. I've always loved this game and and seeing whats possible makes the game so much more fun :)

  • Not many are able to put that extra SB in the rec at: 1:11.

  • i still dont understand the shift boost

  • What exactly are you having trouble with? Which part? I'd be happy to explain. It's an invaluable technique.

  • thanks. im having trouble with the whole thing :P when i try i always fall off. is it im not doing it fast enough?

  • Hmmm... Well the easiest place to learn is Sand Ocean Lateral Shift (SOLS). Be sure to use a racer that doesn't have a weak grip. I recommend Fat Shark. Try to clip that little gap between lane changes. Use L/R + analog stick left/right. Then let off A until you either reach your base rate speed or the next lane change where you're gonna have to hit A again briefly and repeat the movement.

  • ok thnx i will certainly try that.

  • Yeah, no problem. If you're still having troubles lemme know.

  • alright

  • I've been playing all this time and I never knew anything in this game could be abused so much, LOL

Should make completing some of the chapters on very hard very easy...

  • Great video, exactly the things i was lookin for. 5/5.

  • Happy that it helped. I'd like to make more, but my computer's slowing me up atm :(.

  • Thanks for this video, it's very helpful for beginners :)

One thing I was wondering is: what are the best vehicles for using MTS on straights? I'm trying with Fire Stingray but it's not working out too well :/ I'm looking for some extra speed so I can have a chance to unlock all the tracks!

  • On straights? Like an MTRS? For MTRSs you can really use any racer, however for MTSs the options are reduced significantly. Here are a few to check out: Black Bull, Fat Shark, Quick Star-G4, Gallant Star-G4, Gallant Cannon-G4. Any more questions, just ask.

  • Thanks! I'll try the Black Bull since I don't have the custom parts to make a decent ship yet.

  • Is Acro Cannon -G4 a good machine for this? Too diferent from the Gallant Cannon you mentioned above?

  • Im trying to learn MTS on lighting Loop Cross and I can't seem to maintain a high speed after the turn and I have a hard time not crashing during the move. What cab I be doing wrong?

  • Hmm... Well what racer are you using? Seemingly slight changes can make a significant difference. Also, remember to release A during the turn or you'll lose more speed than can be justified.

  • I'm using Black Shadow on Lightning Loop Cross (training it there).

I can reach something near 1500 during the move but after I finish doing it my speed falls to 700 and I don't know why.

Also I can't seem to reach a high speed for mine boosting, If I release A the speed I get is about the same as just running over the mine. (Using Black Bull on Serial Gaps for this)

  • damn nice video , exactly the stuff i was lookin for .

  • Glad it was helpful. I'm gonna try to get a second one up if my computer will ever let me.

  • @ 1:28 u say MT shouldn't is be SB???

  • No. You MT AFTER you SB. An MT is releasing the A button at really high speeds to reduce your rate of deceleration. Always MT right after you SB.

  • He he, Dream Theater is a more than adequate replacement IMHO.

  • Hell yeah!! I just thought that in-game music may be more helpful ;).

  • Man, using all these techniques in one race can generate MASSIVE satisfaction when you pwn staff ghosts with them.

    >:( Stupid staff ghosts and their cheating machines.

  • I think you forgot about the snaking technique but im not sure if you did forget.

Great job though making the tutorial. :)

  • Snaking is a technique that provides such extreme boost in speed that obliterates most of the other techniques uses (with little exception for MTS and SB)

It's another driving style, with his own techniques to know. In fact on the official site we have separate ladders, for Max speed, for snaking, and another "open" ladder, which also allows checkpoint skipping and whatever you want.

  • lol none of my posts are going through. But you're right.

  • Great video, it will help new players. :)

    5/5

  • 4x SB must be some kind of SB WR. 1:55

  • Im the only one to do quadruple SBs on this track for world records. And I do a triple on every other lap. Not easy =P.

  • This reminds me of good times on the MFO ladder. I only got good at a few of these, though :[

  • is this a game i can dl?

  • Nah, sorry dude. It's for the Gamecube. Great game.

  • haha how did you record this than? did you just put the camera in front of your TV?

anyways i saw this at gamestop but i'm all like "I have the money and NTM thinks it's a good game but i think i'll leave it" rofl

  • Ah man, I was thinking about making a video guide to these techniques. I planned on a live demonstration with extreme examples added on. Well I might do one anyways. Nice job.

  • Yeah you should do it, man.

  • Nice work!... :D 5/5 as always ^^

  • Insane, thanks!

  • nice of you to make a video. Firstly you could have added that the sb speed is determine by how little you use L/R. basicly shorter "gap" equals bigger sb's. That's why 9 out 10 times "on track" sb's are much stronger than the "Out and in" sb's. secondly, there is a program where you can add stuff in your video, like a gamecube controller, and show it there how to do the techs as someone before wanted. Midiman made one of those.

  • Very true. I actually omitted several details though. I just didnt want the video to be too long. My crappy computer cant handle it. As it is with its current length the quality was noticeably compromised (tiny glitches). I might make a second video though. Also could you link me to that program youre referring to? Sounds kool.

  • I can't recall the program, just remeber Tony Thai/Midiman using it in one of his spaceflying videos. And I don't know how to contact him.

  • Great job, someone HAD to do it.

  • lol Yeah. I figured I might as well do it myself. I might make a second one too for some added tips/details.

And thanks, CGN. SBing that fast on CTT is pretty tough. A perfect CTT run has never been performed by anybody to date.

  • Awesome Guide. Liked your SBing from1:35 - 1:48 very good.

  • Very nice video, but you should how to do it on the controller as well. Meaning have a view of the controller while doing the technique in slow motion. That way it gives a better understanding. And one question, for shift boosting, is it only heavy weight machines that can do it, or can it be done with every machine?

  • Good idea. And I'd do that, but I don't have a camera :(. And heavier machines are better for SBing because they have more momentum for the MT that follows. However they can be done with any machine. Grip quality is also an important factor. For example, the Black Bull is terrible at SBing while the Fat Shark is amazing.

  • That's what i thought, just wanted to be sure. And too bad you don't have a camera.

  • Yeah I'm kinda limited with what I can do. :(
