This is pretty awesome... I love the splicing, because it's a very relevant similarity between three very cool properties. Similarities I've certainly noticed myself, and love all three all the more for it. ~noirgwio
My favorite scenes would have to be Motoko(Hardly debatable, I mean did you see her) then it would be the Metal Gear scenes because it's one of the best gaming franchises ever. I'm a fan of both, The Matrix it's okay.
Metal Gear came first people the first game came out in the 80's or early 90's and no I am not talking about Metal Gear Solid. People know your history. Ghost in the Shell came out before the Matrix.
I'm confused. Did you make this to show everyone how similar these all are or is it a tribute to mgs, the matrix, and GITS? either way this whole video kicks ass.
Metal Gear Solid went shit after the first one. The first was awesome. The rest-- I have no idea what the creators were smoking when they made. The first was like a metaphor to the real world. The rest were just retarded and far-fetched conspiracy theories mixed with supernatural shit and with each series they'd completely undo the character development of the last.
Metal Gear Solid and Ghost in the Shell. Two of a few of my core inspirations that have driven me to be an artist. Never could have the Matrix series top off near that. Maybe i should watch them again.
There's a few scenes you put on here that i don't recognize though, like the one where Motoko is struggling in a bunch scenes where she's apparently in some net diving suit or something. were those from the psp release?
@InfinityWard312 well yeah but not completely invisible though. I meant something that looks like optical camouflage like in the first predator movie.
Don't forget Ghost in the shell, The Matrix and the first MGS were also inspired by Blade Runner and Terminator 2. The first Terminator was most likely inspired by some of Blade Runner.
I am sure the Matrix trilogy and consequently, the matrix online and its video games were base on Ghost in the Shell. The Wachoski brothers said so themselves. It also inspired many, many other anime and movies. But Metal gear's only similarity to ghost in the shell is the Optical Camo. DO NOT compare ghost in the shell to anything since it is an original Master pieces and it has its class of its own. So does Metal Gear and the matrix trilogy. Interesting video though.
sigh... you know I think Solid Snake (yet I prefer Big Boss) and the Major are both awesome characters. I often say that if Snake was a woman, he would be Motoko Kusanagi. They're both so cool !
The similitaries between Gits and the Matrix were made on purpose, the Matrix's creators even explained how took some inspiration from it. But I wonder about MGS... maybe they did, they referenced movies after all... I guess they took inspiration from animes, judging by the non realistic combat moves.
awesome vid! by the way where did you get the song that was playing during the credits? i know it's from gits the first movie , the hong kong scene more specifically. i didn't knew that there was a remix. thanks in advance.
In Metal Gear Solid, they actually talk about anime (when you reach Dr. Emmerich) so i feel that they sorta gave credit where it was due. By putting that part into the game, they are letting the player know that they are aware, and not afraid to admit, that there are similarities int heir work and in anime. so i don't think they were trying to blatantly copy off of anything, they were just paying homage to their inspirations.
its not so much how its presented thats creepy. Its the content of what its about thats creepy. Imagine how awesome it could be to plug yourself into the internet. But then imagine what could happen to yourself if a hacker hacked into your brain. Dangerous stuff man. One hacker could find a way to control everyone who pluged into the internet.
You wonder if something that looks alive on the surface, is actually alive or not
On the other hand, you wonder if something with no life is actually alive
If you wonder where the creepiness of a doll comes from it is because dolls are models of human beings; in other words, they are nothing more than humans themselves.

@opp861 Well the original 2D Metal Gear came out before the GITS movie, but back then it didn't have the style that Metal Gear SOLID does today. Everything was much more typical G.I. Joe-looking before MGS; when Shinkawa became lead art designer and all that
@yuyuzja Still kinda close the art work that lead up to MGS started When they made metal gear 2:solid snake the re-released version where The Finale face of snake was made and even then the first MGS game came out only 3 years after the first GITS movie so they would have already been working on it before that movie came their no way they changed art styles right in the end process of making MGS 1 be its possible
@9snaker but you know Hideo Kojima made Zone of Enders as well so he can not copy if it that is his as well and it was a video game before it was an anime as well but i get what you are talking about They all kinda toke something from each other probably because they all kinda have the same style going on
@opp861 Sorry but you said "MGS" Stands for Metal Gear Solid right? thats from 1998.
and Gits is from 1989... whom was first? if you talk about the 2D games... the art work was inspired by kyle reese from the terminator... there was no "future-istic" look for metal gear untill 1998 which was After ghost in the shell so in all fair good ness... Your wrong opp861so very very wrong.
@warriorcomic I just said metal gear in the comment you replied too and then someone already said what you said a whole YEAR AGO I still do not think metal gear nor metal gear solid copies ghost in the shell their just all in the same cyber punk genre either way your Year late the uploaded of the video already said that and not as in a smart ass way like you.
@opp861 i feel flattered but you don't need to call me smart. and i apologize that i don't read all the comments. i was just pointing out that most of Metal gears "artwork" or any concept was not entirely given the thought through until 1998. and in the 2 versions before 1998 they weren't into the Cyber punk genre that came later.
What Yuyuzja said is that GITS is the father of the whole genre.
@warriorcomic Well there's Akira a big cyber punk movie before Ghost in the shell came out that is still relevant and copied till this day. also the book's written by willam Gibson also before ghost in the shell big starts of cyber punk. also like some other guy said here the movie Blade Runner 1982 was a cyberpunk movie that came out way before ghost in the shell and stood time as its still not forgotten all of those things big accomplishments before ghost in the shell.
@warriorcomic And that's the last thing I am saying on it if you are trying to say ghost in the shell invented a whole genre single handed even with the phrase "cyber punk" already a genre before it existed and already books and films of cyber punk existing before it came and then re start back something from a whole year ago that was already said and we already came to the conclusion that metal gear solid had cyber punk style after gits (still not saying it copied them).
@warriorcomic And that's the last thing I am saying on it if you are trying to say ghost in the shell invented a whole genre single handed even with the phrase "cyber punk" already a genre before it existed and already books and films of cyber punk existing before it came and then re start back something from a whole year ago that was already said and we already came to the conclusion that metal gear solid had cyber punk style after gits still not saying it copied them whats your point of this?
@opp861 I am just curious... that's all. Gits never invented Cyber punk neither did i imply it.
But Gits gave a twist onto the whole genre, just like TF. And MG adepted it. There is a clear pattern to Gits and other Look-a-like Mech-tech. non the less when i asked... if you got something else for me that had a big impact, you can't reply on it. i was just curious about other peoples work/thoughts/perspectives, but apparently you feel attacked or something. (stay off drugs kids its bad!) peace.
@YouthNando most probably. There's that jump with the therm optic cammouflage, and, in MGS 1 the elevator scene, also qith the therm optic cammouflage that is obvious reference to the part where togusa examined the elevator with thermal vision due to some suspicious behaviour of the very lift.
@YouthNando People have speculated since most of the creators of said shows, movies, mangas, etc...used this art style because it fit the purposes...honestly thats the only real reason for it...BUT...they used this art style because they saw what the art style could do...its all about their preferences...so yes...the scenes are all loosely based on each other.
@YouthNando sorry this is a verrrrrry late reply dont even know if you get to see this its all acted by actors nothing is inspired or annything kojima has these kind ovf visions in heis head and he makes them reality
What's wrong with putting Metal Gear Solid with The Matrix? And what's the heck is wrong with The Twin Snakes?! It's way better then MGS2, and it has way better graphics then the MGS. Don't mess with the Twin Snakes, 'cause when you mess with Snake, you mess with the WolfDragon!!!
I'm sorry to tell you this, but the "Snake" you see in "The Twin Snakes" is much stupider than the original one. I mean, the original Snake...I respect that one a lot, even though he's just a "polygon character".
Alright, so maybe Snake was a little clueless sometimes. I mean, Meryl said her head hurt then Snake said, "What's wrong?" And Otacon was a kinda dumb, but Snake was still way cooler in this game then in MGS2. And you still didn't answer my question of why putting MGS with The Matrix is bad.
I only have one simple answer for now...because Solid Snake is not NEO. I mean, they used too many "Matrix-styled" slow-motion effects, without considering the really necessary parts for that use. Solid Snake wasn't so skilled when he finished his mission on Shadow Moses island. And if Mister Ryuhei thinks they can run away with the changes in history, he's wrong. Well, I admit Ryuhei did a good job with the action sequences, but the over-use of "Matrix-styled" slow-motion effects was too much.
I'm sorry to break it to you man, but everybody copies the Matrix because it was awesome. Besides, Snake was way cooler like that, but it is pretty dumb that he wasn't like that ever again.
Alright dude, let's just forget about it. I don't own a playstation, so I don't know much about the original. But I freaking want a PS3 so I can play MGS4 when it comes out!
It's because they were trying to make it like a live action animae. And Hideo Kojima wanted the Twin Snakes to be like an animae too. So take that gamecube haters.
Well, the GameCube is just the platform they wanted to put this remake in. But even if 'The Twin Snakes' was ported for PlayStation 2, it would still have the same results.
I just can't understand people saying that Twin Snakes aint a good game, sure it is! But as they say nothing beats the original. I sure wish they ported this on the PS2.
actually the wachowski brothers found an old manga which was called something else but it in fact was "the matrix" they just put THAT manga on screen just like with "speed racer" it was an anime in the 80's
sorry to burst your bubble but that manga was ghost in the shell....and it wasnt the manga it was the anime and another anime called akira...they said so in an interveiw...
oh was it? oh its just i thought it was a bit odd that in the drawn storyboard neo had longer hair and i think it was in japanese so then i assumed it was an old manga some1 else made
@9snaker no i've seen it on a Matrix DVD i have "The Matrix Revisited" if i knew how to get my DVDs onto here or even if i still have it for that matter, i'd find it and see if i was right or wrong, but i swear i saw video footage of it before.
Awesome! That was the coolest vid ever! But I think it should have had stuff from the AniMatrix as well. Like from 'Finale Flight of the Osiris'. But it was still awesome!
I had read of the similarities between The Matrix and GITS, and that the Watchowskis admitted it as some of their inspirations for the movie, but I never saw the two put together. It's cool that you did that. And putting Metal Gear in with it? Well that's just great!
I never noticed some of the similarities between The Matrix and Ghost In The Shell, thanks.
When you said Helicopter seen I thought you meant the one from the first Ghost In The Shell movie when Major is on her way to the building by the pier. I always loved that part because of the music. Then when she's fighting the tank, it reminds me a lot of Snake running with a FAMAS. Her and Snake's kids would kick all kinds of ass.
LOL, yep, too bad it's be doubly impossible with her being a cyborg and him being sterile. That's probably a good thing though, the world isn't ready for that much ass to be kicked.
@MessIahmake ironically they all have the stealth camo! My money's on the major

It's no surprise the matrix was inspired by ghost in the shell because the Wachowski brothers where big into anime.

Please, don't mix "Metal Gear" with "The Matrix". It reminds me of that "The Twin Snakes" remake for the Nintendo GameCube.

WolfDragon358 4 years ago
I'm sorry to tell you this, but the "Snake" you see in "The Twin Snakes" is much stupider than the original one. I mean, the original Snake...I respect that one a lot, even though he's just a "polygon character".
filipeflower 4 years ago
But in "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes", Snake points his SOCOM pistol at the Armstech president's head. Was it really necessary to do that?
filipeflower 4 years ago
Alright, so maybe Snake was a little clueless sometimes. I mean, Meryl said her head hurt then Snake said, "What's wrong?" And Otacon was a kinda dumb, but Snake was still way cooler in this game then in MGS2. And you still didn't answer my question of why putting MGS with The Matrix is bad.
WolfDragon358 4 years ago

WolfDragon358 4 years ago
That's because he WASN'T like that in the original game!
filipeflower 4 years ago 2
Alright dude, let's just forget about it. I don't own a playstation, so I don't know much about the original. But I freaking want a PS3 so I can play MGS4 when it comes out!
WolfDragon358 4 years ago
Alright. Good luck, then.
filipeflower 4 years ago
every one copies the matrix?? matric=x came AFTER ghost in the shell. tha watchowiski or watever brother ripped of..i mean were in fluenced by gits
pocky047 3 years ago
It's because they were trying to make it like a live action animae. And Hideo Kojima wanted the Twin Snakes to be like an animae too. So take that gamecube haters.
Vamp rules!
WolfDragon358 3 years ago
Who said I'm a GameCube hater?
filipeflower 3 years ago
I'm not saying you are, but some people don't like it because it's on the gamecube.
WolfDragon358 3 years ago 8
Well, the GameCube is just the platform they wanted to put this remake in. But even if 'The Twin Snakes' was ported for PlayStation 2, it would still have the same results.
filipeflower 3 years ago
I just can't understand people saying that Twin Snakes aint a good game, sure it is! But as they say nothing beats the original. I sure wish they ported this on the PS2.
weichiang 3 years ago
actually the wachowski brothers found an old manga which was called something else but it in fact was "the matrix" they just put THAT manga on screen just like with "speed racer" it was an anime in the 80's
innerguardianXIII 3 years ago
sorry to burst your bubble but that manga was ghost in the shell....and it wasnt the manga it was the anime and another anime called akira...they said so in an interveiw...
pocky047 3 years ago
oh was it? oh its just i thought it was a bit odd that in the drawn storyboard neo had longer hair and i think it was in japanese so then i assumed it was an old manga some1 else made
innerguardianXIII 3 years ago
@innerguardianXIII
or forget it, i think you didn't know well what you wrote..
9snaker 10 months ago
@9snaker no i've seen it on a Matrix DVD i have "The Matrix Revisited" if i knew how to get my DVDs onto here or even if i still have it for that matter, i'd find it and see if i was right or wrong, but i swear i saw video footage of it before.
innerguardianXIII 10 months ago
@innerguardianXIII
ok if it was NOT Ghost in the Shell i'd like to know more, just for curiosity's sake
(not cause i wanna diss matrix) but i find it interesting, that it was them who told this,
i mean that they admitted that
9snaker 10 months ago
@innerguardianXIII
have you any clue how the name of the anime was/is or could you find it out?
it would be VERY interesting, to prove if you are right and how that looks!
9snaker 10 months ago
Awesome! That was the coolest vid ever! But I think it should have had stuff from the AniMatrix as well. Like from 'Finale Flight of the Osiris'. But it was still awesome!
WolfDragon358 4 years ago
Thanks! Yeah, you're right. I thought of that, but it took me forever just to find the footage I have in this vid, and I was really tired. ^_^;

I had read of the similarities between The Matrix and GITS, and that the Watchowskis admitted it as some of their inspirations for the movie, but I never saw the two put together. It's cool that you did that. And putting Metal Gear in with it? Well that's just great!
RevolverPhantom 4 years ago
I never noticed some of the similarities between The Matrix and Ghost In The Shell, thanks.
When you said Helicopter seen I thought you meant the one from the first Ghost In The Shell movie when Major is on her way to the building by the pier. I always loved that part because of the music. Then when she's fighting the tank, it reminds me a lot of Snake running with a FAMAS. Her and Snake's kids would kick all kinds of ass.
Solidishness 4 years ago
LOL, yep, too bad it's be doubly impossible with her being a cyborg and him being sterile. That's probably a good thing though, the world isn't ready for that much ass to be kicked.
yuyuzja 4 years ago
Major is soooo sexy!!
That being said this video is awesome!
I noticed the comparisons too while watching the first GITS movie. The series is pretty badass, but the movie just takes it for me.
Solidishness 4 years ago
Yeah, I always loved the movie, even though the series is cool, too. Probably because I saw the movie first. I remember when I first saw it.
