  • he should have flipped the bird to the bird ;D

  • Yeah, great video. I had a magpie try that on me flying the Auckland west coast.

Little bugger was going for my wingtips to try and take me out.

  • Haha that is one determined magpie, awesome video

  • Hahaha! Cool video! I´ve never seen anyone turn around in a glider like that :)

  • Fantastic - wonderful footage

  • Yes he (or she) was pecking mostly my feet but would go for the top of the wing now and then and chew the trailing edge.

  • That's so funny man . . did he make contact with your feet?

  • i had no idea you could fly backwards!

  • I hate magpies, being swooped is horrible.

  • "Come to me!"

    "No!"

    "Come to meeeee!"

    "NO! I kill you!"

Probably just trying to get the bigger bird to drop the tasty morsel.

  • evil bird

  • Greatest video. Ever.

  • this is it. this would be the video that convinces me to invest in the sport and get my license. thanks :) ps. loved the backwards flying. never knew that was possible.

  • Wow! For how long did the bird follow you?

  • Three cheers for the bird!

  • I'd like to have such bird to fly with!

  • 2 cool man were u afraid that guy was huge and pissed, there is a video of a bigger white bird chasing pilots around the sky at hangliding mcclure.this is on youtube

  • farking farny...! great video footage..

    that little bird @#$*&@ relentless..

  • Awesome vid. Exactly where was it filmed in OZ? I would love to holiday there and fly my butt off.

  • In New south wales, Newcastle. The site is Merewether. If you want to see the bird you will have to be quick. Nesting season lasts for another 4 weeks, then he will be back to normal.

  • Hey I came across a forum where you had posted this video. Though I've since lost track of the forums web site. Would you mind posting the address here.

    thanks

  • What is amazing is not the magpie attacking but the pilot pivoting around and flying "backwards".

  • The bird was less keen to come in a peck me if I was looking at him.

  • Could not agree with you more BatteryIncluded!!

  • Wow Unbelievable !

  • Cool vid, typical magpie always attacking with your back turned!!!
