this is the problem with nvidia graphics card.i had the same problem. This is the flaw from nvidia .hence dell replaced my motherboard with free of cost even warranty expired
Try my copper shim to lower your gpu temps and keep your laptop from failing. It is only $7 and comes with thermal paste. Search for "M1330 copper shim" on ebay.
well I fixed my problem...i removed the screen completely (detaching the keyboard first) then cleaned the connections as well as removing the backing...gutsy move but w/ warranty gone had no choice.
i've got the same problem. did u fix yours? i've got a sony vaio and a nvidia 8600 ..so that's seems too be issue, the told me that they will replace it without charge.
Same thing happened to me, your video card is toast. If your computer is no longer in warenty then it cost about $700 because you have to replace the entire motherboard. Try plugging in an external monitor. It may not work.
Odd. Mine just kept crashing when I tried to launch a game application. Then it booted to a white screen. At least they fixed these faults for free.

1. Press F8 when computer starts.
2. Run operating system in safe mode. Uninstall graphic card driver.
3. Restart computer and check if You can work standard VGA mode.
4. Cheers from Poland.

if tabamfoever is correct, what sense does it make to spend $700 on a repair? You might as well just buy a brand new laptop
