My dad blasted this song so loudly on his quardaphonic hifi system, that everyone outside in the park acrosse the street partied. Our neighbors hated us. Hehehehe!
Hermosa canción. Van McCoy tiene otra hermosa versión instrumental. The Stylistics y Van McCoy trabajaron estrechamente.
this song was on the flipside of "star on a tv show" which went to #13 on the soul charts breaking the stylistics top ten streak starting with "you're a big girl now" (#7) and ending with "heavy fallin out" (#4). if the 45 of which "star" appeared on were turned over and the "B"side (the song above) was played instead on the radio a lot producing mega sales, i'm sure the top ten hits would have continued bringing this groups top ten hits to #13( "thank you, baby"[ #7] would have made it 14).
Thank you for posting this Van McCoy/Stylistics dance classic, from the 1974 album, "Heavy," as well as the 'B' side of the "Star on a TV Show" single. We also play the instrumental version by Van McCoy. Still great music! DAVEDJ
flamin brilliant. love the Stylistics, love this track, way under rated. they simply dont make em like this anymore. For infinity people, for infimity............!!!!!!!
THIS SONG IS A CLASSIC!!! I remember this song when i was 8 years old. The Stylistics was a talented group that made many hits during this era. I remember this song was on a episode of Good times TV series.
"Girl, I'm really put together! But girl, I ain't gonna last forever..." is quite an obvious innuendo suggesting endowment and desire, don't ya think? Love this song!

They are one of the reasons I consider the 60's & 70's as the greatest decades in Rock & Roll music history.
Boy! This takes me back to when I was a youth of 21yrs in NYC and attending CCNY.
