wtf? is there any place on youtube without discussions who´s nation is the best? listen, suckers: rock´n´roll was made of blues but blues came from africa so africa is where rock´n´roll was born and now shut the fuck up.
This was the everclear I was introduced to, and the everclear I loved. Never did like much after sparkle and fade. Its like a soundtrack, that conjures up so many images and emotions and paints such a picture.
am i the only one who wants to know if esther was a real person? oh and it makes me mad that i was only four when all this happened. I completely missed out!
@jaimelex Art did an interview years ago and said that his songs were based on real events and people in his life. I recall that his girlfriend and his brother both died of heroin/drug overdoses...I would venture a guess and say that Esther was the girlfriend who died. "Sparkle and Fade" was mainly about his dealings with drugs and the people.
To everyone going on and on about 'pop music' being a recent phenomenon, all I have to say is...
The Village People, REO Speedwagon, Loverboy, David Soul, Paul Revere, Paper Lace, Player, Raydio, Leo Sayer, Silver Convention, Partridge Family, Pilot, Hall and Oats, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Olivia Newton-John, Barry Manilow, Jefferson Airship (and Starship), Andy Gibb, Leif Garrett, Exile, Bad Company, The Osmonds, Captain and Tenile, Peaches and Cream..see where this is going huh?
@MMonnier2302 American history? What do Yanks have to do with the Beatles? They went there once, their managers and producers were all Pommies, all their music was recorded in the UK. Not seeing where the U.S. comes into it at all really. Pardon my ignorance, but could you perhaps explain?
Almost all decent musso cites them as an inspiration, and you can hear their influence in just about everything.
@2sick2care don't worry man someone must have forgot to tell you this but umm....
THE MUSIC! we made rock n roll pal recognize the king why do you think the beatles never covered his songs back in the day? because they knew they could never touch him.
sorry but without americans there would be no rock n roll in the first place it's true we made it, the UK just made it better haha.
but still you forgot that the beatles stole most of their coolness from bob dylan so yea you lose.
@NoelleNabob What about Nirvana? What about Radiohead? Pavement? I could go on. And that's just well known bands. There were a lot of great lesser known bands in the 90's. That pop shit didn't start coming out until the late 90's. Plus you forget that the 90's was the golden era of hip hop.
You know, most of the music of the 90's sucked. It was all Brittany Spears, and Backstreet Boys. But than one band stood out, and it was Everclear. And I think they are one of the best rock bands EVER!
i ve seen this group3 times in concert and even got to shake the mans hand and get his autograph on a cd,1 dollar bill and shirt. they would give me whatever i needed formy disease!!! its a shame because his stuff was awesome and i dont mean just the songs on the radio. his whole cds were the sh-t!!! need more artists like him now, todays music has no meaning and all the same.
it su-ks that we have to listen to non-artists. today all ugotta do is look good and sing. love ya art!!!
Dammnnn.. old school. i love this song. You are right myhunter, they don't make shit like they did. Now all you guys have is bullshit bands like fucking.. err.. what are they called? Eh... well you get the picture.. they suck. LOL
This is what was playing in my cd player the day I learned to drive. AHHH memories.... I can flash back everytime I hear this song to me almost leaving my transmission on the roadside when I tried to shift... HAHA...
Yeah man, turned 14 in '92. Best fuckin time period to love music. This latest generation has a lot to learn when it comes to the music they have in their lives!
I was there when they filmed that @ the burnside skatepark. So many awesome skaters showed up and just ripped, to bad they didn't put in any footage of them (thats what I thought they were doing there)
I remember being I think in 9th grade when this came out, I could see how that would be such a bummer to have been there and thinking that would be in there but I remember reading about back then the labels seemed to push or make decisions for the bands, but everclear had the whole surf-punk guitar thing so it would make sense to have skaters hittin it all up in this video!
"I heard a policeman say 'Just another overdose'" still stands as one of the most powerful phrases in music... I remember my friends around me trying to keep me conscious one night when I got alcohol poisoning. This song played over and over while I vomited to it... kinda sticks with ya deeply that way ;-)
uh huh...maybe he should RESSURRECT for Melissa Marr
