  • uh huh...maybe he should RESSURRECT for Melissa Marr

    }>:)

  • pure original Everclear an honest punk song sung from the heart and from experience.

  • wtf? is there any place on youtube without discussions who´s nation is the best? listen, suckers: rock´n´roll was made of blues but blues came from africa so africa is where rock´n´roll was born and now shut the fuck up.

best country in the world is GERMANY!

  • This was the everclear I was introduced to, and the everclear I loved. Never did like much after sparkle and fade. Its like a soundtrack, that conjures up so many images and emotions and paints such a picture.

  • am i the only one who wants to know if esther was a real person? oh and it makes me mad that i was only four when all this happened. I completely missed out!

  • @jaimelex Art did an interview years ago and said that his songs were based on real events and people in his life. I recall that his girlfriend and his brother both died of heroin/drug overdoses...I would venture a guess and say that Esther was the girlfriend who died. "Sparkle and Fade" was mainly about his dealings with drugs and the people.

  • am i the only one who wants to know if esther was a real person?

  • that's the weakest and shittiest mosh pit i've ever seen. pathetic!

  • To everyone going on and on about 'pop music' being a recent phenomenon, all I have to say is...

The Village People, REO Speedwagon, Loverboy, David Soul, Paul Revere, Paper Lace, Player, Raydio, Leo Sayer, Silver Convention, Partridge Family, Pilot, Hall and Oats, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Olivia Newton-John, Barry Manilow, Jefferson Airship (and Starship), Andy Gibb, Leif Garrett, Exile, Bad Company, The Osmonds, Captain and Tenile, Peaches and Cream..see where this is going huh?

    I'm outta room:(

  • @2sick2care you forgot the beatles

  • @MMonnier2302 Gasp!! Philistine!! LOL. **Turns and bows to the God Lennon**

  • @2sick2care No the beatles were the greatest pop band in American history. I dont consider them Rock.

  • @MMonnier2302 American history? What do Yanks have to do with the Beatles? They went there once, their managers and producers were all Pommies, all their music was recorded in the UK. Not seeing where the U.S. comes into it at all really. Pardon my ignorance, but could you perhaps explain?

Almost all decent musso cites them as an inspiration, and you can hear their influence in just about everything.

    You'll understand when you're big, lol:D

  • @2sick2care don't worry man someone must have forgot to tell you this but umm....

THE MUSIC! we made rock n roll pal recognize the king why do you think the beatles never covered his songs back in the day? because they knew they could never touch him.

sorry but without americans there would be no rock n roll in the first place it's true we made it, the UK just made it better haha.

but still you forgot that the beatles stole most of their coolness from bob dylan so yea you lose.

  • i had a heion gril but she dyed of a overdosae ayear ago

  • @bonerofpo5 yes, "heoin" tends to make people "dyed". what color did she become?

  • @cityofwalls Blahahahahahahahaha...wheeze...hahahahahahaha}:D

  • they just played here sat and kicked ass. i hung out with Art after the show for a bit, awesome down to earth guy.

  • Goddamned right!

  • hell yeah this is what I'm talking about! 90's will be considered as great as the 70's were when it comes to music. just wait and see!

  • 0:42 kid with a misfits t shirt. AWESOME

  • The only good band that came out of the 90's.

  • @NoelleNabob What about Nirvana? What about Radiohead? Pavement? I could go on. And that's just well known bands. There were a lot of great lesser known bands in the 90's. That pop shit didn't start coming out until the late 90's. Plus you forget that the 90's was the golden era of hip hop.

  • @mmobrowa I guess that's true.. Also, I was only alive for half of the 90's anyway. Can't expect me to know 90's too well.

  • You know, most of the music of the 90's sucked. It was all Brittany Spears, and Backstreet Boys. But than one band stood out, and it was Everclear. And I think they are one of the best rock bands EVER!

  • Mypartofthething, if you are asked to removes this video, please supply the name of the entity, company or individual.

I will boycott anything that is sold by the copyright holders that wish to remove this musical piece of art.

  • i ve seen this group3 times in concert and even got to shake the mans hand and get his autograph on a cd,1 dollar bill and shirt. they would give me whatever i needed formy disease!!! its a shame because his stuff was awesome and i dont mean just the songs on the radio. his whole cds were the sh-t!!! need more artists like him now, todays music has no meaning and all the same.

it su-ks that we have to listen to non-artists. today all ugotta do is look good and sing. love ya art!!!

  • to disasterpiece112 you sound like a bitter old cunt if ppl remeninise let them you sad sack

  • Love this song!!! And I miss mine!!!

  • Why aren't there any albums like this coming out now? What the fuck happened to music?

  • FUCK!! I miss these days!!!!!!

THEY FOUND HER OUT IN THE FIELD ABOUT A MILE FROM HOME - HER FACE WAS WARM FROM THE SUN BUT HER BODY WAS COLD

  • This album is so classic its beyond words!

  • I love this band's older work.

  • Comment removed

  • looks like it was a really fun video to make for the band

  • Fucking rad. I love how there's a dude with a misfits t-shirt in the background during the last few seconds.

  • this music is the shit @ t-paper both you can understand the words and meaning of the song so rock on

  • Dammnnn.. old school. i love this song. You are right myhunter, they don't make shit like they did. Now all you guys have is bullshit bands like fucking.. err.. what are they called? Eh... well you get the picture.. they suck. LOL

  • yeah at the skate park. i used to shoot up under there where they have the saturday market now. bad days

  • nostalgia... how I f*cking hate this word. If something rules it rules... bottom line. THIS RULES! F*Ck nostalgia

  • then get off the internet you pussy

  • hey dumbasses...

that was a sarcastic comment to the stanada08 comment

geez , i thought it was obvious

  • you sound like a whiny little 15 year old virgin

  • you a peeno like???

  • This is what was playing in my cd player the day I learned to drive. AHHH memories.... I can flash back everytime I hear this song to me almost leaving my transmission on the roadside when I tried to shift... HAHA...

  • 90's was about rock & metal music!

  • I used to listen to sparkle and fade on repeat. i remember being a 9 year old and already knowing what heroin was. lol

  • im so happy i grew up at this time. but even the kids today can get good quality stuff 2day. the moshpit is still alive in Australia

  • its been a while since those guys wrote a song like that dammit Art went and grew up he gives me hope as a guy who is off key

  • man this takes me back, 92-99, what an awesome time to be a teenager, feel sorry for this Britney generation of losers

  • Turned 13 in 1992 and 20 in 1999, perfect timing eh? I got to experience such great music.

  • Me too, what an era man, we're the grunge gen too

  • Yeah man, turned 14 in '92. Best fuckin time period to love music. This latest generation has a lot to learn when it comes to the music they have in their lives!

  • wow? do I love this! thank you. Lee.

  • this is actually a lot better than anything else I've heard by Everclear.

  • this song is just right for me right now....wierd...-_-

  • This music video is so simple yet so awesome as well.

  • WTF with 22 seconds of silence at the start?

All the same, thanks for posting - this is from one of the truly great 90's records.

  • The only Everclear song worth listening to. A lot, at that.

  • total 90s guilty pleasure, didnt really like anything else by these guys....

  • esther, dude, esther.......

  • back when they use to be good

  • Is he saying Hester, like Hester Prynne? i'm too lazy to look up the lyrics. ha

  • He's saying "Esther", like a girls name.

  • oooh ok thank you :)

  • ahh good old days...wish this sort of stuff would make a resurgence...grunge and heavy shit...drown out all the hip hop/pop/dance garbage..

  • Fucking hellya thats what Im talkin bout. Grunge/metal/grunge-metal is the fucking king of music. Because it's real music. Not fucking Kanye West.

  • oh the 90th

  • Thank you for posting! Definitely one of my all time favorite songs.

  • god dammit fuck my life

  • my tits are hurting right now

  • kicks almost all of the rocks bals

  • ummm, why does he have the Deathly Hallows symbol on his shirt???

  • Oh, lol. I see now, I says CD. Haahahaha. Im so stupid!!!

  • what's really going on !! or wrong

  • Absolutley awesome!!!!! Nostalgia central!!

  • Yeah, such a poinient moment for skating and Music. I think that Everclear will be remembered just a tad bit more than the skaters of the time.

  • I was there when they filmed that @ the burnside skatepark. So many awesome skaters showed up and just ripped, to bad they didn't put in any footage of them (thats what I thought they were doing there)

  • I remember being I think in 9th grade when this came out, I could see how that would be such a bummer to have been there and thinking that would be in there but I remember reading about back then the labels seemed to push or make decisions for the bands, but everclear had the whole surf-punk guitar thing so it would make sense to have skaters hittin it all up in this video!

  • If you think about it, skateboarding & heroin don't go together too well... :P

  • Is it me or do the main riff of both this song and Foo Fighters' "I'll Stick Around" sound VERY similar.

Not at all saying either band copied off the other - just odd is all.

  • Good observation. I love the FF but this song came out before their's ... I'd say there was definitely some 'inspiration' going on.

  • GODDAMN IT! I just got clean and this song makes me want a fat shot.

  • lol

  • Rest in peace Tatiana, this one is for you baby girl.

  • Don't care what anyone says, 90s was the best, period.

  • yup

  • for sure

  • 90s for rock was absolutely amazing, no questions asked.

  • man this is when they rocked and they knew it, he still looks like a junkie here

  • "I heard a policeman say 'Just another overdose'" still stands as one of the most powerful phrases in music... I remember my friends around me trying to keep me conscious one night when I got alcohol poisoning. This song played over and over while I vomited to it... kinda sticks with ya deeply that way ;-)

  • thats the everclear i remember. rockn hard with art craig and greg. i dont like the new music or the new lineup

  • If only more people my age would listen to real music like this.

  • agreed.

  • It's sad how 90% of our generation lets a ''Music" channel controal what they listen to.

  • wickedly fuckin awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • It took me back to when I lived in Pasadena, California.... oh man! those were wonderful times...

  • Wasn't the Everclear DocuCD called "White Trash Hell" like the line in this song?

  • '90s was great, but so was the '60s and '70s.

  • The music of the 90's was the best decade of my life. 60's crap, 70's lame, 80's boring, 90's exciting rock, 2000's ???

  • Are you kidding me? Yeah, the '90s had some great music but the '60s and ESPECIALLY the '70s were incredible!

  • Thats in portland oregon under the burnside bridge. hahaha

  • so 90's

    awesome

  • Oh my gosh i haven't heard this song for so long. definitely the best everclear song of their hits, in my opinion.

  • takes me back to a place i forget alot of the time and it makes me feel good to hear it

  • this is good stuff. takes me back.

  • yeah, there's a bunch of great tunes on Sparkle and Fade. for my money, EVERCLEAR'S best release.

  • go ahead - name me another song that rocks harder than this one! Gotta love Sparkle and Fade...

  • i like strawberry, just as much as this one.

  • LOVE the C/D "Civil Defense" T-shirt, love the song! XD

  • imo one of the best everclear songs ever.
