  • Can you hear the momentary switch when you use it ? I think i can hear something inthe video throughout.... is that the momentary switch?? Does this make the pedal noisy in any way?!

  • @theSeepersaudShow

What you hear is the mechanical click of the switch, not a signal click. Its doesn't add any noise at all, and i've used with everything from clean to high gain stuff

  • can you do this on the CAE wah?

  • @EarlMendoza03

I don't know anything about that wah, how its wired etc. I don't think it's impossible, but the wiring will probably be different because it already includes true bypass. So its up to you to open that wah and check how everything is hooked up.

  • Where did you get the momentary switch? And could you send a picture of exactly what it looks like so I can find one? Thanks man. Awesome mod

  • tune your axe dude

  • Can you do this mod without the led and switch on the side? I basically just want to mod a crybaby classic with the monetary switch.

  • @DjVinceALot: Sure, you do have to mod the schematic a bit of course. You need to connect the green and purple wires of the mode switch's center pins to the right pins. You can also take out the whole stomp switch with all its wires, but keep in mind that the dark green and blue wires still have to connect to the board and pot. You can leave out all the leds and resistors as well, and you don't have to tap power from the board anymore.

  • i made this mod, it does what you said iit would, but i have a little problem, when the effect is ON it does a constant noise, quieter than the sound of the guitar but still noticeable, .. what could it be? .. or is it normal? ... any help is appreciated

  • @VIKINGONEGRO

What kind of noise is it? A hum, or more like a hiss? If its a hum, it probably comes from the adapter if your using one. If thats the case, try putting in a battery and see if that makes any difference..

  • @koenbus

I'll check that out, thanks. Another thing that might give you a little clue is when i press the momentary switch, sometimes a click sounds in the amp.. the first time i press it is always louder... :S .. well.. i'll check if using a battery fixes this stuff.. thanks again

  • How would one just add an indicator led?

  • Yeah I'm definitely going to do this. Awesome mod dude. You should do a video tutorial for the foot-on-pedal switch mod if you haven't already.

  • cool mod but seriously tune the guitar before doing a demo :|

  • ok i make it . everything gone fine but there is an error on your schem , you need to invert purple wire with the blue wire on the momentary switch

  • @TheDigitalSnow

Your momentary switch might be different than mine, the C NO and NC's may be in a different order. I checked my (working) wah, and it matches the schem...

  • That's a great idea. I think I might have put the momentary closer to the heel though. But great idea!

  • hi , if i only want a 3dpd stomp switch with the momentary how i have to connect all? ( i dont need leds)

  • @TheDigitalSnow

You can use a DPDT miniswitch and a DPDT stompswitch then, and you can leave every LED / resistor / LED-involved wire.

  • Could you perform the same 'foot on switch' mod to a Vox wah??

  • Good idea for the "foot on" switch, but I think it may not work properly with shoes that are not flat, or without shoes(when playing at home) :\

  • yea.. i know that it is a wah pedal but what character??

  • what pedal is that? crybaby?

  • wah pedal...

  • can you explain how you put the momentary switch ? how is mecanichal mounted on the pedal? i can't undestand

  • I drilled a hole through the top of the pedal and put the switch through it, and secured it in place with a washer.

  • @koenbus

the whasher is under the black plastic? , can you upload a pic of the back part of the switch

thank you (i need this mod so hard lol )

  • I took a drillbit that was a little bit bigger than the hole (1 or 2 mm bigger) and used it to chip away the rubber around the hole. You can turn it by hand, no need for a machine here. Now you can 'sink' the washer down ;)

and my cam's broken so i can't take any pictures. Did you check out the instructable yet (link in video description)? There are no pictures there but it might point things out more clearly.

  • you should build an "tune your guitar right" mod !

no dude, nice video. great mod youve done there, but tune your strings ;)

  • thats genius

  • I really want this mod, but I'm too thick with electronics...

  • yeah but not only that. wah pedals simply open up the envolpe of your tone and close it. so if its rolled all the way up it gets that bob marley sound. if its all the way back it gets that huge sound. and most wahs dont actually turn off. your tone always has wah on it. its annoying. trust me do this mod. its worth it

  • actually every company should have this true bypass thing as standard but they dont because of economical reasons.

  • economical reasons & the fact that if you only had true bypass pedals in your chain it would introduce tone sucking, especially if you use passive pickups, no buffers / line drivers, & long cables & run 3 or more pedals

  • actually by pass does the exact opposite of that. it helps retain more tone than non by pass

  • Comment removed

  • f you use all true bypass pedals and lots of them you will have signal loss with passive pickups. If you use lots of non true bypass pedals you will have signal loss and a thinner tone with less dynamics even with active pickups. Its best to use mainly true bypass pedals but mix them in with some non true bypass pedals with good buffers to keep the tone alive. Pete Cornish is the worlds expert and he explains why he never uses true bypass.

  • yes it can. but the fact remains that true by pass is much better for your single than non by pass. and im not saying it for the tone reason. im saying do it for the mere fact that you have the ability to turn of wah. but i agree with you. a good buffer is important

  • Exactly, you need some pedals with good buffers if you are using a lot of pedals otherwise the extra lead causes signal loss with lots of pedals, as you said.

  • great idea

  • thats a pretty good idea

  • etnies ftw

  • mine doesnt have a toggle switch

  • where do u get the led lights amd toggle switch

  • best buy or radio shack

  • son take ur shoes of indoors u know better

  • this should be standard for dunlop....very good mod

  • Listen up Dunlop!!!!

  • You should check out the G-Lab True Bypass Wah Pedal..

    Great stuff-and not expensive..

  • very clever indeed, hats off to you :) this should be standard for all wahs IMO

  • This mod is fantastic, best i have seen so far for a wah pedal,i will try it when i get everything needed to do it and thank you koenbus for sharing all the information about this with us.

  • Wah pedals should just be made like that from now on. i never liked the switch under the tredle.

  • modifyed yourself or had keeley do it?

  • This is not a keeley mod. I designed this mod by myself and it works great!

I'll add a link to my Instructable about this mod to the vid description now. You should definately check it out if you want this mod ;)

  • this is so sick

im gonna hafta do this to my wah now

  • Hey man i have been trying to figure a way out to mod my crybaby GCB-95 Wah so it will cut off when i remove my foot without having to floor it and click the switch. Can you possibly send me the info on what you did to mod yours, thats the type of mod i was looking for. Thanks.
