  • trololol aikido sucks *troll face* lol but seriously it really does suck

  • one thing i can say that im right, no one in the history would won a street fight against mike tyson or muhammad ali

  • I don't get it...those guy were just walking up to him. didn't seem like they were trying.

  • Kinda cool he is one of the only actors besides Norris who can fight.

  • @ironmonnkey15 Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van-Damme, Norris, Seagal. Could all Actually fight. If you look into martial art actors you'll find that most of them are legitmate badasses

  • @BlackLabelForLife lol cant believe I forgot Bruce Lee, might be because he is no longer alive. Haven't heard of Jean Claude though.

  • Comment removed

  • @iApna Jean Claude has a pro kickboxing record his wiki page should have it.

  • They recall me a shinigami from Bleach

  • Steven Seagal = Alpha male lool

  • Oh man the fitness center at my college has Aikido classes I'm really tempted to take them now O:

  • @sketchbookMonster in my opinion, unless the sensei at the fitness center is like miyagi, I would sign up at a regular dojo. but aside from that comment, i agree you should defiantly do it because of the other benefits that come from it.

  • 1:53 Casually adjusts hair

  • Most people don't realize that pretty much all modern martial arts were designed with one focus in mind: hurt the other guy before he hurts you. Modern aikedo generally focuses on ending a fight as soon as possible. It's actually one of the LEAST violent martial arts out there. The fact that Segal is a legitimate aikido master doesn't hurt, either. He was seriously tossing those kids around like rag dolls.

  • Miassssssssssss q bosta!

  • Aikido imo is one the most DOMINANT 'beat a drunk' martial arts out there. Lots of times drunks lead with fists or legs and are completely predictable while doing it. With aikido you could toss a drunk around for 20 hours without him doing a darn thing except tiring himself out (nobody would last 20 hours, more like 20 seconds, but just sayin).

That being said, there's a reason aikido isn't used in MMA. Moves that focus on tackling, wresting, and ground throws are going to be superior.

  • even knowing as little as i know, people who say the stuff in this video is "gay" or "fake" are obviously full of themselves. anyone with even a slight knowledge of aikido or similar martial arts know a good wrist lock or throw can make even the toughest guys drop easily.

  • All I heard is ' thump. Thump. Thump.' but then that guys good. My friend's learning it at school but she doesn't like it... Lol...

  • LOL 1:52 he even had time to brush back his hair LOLOLOL

  • faake, learn hapkido. Aikido=pussified version of hapkido

  • varför leker han

  • Any martial art where you can clothesline two people in a row is pretty sick if you ask me.

    Check it out at 1:55

  • @RockyMtnSlayerSXC50 it looks like that; however sir, the technique is actually a variation of iriminage, which steven uses quite often due to the fact it is such a effective technique

  • gay and fake.ufc fighters would knock these fags out

  • I am white belt with gold tip in Aikido

  • @TheTechnoKitteh martial arts are for inflicting damage? You have clearly missed the principal of respectful and peaceful practicing, but you obviously feel great for thinking you could 'kick ass' on the streets (why people see this as a motivation is beyond me). I also wonder how many of the people writing this actually got into a fight

  • hahaha, at 1:53 he's like: whoops, got to fix my hair, need to look slick and stuff

  • what the hell is this ?

he's just shoving them away, any retard can do that.

  • @Sw33tSm0k3 sir you are correct that anyone can push someone away, however bare in mind this is a demonstration, and in reality he is controlling the uke with wrist locks, and using techniques which uses leverage to move the uke where he wants them to fall, such as iriminage.

  • @Sw33tSm0k3 If you look closely, each "shove" is actually some form of wrist, elbow, or shoulder lock

  • CAN YOU GUYS STFU AND GET A FUCKING FORUM FOR THIS MARTIAL ARTS KNOWLEDGE JESUS CHRIST I GET HEADACHES SEEING YOU LOSERS WITH YOUR PARAGRAPHS LIKE SERIOUSLY THIS IS YOUTUBE NOT A FUCKING GAY CHAT BOX. WE COME HERE TO WATCH A VIDEO NOT TRY TO TEACH PEOPLE YOUR FUCKING GAY BULLSHIT I DON'T CARE IF YOU HAVE A BLACK BELT JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @nexplex200 Can you be anymore moronic? Reread your gay comment and think of something meaningful to say. Also, nobody likes people who cuss and swear a lot.

  • @AssMasterify hey tbh I don't curse on a daily basis I did that to get people's attention. And it seems it has worked since you replied right?

  • @AssMasterify and if you call me moronic then uhh look at your youtube account maybe that will put you in your place.

  • @nexplex200 Yo nobody is asking you to read the comments. Just calm down

  • People see martial arts but are blind to see the principles, not all martial arts are about destroying an opponent using only brute force, there are some which are designed for using techniques, leverage, using brains instead of muscle, Aikido is designed to implement situation control, by using locks, pressure points and technique to subdue an attacker, not snap their spine in half. all martial arts are the same, but are only as good as the martial artist, its just people choose differently :)

  • this is like every single steven segal movie

  • Anyone good at any martial arts is not to be taken lightly, no matter how the art looks. Understand that these styles are made for fighting situations. Try a master of Aikido and get embarrassed.

  • funny how people here comment "in an actual fight" like they're awesomesauce, but only took 3 months of boxing class. Believe me, a good aikidoka can throw you on the ground before you realize what happened

  • @joep4life Finally, someone who doesn't automatically jump to conclusions. There really is someone else who isn't a jerk who thinks they know it all. I like the way you think.

  • Funny how many 'martial arts experts' there are on youtube

  • This shit is upsetting how unrealistic this is. See if u can do that petty shit to a thai boxer steven!

  • @OTERO81 i am a person that studies aikido and having it done on me was absolutely real. I don't want to start an argument, but you should at least try it before you make that judgement.

  • Big Steve and the 7 dwarfs... it would look less silly if he picked some partners his size.

  • WTF is this recorded with a tetris ?

  • @cyactildie fail......

  • just cause a person does aikido dont mean there good at it.youve spard against ppl who dont know what there doing.this art was used by samurai in futal japan.go pick a fight with someone who knows it well and your outcome will be very diffrent.there are no supirior arts, only supirior fighters.i man can beat you with one arm if he knows how to use it right so to so a style is bad is stupid.its all about the person using the style.goes to show how much you realy know about martial arts.

  • Purely a demonsrtation art, has ZERO use in the real world. Go ahead, find a fight (mma, street, self-defence) where aikido is utilized, but you will find none. Aikido is useless, I've sparred against them.

  • @dvanwynen Martial Art is also a way of living, and has its own philosophy.

  • This looks soooooo fake.

  • @santran but its very real

  • is that steven siegal ?

  • In my opinion, Akido is one of best martial arts in the world. And its basically respecting your opponent. It's technically a MA that uses counters instead of attacking the opponent. Its really awesome. The only thing is, If the opponent doesnt attack you = you dont attack him/her either. Its kind of a peaceful but deadly MA o_O

  • men dindnt do anything

  • @RedTailedTuna i know it is not.

  • just so you know this is steven seagul

  • Is this dude even trying?.......Legend!

  • "please attack me like this..... NO, YOU ATTACK ME WRONG!!!!"

  • What you have to remember is:The person that is the best at their art will win..there is no better or best art..The important thing is that you have to fit the art to the person...height strength build etc etc..Just an opinion (I have practiced for a while) Aikido is the art ie practice..aikijutsu is the applied techniques..and its not realy defensive because you are using the attack to create the outcome...if the technique is applied "with no mind" ie reactive the outcome can be serious..fatal.

  • @mig0100 ^^^^^^

    he's right you know.

  • Well done! :)

  • MMA is the bastardization of Martial Arts, Nothing but a reason to sell tacky merchandise at high prices, You Will NEVER see Styles Like Aikido in that ring, And thank god you won't.

  • @BajiBunny That's because it would be ineffective in MMA.

  • @ 1:58 :you are done, Segal style

  • man i push my lil brothers like that all the time, i didnt know it was a Martial Art :O

  • MMA sucks

  • @BoarsofWar good to know but this is not MMA

  • their is a reason Law Enforcement officers use these techniques, especially those in correctional facilities, and that is because they work

  • I've never gotten the point of these kinds of choreographed demonstrations, why don't they just do an actual fight?

  • @SuckItLily because the point of aikido is not to fight. refer to MartialArts247's comment to help explain

  • @iamdragonborn So basically it's not a martial art, it's a dance? I thought it was designed to stop fights and for that purpose the best demonstration would be to have an aikido master utilize the techniques he knows to defend himself against noob fighters of different other fighting styles.

  • @SuckItLily no no no. i probably was a little cryptic with that, was I?Aikido is known as a peaceful art, and can be best described as a martial art that teaches primarily self-defense techniques while at the same time aiming to protect the attacker from unnecessary injury. if you are a real martial artist, you never want to start a fight, most the time never want to start a fight at all, but you want to be able to defend yourself as necessary. The techniques of Aikido are

  • @iamdragonborn effective because they use the opponents own momentum against themselves while, with the right training, the defender uses as little energy as possible. Because of this Aikido is an art that can be practiced effectively by anyone, despite their age, height, gender or build.

  • @iamdragonborn it is not just a martial art, but a philosophy. and that is what people in this comment thread are not understanding

  • @iamdragonborn But where can I see it being applied? I like the idea, obviously, but I have seen no example of it working for anyone, I have seen no street fight being brought to a stop with it and I don't see police using it etc. So you must understand that when the only depiction I know of something working is a fat guy named Steven Seagal using it in hollywood movies and staged demonstrations I get suspicious of how practical it would be in a real fight.

  • @SuckItLily if you are really intrested, visit a local dojo and ask the instructor. the way i would view it is "All it takes is a slight modification to classical Aikido techniques to make it more street effective. If you think the armbar is painful, believe me, a fractured wrist or a directed headfirst throw into a wall is not something". notice all the throws that happen in this demonstration? hitting someone with a fist, or a kick is nothing compared to hitting someone with EARTH

  • @iamdragonborn just because you don't see it often does not mean it is ineffective. you don't see KRAV MAGA much, but the israeli commandos

use it. Btw, STEVEN SEEGAL got Famous because of Aikido, such as CHUCK NORRIS and the "International Karate Championships". It is PRACTICAL it real situations Because LAW ENFORCEMENT, especially CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS, have to be taught AIKIDO along with DEFENSIVE TACTICS to defend themselves against Convicts,Felons, and Suspects.

  • @iamdragonborn That's an awesome metaphor, is it yours?

  • @SuckItLily no. it is my father's. he use to be a correctional officer and they were required to learn certain aikido techniques. correctional officers have lives, a family, and a job, which means lots to focus on. inmates have all day too eat, sleep, build up their muscles, and think of a way to shank someone they hate( this includes officers). they have to learn the techniques to defend themselves against the Agressive, often Bigger inmates or use pins and holds to escort the non-

  • @iamdragonborn -complient ones

  • WOW...THIS...IS...FKN...STUPID

  • Ridiculous!!

  • I'm sorry...I'm sure Aikido is a wonderful art to study..but you CANT think that this works in a street fight. I can name 5 women who have taken Krav Maga for 6 months that I would take in a fight over any black belt Aikido practitioner. This works in a dojo setting clearly...but I firmly believe you have to have willing participants to make it look like this. Sorry Aikido guys

  • To all of you who think your self fit to make fun of Aikido, I've studied more martial arts styles than most of you could name and Aikido isn't a joke. All martial arts styles have a set of underlying set of principals, in Aikido the main one is that you don't need to hit your opponent in order to win. Besides its not a real fight, only in america with such a thing as MMA will you see people actually breaking the other persons arm, in most other martial arts your also taught to respect eachother

  • @MartialArts247 Well said.

  • @MartialArts247 To truly understand marshal arts you have to practice it. Not study it.

  • @MartialArts247 Ever heard of Unit 731? Lots of respect there amirite?

  • Comment removed

  • @TrueYears yes i have studied unit 731, and no there was nothing humane about the things that went on there, but i'm not generalizing all of Japan as a martial art when i say "in most other martial arts your also taught to respect each other".

  • @MartialArts247 MMA isnt american its world wide lol.

  • @MartialArts247 I'm actually in tears and ashamed of myself because I expected some good ol' limb breaking action from Seagal

  • @MartialArts247 That "america sux they dun respect eachuther lol" is completly wrong. If you have ever been to Thailand and watched a Muay Thai fight you will know why. There are practically fucking death matches over in Brazil. The MMA is also big in Japan and Russia. There are brutal martial arts everywhere, don't just hate on America.

  • @MartialArts247 are you serious what is a martial art supposed to be? its supposed to inflict damage if I am wrong I dont get how breaking a person's arm is disrespectful. Their loss they could have tapped lol. I do muay thai personally I think aikido is a art to help throw around the unexperienced. Seagal never fights somebody as skilled as him or as big. I mean some of aikido is obviously real and everything, but this would just get your ass whooped on the street... I mean wouldn't it?

  • @TheTechnoKitteh I don't think they stand a chance against us Muay Thai practitioners ;)

  • I like how he takes on all four at once!

  • Aikido or Aikijujutsu as it is otherwise known, is probably the only martial art which teaches you not to fight! It teaches you not too because there is no need. As soon as you even set foot on the same mat as the Aikidoka you might as well give up because you have already lost. IE we have already won!

  • Aikido = For idiots who think they can do this in a real fight.

  • ummm... ok this is retarded.

  • aikido is one of the most ineffective martial arts ever. in a real fight no one is going to just run at you with their arms forward waiting for you to grab their wrists. when someone is punching you you're not going to be able to grab their wrist. and if by some miracle you do grab their wrist they are going to pull and twist it out of your grasp before you can do anything with it. educate yourselves.

  • @mmaandrew13 Ive been in street fights and Aikido has worked well.

  • @kameo747 merry christmas

  • @iamdragonborn credit to 78hooman

  • no your forced to throw yourself or else your going to get a broken arm etc

  • @eksteelman thats what they tell you. truth is in real confrontation, no one gives you their balance and blends with you, its unnatural. its natural to tense up and resist in conflict, not relax, blend and give up your balance. and you cant catch wrists moving at punch speeds, it doesnt happen, way too fast. you dont see any aikido in MMA competition because of these reasons. I did aikido for 6 years. Dont blindly believe the myths and fables of old masters past, test yourself

  • Aikido is the only martial art that seems to give you mental power over your opponents to make them throw themselves.............hmmm

  • Aikido is known as a peaceful art,and can be best described as a martial art that teaches primarily self-defense techniques while at the same time aiming to protect the attacker from unnecessary injury. The techniques of Aikido are effective because they use the opponents own momentum against them while, with the right training, the defender uses as little energy as needed.Because of this Aikido is an art that can be practiced effectively by anyone, despite their age, height, gender or build.

  • Did you hear a victim of chuck norris in background?

  • @Itheswick Exactly!

  • This is basicly the bitch slap of japan....

  • @TheMunch97 do you realise that steven seagal was the world fighting champion for 8 years running the only reason he isn't anymore is because he retired from fighting

  • @somaddpg01 I wasent dissing it, i was saying how it just ownes anyone who fights them

  • great master, Seagal is very good

  • aikido is a really dirty form of martialarts.. or so i heard

  • i would love to spar with him

  • ma per favore...

  • Steven Seagal's movies are terrible, but he will kick your ass.

  • LOL you people who don't know anything about aikido are idiots aikido works on principals of physics anybody can throw a punch/kick but it takes a skilled master like steven seagal to make aikido look effertless i'm so sick of hearing ppl say it or kungfu or karate does'nt work in the real world, what do you think there were using back in the day when they were at war constantly?????

  • @jason3000ize No, it takes someone running around falling to the ground or flipping every time they get touched.

  • se cae solo el 1° cabro chico! XD

  • @christoiwas that was a good defense for aikido wasnt it. And I have actually tried a few aikido classes. Its not practical at all in real life situations. Steven seagal would get his ass kicked by most mma fighters.

  • @Highflytuber that's debatable. you obviously havent learned its lessons if you thing that. no martial art is ineffective, only the person. so its not aikido that is not practical, maybe its you.

  • @iamdragonborn Bullshit. Aikido would not even come close to working in an actual fight. There's a reason it doesn't get used in MMA.

  • @TheRealMrPapaya MMA and aikido are 2 different things. though is not normally used in MMA, it is used by law enforcement all over the world.

2.Steven Seagal taught anderson silva (middle weight ufc champion of the world) the face height front kick he used to knock out victor belfort in ufc 126, so i know the stuff is applicable.

    your argument is now invalidated.

  • @iamdragonborn Steven Seagel may have helped Anderson Silva refine his technique a little, but Anderson Silva is a black belt in tae-kwon-do, there is absolutely zero chance that he didn't know that kick already. I knew how to do that kick after minimal time in tae-kwon-do as well, it really is very basic stuff. Seagel is such a tool however he doesn't correct the error Anderson's translater made, he would love for people to go right on believing it. Seagel=tool

  • @NateO123 true, seagal is arrogant and is a tool, but he is good at what he does. aikido is not, what some might say, fake too. what people don't seem to take in is that every martial art is viable in self defense. the factors that decide whether it works or not if how good your teacher is and what lessons you take in. that is what makes martial artists like Anderson Silva and Chuck Norris great.

  • @TheRealMrPapaya you are a really good troll

  • only works if there is a no punching rule in a fight

  • @shummyshum there are techniques for punches too. they just hurt like hell when preformed.

  • Kumai matoi ;)

  • now you know how he stays so cool in the most intense situations

  • it just looks to easy :(

  • @112dutchboy

Haha... yeah you'r right. IT LOOK easy :p.

  • Comment removed

  • The reactions of the first guy looked fake, but all in all its very impressive.

  • The problem with western society in martial arts is that we seek to blame and so take things literally so that things aren't our fault i.e. do a literal martial art so if it fails its the art's fault not mine. The way Asians practise arts with forms and demonstrations, is like how we do push-ups to strengthen punches. You aren't going to use a push-up against someone in a fight nor will Asians use forms and demos for a fight. But you still do them to improve your skills :)

  • Kudillo think about doing Brazilian jiu jitsu. I'm pretty sure unlike jujutsu or aikido, youre not trying to hurt your opponent

  • kkkk que mentira os caras se jogando

  • get a gun

  • i was able to pin down a challenger who was 60 kilograms heavier than me to a table using an aikido technique.

  • Im seriously thinking of starting aikido and i have a question i would appreciate anyone could answer : Aren´t those throws i see in a lot of aikido videos really dangerous ( considering the attacker may not know how to fall properly )? Im really into de whole " redirecting harmlessly an attack " concept and i just dont understand how those throws can be theorically harmless.

Also, does anybody recommend another compatible martial art to learn parallel to aikido ? thanks

  • @kudillo What most of the idiots on the board don't understand is the roll of the Uke in training. The Uke is the receiver of the movement. The Uke is an Aikido student. The reason they "flop around" is because it prevents them from getting injured. The roll of the Uke is extremely important, every student plays the roll. It helps you learn Aikido. The only way the Uke get's hurt is if the Nage over estimates their ability to receive the throw. Flopping is the word used by an uninformed idiot.

  • @dkspartan1 Thanks. Correct me if im wrong but you are making it sound as if aikido is only intended to be performed over other aikido practicioners.

  • What a waste of time. who comes running at you like that ready to do flips like that? steven seagal would get his ass kicked by anyone half decent at mma. All you have to do is look at him to realise he isnt a fighter.

  • @Highflytuber Your an idiot, go back to watching your MMA and stop wasting our time... I challenge you to attend an Aikido class and see what its actually about.

  • ???????

  • talk about croud control

  • I'm considering taking Aikido for self-defense. A lot of people say it's useless in a fist fight, but I'm a woman.. I'm not planning on getting into fist fights. I wanna know how to defend myself if someone, for example, tries to abduct me (there have been a lot of incidents at my campus lately -_-). Would Aikido help me out in that sense?

  • @beaaa0125: I think that if you want to learn how to defend yourself, Krav Maga is the way to go. Krav is not pretty to watch, but is practical and easy to learn. Being a women, I would think that you need to defend yourself against both men and women, Krav teaches how to get out of chokes, bear hugs and ground attacks and how to strike back. Aikido is beatiful to watch and perform, I am not an Aikido (or Seagal) hater. Best of luck to you!

  • I am going to start taking aikido next week and i was wondering what i could expect for my first couple lessons

  • @SkPiano For your first couple of lessons in AIKIDO , EXPECT to be painful , because you will sit for the first time on your knees "SEIZA" ,you will will learn hot fall on the ground FORWARD and BACKWARD , you will walk on you knees CHICCO , and for sure your sensei will teach you how to strike a SHOMENUCHI and a YOKOMENUCHI etc.. and you will learn your aikido posture . Do not expect in your first lessons to be fun , it's gonna be PAIN and WORK , if you are tough enough you will stay .

  • My aikido instructor once told me to push against him. my instructor was old so i did not push as hard at first, but then he stopped me and told me to actually go at it.i used to be a center in high school football so i took up my old football stance and pushed, amazingly he was pushing me back and he was just moving with his center.

i was fumbling and falling, but he was just walking into my direction. aikido works, and i have the good fortune of having an amazing sensei. thanks sensei feegul

  • All martial arts are practical in someway and Aikido can be useful in certain situations.

What gets me is the people that say, "it's the gentleman's art because you don't hurt your enemy."

but then reply to haters, "they roll like that because if you don't you're arm will break."

..so basically, in a real situation you will break the enemy's arm.. real gentle.

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis Yeah, they do well in fast paced sports and marathon style events. Some of the European and Viking descendants are usually coded to be big and bulky like that.

  • muai thai FTW!!!!!

  • Wow. He makes it seem so easy... it just looks like he's knocking them over! I mean, I know there's more to it than what mets the eye, but that's pretty cool!

  • it is a real shame to see so many, who has actually trained in aikido and other martial art disciplins, and yet lack the mental ability to see what aikido has offered the world, let alone the aikido society, O sensei left a legacy for the world to heal and unite,to harmonise with one another and the universe,if you are aikidoka, then it is time to respect and carry on the legacy of O' Sensei, aikido is not only about felling ones apponent, but rather rectifying ourselves

  • I have trained in Aikido for many years, and I constantly see slander on this art and many others only due to the fact that western society was raised to see fighting as force vs force rather than technique against force, aikido is not about destroying but controlling, the chosen pain is up to the attacker if he resists, using the art of simple physics of leverage and technique can help someone survive.
