  • LOVE this fuckin song!!!!

  • John drew Roger with elevator shoes. lol

  • Great song--Pete had a way with music and words unique in rock--The band we're perfect on songs like this.

  • songwriting of the highest, highest caliber

  • Pete was and always will be cool.Listen to his stuff,Timeless.

  • I haven't words for express how I feel listening this song

  • @MrFansyPants You don't know nothing

  • @MrFansyPants Don't make your trolling so obvious if you want a response.

  • @MrFansyPants I understand that your brain is in the fridge, but you can stop throwing shit about Pete Townshend? He is Awesome!!!

  • Pete is ONE of the best song writers ever.

  • [Pete: "It just might be a key to the way that rock could grow old. It's about that feeling of being...not a failure, but over the hill. It's about that pathetic, pointless, tragic situation that a man gets into where -- well, I've never been a great puller of birds, so it's not autobiographical --

    (continued below)

  • but for example where he can't pull without a big scene, and he's not really all that mad or drinking anymore, and to tell the truth he really does quite like watching television. It's a bit of an effort to get out on the pitch and play football on Saturdays and, to be perfectly honest, he does quite like sex on a regular basis so he can build himself up to it and not let the old lady down.

  • It's that type of thing, and it's about how incredible all that is. And I realized after I'd written it what an amazingly perceptive piece of writing it was, and that either I was getting like that or somebody that I knew intimately was getting that way. Then of course I realized the song was about me. And if The Who end up recording this song, then it will definitely be a landmark in our career because it's got the kind of honesty there is in a song like 'Substitute.'"

  • It's got the sort of vibe that Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds also has, except...I like Imagine A Man better :)

  • I absolutely love the who but not this stupid song. Seriously this sucks.

  • @MrFansyPants fuck you

  • @TheTCM11 I'm sure you would like to but I am in a monogamous relationship. But thanks for the offer. As for this album, there is only 3 half way decent songs on it.

  • @MrFansyPants you absolutely love the who eh? Or do you just like 'baba o'riley', 'who are you', and 'won't get fooled again'? I think Who by Numbers is actually a very good album, and one of the most underated of all time. In my opinion.

  • My favorite album from The Who !

  • words to live by

  • I don't know what more to add to the comments. Pete, and The Who as a whole, are beyond great. Amazing how they kept evolving. Nothing against "Face Dances" and It's Hard" but somehow I think if Keith would have lived they would've been able to produce one or two more truly great albums.

  • When I listen to this, I'm filled with regret.

  • This was just one of many songs that got me through the dark times. Now that they're over, I think back to when they started so that I can learn how to avoid those thoughts and feelings in the future. I can't. "So long looking backward, you can't see where it really began." Then you realize that you don't need to because you've been tempered into a new strength through those things no matter where they came from. Thus, a pheonix is born.

  • OMG how I miss this album! Awesome!

  • Classic!

  • the most incredible music of this album

  • Nick Hopkins has to be the best session pianist of the 70s.

  • @veplaini Amen to that...I saw him in Hawaii when he was playing with Quicksilver...they used to live on the North Shore while recording an album (Fresh Air on that album, can't recall the name). Nicky was awesome and underappreciated overall, in the music business.

  • One of the best Who song. Awesome. There is no similar sound like Roger's.

  • Time to bring out the old Who albums...

  • One of their best ! Wow!

  • Great album and so terribly underrated !

  • @buubacous

You are so right..... couldn't understant it all these years.

  • @yrmplg Been finding myself listening to it more now than ever ! I find my life relating to the essence of the album more now also ! This album is a timeless masterpiece.

  • @MusicianMeTube Seriously whoever gave me a thumbs down, do your research. Pete Townsend even says this was one of his favorite albums.

  • @MusicianMeTube Seriously whoever gave me a thumbs down, go do your research. The Beach Boys late psychdelic stuff had a major influence on Townsend. He even says so himself.

  • My name is Andy but this isn't my channel, and I absolutely, positively love this song. Every single time I listen to it it just makes me want to sob my little eyes out.. I think it's beautiful, and it touches me within the very deepest passions of my heart. Oh. My. God. I just love this song. They are such a great band. Just innnnnnncredible.

  • I cant believe how amazing this song is. How can a person channel their feelings like this? Incredible...

  • Well fucked sailor, liar, great artist. PS: Those were his words from this great album.

  • I got to see The Who roughly 3 years back at harewood house ....i even made eye contact with Roger Daltry....THEY ROCKED...

  • sad song

  • I agree. I think it's a good theme, much like Behind Blue Eyes - of a genius trapped in unhappiness. Asperger syndrome comes to mind.

  • I love this song, a song for anyone who's on a journey through life... You will see the end, Oh Yeah!

  • beefjerkoff sounds to me like you have some homosexual issues. Go stroke it in the mirror, and enjoy faggot. (laughing Cujo)

  • Hey, dstain, Are you related to the two colon lumps I disposed of an hour ago. I must apologise to "idon, tknowmyself" I don,t want to pass insults on to arse wipes on your video.

  • How does someone give permission to someone else to sing their most personal feelings. I can,t remember which other member of The Who said it, but they started crying when they,d read the lyrics even before the recording.

  • Quit acting gay beefjerky, if that is your real name.

  • @beefjerky3 kieth, believe it or not
