  • Deranged retains the grisly exploits of the infamous Wisconsin grave-robber/ cannibal transvestite Ed Gein fairly closely, only changing the characters name for the film adaption. I wasn't aware that MGM excised gore that was considered too graphic too include though, hopefully in a future re-release they can. Alan Ormsby, the writer and co-director, also penned the erotic 80's retelling of cat people by Paul Schrader.

  • this came from ed gein they turn the whole film to be based on ed gein

  • What's the film called again? Unfortunate that he looks like Wilfred Bramble

  • R.I.P

  • soo.. he was DERANGED?

  • I have the Midnight Movie disc with Motel Hell. Went to Germany years ago and they had a special uncut edition, but unfortunately will not play in Region 1. Does anyone know how to find an uncut version of this that will play on USA dvds?

  • The UK VHS releas of the late 90's (Exploited Films) contained the restored head sequence in which Ezra Cobb removes eyeballs, brains and the face from a decapitated head. Unfortunately, the British Censor cut 18 seconds from the scene in which he eviscerates the naked girls body in the barn...

  • deranged, creepy horror movie of the early 70'S, a movie based on ed geins life.,roberts blossom,a great actor.,also tom savini, make-up effects horror/gore master's earlier work.

  • I got the 2-sided DVD of Deranged and Motel Hell recently, I think the eyeball removal seen on this trailer is missing from MGM's print.

  • @richwicz Yes, the MGM double feature disc has the cut, theatrical version of DERANGED on it, sadly. The disc is worth picking up for the gorgeous print of MOTEL HELL though.

  • @brujaria I've ordered the Deathdream DVD from Blue Underground which has the cut gore footage missing from Deranged in the special features.Deathdream is supposed to be a good little horror flick too.

  • Old Man Marley is at it again!

  • @Morgethein Yes my hubby & I (boyfriend at the time) did see alot of horror films in the 70s. But we turned out normal...can't stand them today! :)

  • Saw this at the drive in with my hubby (then boyfriend)! Loved creepy movies back then, to this day, no way! LOL

  • Exploitation Cinema, i miis it.

  • his mother was the reason he did all that

  • A truly not to be missed classic horror masterpiece. Roberts Blossom is brilliant and truly terrifying in this amazing film!

  • On of the best 70s horror films so affective creepy you wont have seen anything like this its just as good as tcm totality unique totality scary but not so well known its rare to find on video and hard as well to get on dvd but if you can its a horror must :)

  • This IS a great film. For years--until the "Ed Gein" film w/Steve Railsback came out, this was it as far as a halfway authentic bio--much closer to the true events than either Psycho or TCM. Look for the excellent documentary "American Maniac" at the end of the tape(don't know if its on the DVD). Also has a lot of subtle humor--needed to relieve the grim subject matter.

Best comic moment: Ezra is consulting with a psychic who mentions carnal relations, and Ezra replies "carnival?"

  • It really is. It's also VERY underrated. I always thought the use of music was really clever in this film. The use of "old Rugged Cross" evokes sympathy for Mr. Cobb and serves as a reminder that he wouldnt be the way he is if it werent for his woman-hating religious maniac of a mother(ok so we're talking about the real Gein here, but still)

its underrated. everone knows about Psycho and TCM but who ever heard of Deranged? not many, thats who.

  • If you wanna see the whole movie, I posted it on my channel!

  • The Uncut Uncensored Version...

  • hey can you please upload this movie? i would really like to see it since i know alot about Ed Gein. plus it looks like a good movie!

  • 0:29, Dr. Phil? lol

  • lol i MAY very well be Dr.Phil we may never know........

  • hahahahahahaha xD

  • just saw this like a few hours ago... I SO KNEW he looked sooo familiar... lol old dude from Home Alone

  • Just watched this movie, its awesome and creepy! Has a very texas chainsaw massacre feel to it!

  • agreewithskunk.this film is a must-see for its cinematographic qualities. the director excels at building -up a truly macabre atmosphere by avoiding flashy effects. it's not devoid of dark humour but is remains deeply disturbing cos so true to life. main actor's impressive. like TCM it sometimes look like a documentary. not just a great horror movie but a great film.

  • its based on the serial killer ed gein

  • Great little B-movie that leaves you with a chilly feeling.

  • The main character was performed by the same actor who play the old sinister neighbor in HOME ALOE. You know, the guy who supposedly killed and incinerated his family members.... LOL nice reference.

  • hey yo does anyone know where i can watch the whole movie

  • It's paired with another gem called "Motel Hell" and part of the Midnite Movie series.

  • Comment removed

  • this movie is good because it has alot of depth to it, and symbolism, not like these new gay "Horror" movies like Saw and Hostel and the loads of remakes that a bunch of mindless teenagers go to see, there's no intellect to them, theyre just mindless scenes of people being torture, at the beginning of Deranged, the narrator says nothing has been left to the imagination, well i don't know abou that but for me these movies are about more than just gore

  • Amen my brother. You said it all. Atleast I know one other person has great taste in horror.

  • i love this movie because it has good moral and metaphor when you watch it, that no matter how nice of a person you could be, people won't accept you if you're the least bit different or eccentric you see Ezra in the movie calling his friend "sir" and he couldn't be any more polite but no one can appreciate how good at heart he was to begin with i actually learned to play the soundtrack on my guitar

  • i have seen this movie in 2000 and it was on vhs and it was a twisted classic,i like the part when he says " momma im comin home momma "

  • why didnt they just call this Ed Gein'd

  • This reminds me of these Fake Trailers from "Grindhouse"

  • definetly a screwzation documentary

  • reminds me of PSYCHO

  • Same source material.

  • it reminds you of Psycho because its based on the same guy as the movie psycho was

  • @derfeuerbach Psycho Silence of the Lambs and Texas Chainsaw Massacre were all slightly based of off Ed Gein.

  • @teta410 yep, Ed Gein. -:o)

  • is that ed gein

  • no but it's based on him

  • I have to see it...

  • yea

  • LOL and O.O at the same time. the eyeball scene reminds me of this old, old horror film i saw once about a mad scientist (big surprise) who popped out the eyeball of a cat and ate it cuz it had a "gleam". lol

  • That would be Dwain Esper's "Maniac" from the 1930s.
