  • Does training at a higher cadence improve speed? I can maintain a low cadence in a high gear for quite a while and I find standing up to power up a hill or accelerate kind of satisfying. But I'm not very fast. I know that the fact I'm a novice and I'm using a heavy mountain bike with knobbly tyres contributes to this but is my low cadence a factor as well? Been trying to pedal faster the last couple of days and it just wipes me out so wondering if it's worth the hassle.

  • I seem to get my peak 20 minute power of 300 watts at 90 rpm. At 95 rpm it seems to drop by 15 watts and the gym bike sways slightly. I haven't tested lower as I need the bike's highest level to do 300 watts at 90 rpm! Also the gym bike saddle is crap. It's a big fat wide one and I have to raise it and sit on the tip until my crotch is sore..

  • Awesome shit, nobody in the whole internet could explain it better. thank you

  • At last! A video which says straight out "This is what 90RPM looks like". I don't know how many cadence clips I've looked at, all of which talk about the importance of high-RPMs, but none of which actually show it in practice!

  • @hamarmbonanza I think Start Without You by Alexandra Burke is exactly 92bpm if that helps

  • Goo vid agree with comment below

  • Excellent presentation. Clear, concise and informative. I've seen many youtube presentations that waffle on for over 9 minutes that include less information. Other contributors please note.

  • Excellent instruction and cool video.
