C&O had ~16 shays on the roster, all retired by ca. 1923. They were used to drag coal over the mountain at Cabin Creek, WV, primarily. (This is a few miles from where I grew up.)
Do the geared locomotives have both operating couplers or just the rear one?

this engine has the best whistle. how come mth give the best whistle to the most expessive ones and not the railking ones

Nice model! Most of the sounds are verry good however the whistle could use some inprovement.

This was one of MTH's first shay's. They redid them later on in 2005-06 to make them more accuret to the prototypes.
