It's interesting to hear also the pirates from Holland... here in southern Italy I haven't unfortunately never received them, instead there are a lot of Greek pirates (it's also logical for a geographic fact...) Have a pleasant day and best wishes for a merry Christmas !!!!!
Anyone can broadcast am station out of their house using the Procaster transmitter LEGALLY.Check out chezradiodotcom. You're lucky to get a 3 mile radius but then in the middle of a city thats good!! They're not really "PIRATE" though.
What station was it? Are you sure it was a pirate? A lot of licensed stations broadcast from 1610-1700 now. It sounded like it was coming it well, so you might try running line audio from the receiver--despite the good signal, it's much more difficult to follow the mic audio.
The 1620 is a well-used frequency by Dutch mediumwave pirates. As a Dutch radio-dx'er I can tell you, this definitely was a pirate (because of the frequency, and the kind of (German) music played).
1620KHz is normal... is in AM band, so I recept too... :p

I've heard that station too in Finland many times. It's easy to identify this station, because it plays German music.
