Anyway not a single jew with a Swiss nationality was given to the Nazis during this period even it was surrouded by fashism,who did better? What would anyone have made in the same situation? Attacking Germany with the small Swiss army?!?? In Switzerland , people speaking German, French and Italian live in peace since a long time,and I feel proud to live in this civilised attitude, especially when I look to the history of Europe...and to my Native-American ancestors tragedy and slavery .

As a matter of fact Switzerland was prepared for a Guerilla war against Germany and every family had guns available at home. In my opinion everything considered Switzerland did a pretty good job coping with World War II.

I am Swiss too and my family acted against Nazis during this war, my grand mother brought jewish people from Paris on when she was member of the salvation army and a grandfather disturbed with other guys the german railway traffic in Basel by changing the destination panels, the effect of this action was that the wehrmacht didn't recieve the right material to the north african and russian front during the winter 41 42...who knows about it?only a few people, why?...

I agree with Zuepfe. The story of Michael Moore is just entertaining and not informating. The roll of some swiss banks during the WWII is truely not acceptable. But the biggest part of the swiss was strictly against the nazi regime and would defend the country against those fascists. Also to mention is that a lot of swiss citizen gave shelter to jews,which crossed the border to switzerland.

What they cannot provide is a death certificate for the original owners - something that the Swiss banks demand, knowing it cannot be provided since they Nazies and their allies didnt issue them.
In short, the Nazies and their allies stole the property, but it's the Swiss banks who refuse to give it back to it's rightful owners.
As for your comment about the US - In WW2 they didnt sell anything to the Axis.

I'm not sure that this was switzerland's crime as a country and as you said it is not as terrible as other crimes that were commited in the war.
One small difference is that in the case, property was stolen and it's not too late to give it back to it's rightful owners.

As far as I know, not all of the rightful successors have received what they deserve, or this whole story whould have been cleared.
I agree with you other countries would have given nothing even though they took much more stolen property than the swiss banks did - but that doesnt mean that other countries should be praised just because they took less.
There were very little saints at those days, and the banks who took Hitler's stolen gold and money were not one of them.
