As for the people in Southeast Asia, it got rid of the white domination and all countries won independence after the war by that token. All colonies were lost though Britain, France, the Netherlands, and the United States, etc. were ruling Asia.

But Japan motives were not benevolent, they purged and raped and tortured, their brutality was well-documented.... If given a choice, most asians would choose to live under colonial rule than to be ruled by an antagonistc Jap military.

The only people the Japanese helped was themselves. The whole "Asia for Asians" was propaganda for Japan's true agenda. Which was "Asia for Japan". I am Japanese and I was surprised that there are a lot of comments that praise Kamikaze because in Japan, we have been learnt Japanese soldier was evil and Japan was bad nation. My grandmother's brother was a kamikaze soldier killed in the sky above Kyushu island in Japan though she didn't want to tell me the thing a lot. I proud of him, but all I want to say is not fighting is the best. Sorry my bad English^^

@hyugadani31511 Japan, much like Germany, used aggression to get what it wanted. It did so with China and then the US. In many ways, Japan was a "bad" nation. Kamikaze troops were pretty much regular men that believed in sacrificing their lives for their nation. In the end, world war 2 was full of people like that on both sides. Everyone should be proud of people who fought in those dark times.

You don't know what its like to sit in a plane and fly through that shit into a ship. knowing you'll never land again so why argue? how can you do that? call them weak or terrorists. When you see these planes there are real people flying those, they had lives, stories to tell, feelings etc but all you care about is the meaning right? honour the man and the memory not the act.

At that time most of the Asia were colonized by western nations. Japan feared that they might colonize Japan as well. I would have feared that too if I were living that time. If the Allied D-Day invasion into France had been repulsed & defeated by the Germans on the beaches of Normandy or if the Soviet Russians had been stopped or slowed by the German Generals bleeding the Russian Army to death, then the war in Europe would last until August of 1945 when Atomic Bombs would be dropped on Germany first before being dropped on Japan.
