And i think, that there are many ways/tactics one can play in tennis, so what's the point on criticizing Nadal's game when Federer has like 9 reasons (at least) more to be criticized.

As great as Djokovic is playing, and as great as his last two matches were against Nadal, no match has more amazing shot-making then when Federer meets Nadal. When on clay, it's all Nadal. On fast courts (especially indoor), all Federer. When they meet on a more neutral surface, like this... great stuff.

The modern game is favoring physical players like Djok, nadal, and murray..etc. But one thing is true: Federer can play well either in modern or classical tennis. Assuming all players at their best, Fed has 60% chance against Agassi, he may lose to sampras on grass but can beat him in all other surfaces. As said, Fed wouldn't lose to Djokovic. Fed can easily beat nadal in all surfaces except clay. Though I love nadal, I admit Fed's the best. Even Nadal himself admits this fact! let's admit it!

@joseph0086 Rafa is always modest and generous with his comments when it comes to Roger, so take that comment with a grain of salt. Roger is the best candidate for #1 indoor hard court player of all time, followed closely by JMac and Lendl. Pete all day on fast grass, as Rafa or Bjorn on slow clay. Outdoor hard is a bit of a toss-up, and still yet to be determined...

One commentor here told the truth. The modern game has changed a lot. This Djokovic couldn't beat Federer, Agassi, Safin at their best. Those who said Fed is worse than Nadal doesn't make sense to me (i am a fan of nadal). Nadal could never win 16 slams and he won't play at the same level as what the 30-year-old Federer is doing. The same can be said for Djokovic. Those who said Djok is better than Fed is a joke. Djo is better than Fed right now. But not better than Fed at his peak.

@joseph0086 Tennis today favors the well-condition athlete, regardless of shot-making ability and talent. Borg was one of the best to exploit this, Lendl took it to another level, and now the top 4 is showing the world how its done. Safin, at his prime, and fully focused could probably beat them all, but that is pure speculation. The statement

@sarasmilepiano : 1. Rafa was on his way to 16 until Novak raised his game 2. I agree with the second part because Roger has managed his body (his is less prone to injury) well. That being said, I don't think having the most GS is the sole determinant for "best-ever" or "GOAT"- in fact, there is no such thing. Tennis is one-on-one combat, so the head-to-head record is very relevant when comparing players. Since it is impossible to directly judge players of different eras

@sarasmilepiano ...since they never played each other (ie- Laver vs Sampras), saying who would come out on top is just an educated guess. In this case, we have Rafa, Roger, and we have to throw in Novak in the discussion here playing at the same time, in the same era! Not taking anything away from Roger- he's doing incredible things, but who's to say that if he played in Pete and Andre's prime, he would have won Wimbledon and the US Open that many times?

Although as big a Nadal fan I am, I personally feel he has passed his peak since last year. My guess is that he will slowly fade away in the near future. He will turn 26 this year. I just hope he will keep his french open this year and probably next year, also probably one more wimbledon this year or next. Though he could not beat Djok this time, it was close and it seemed to me that his head is now clear against him. On clay, probably he will beat Djok by playing a 7-hour match.

@joseph0086 Rafa's Achilles Heel are his knees. This part of the human body is not to meant to take that kind of punishment day-in and day-out. And after that brutal match vs Novak, Rafa is quite right to take a month off- his body needs it and a wise move if he is looking to extend his career and play relatively injury-free. As to passing his prime, he is still in it, I believe, although this may be his last year.

I actually think that nadal's forehand got weaker since last year, it partly explained how he got himself into trouble on the way to win his frrench open. And the extra efforts required for the french open made him pay for the Wimbledon. At Wimbledon,I felt he was certainly not at his best (and also mentally he was beaten by Djok). In this AUS 2012, I felt he played a bit better than US 2011. But I don't think he will get back to his best forehand (at 2007-2008).

@joseph0086 Really? In my mind, Rafa's forehand has always been solid. It's his backhand and serve that has shown some hesitancy in the tight moments- although both was pretty reliable in Australia.
