Er ist ein großer Künstler, Multitalent, den ich schon als Kind und Jugentlicher sehr verehrte.

Die Kurzwelle im 49m-Band war die einzige Möglichkeit auch im Osten Freddy´s Lieder hören zu können....

Ein Traum wurde wahr, als ich ihn dann nach einem Konzert persönlich kennenlernen durfte.

Zum 80. Geburtstag wünsche ich Freddy viel Gesundheit, Lebensfreude, und Gottes Segen.

Witzige Stelle: bei 1:14 macht Freddy einen Fehler und ist einen Takt zu früh. Bert Kaempfert merkt es und dreht sich zum Orchester, das sich aber zum Glück nicht irritieren läßt. In der zweiten Strophe bei 2:35 macht er den Fehler nicht mehr und man sieht das erleichterte Gesicht Bert Kaempferts.

Not very modern the place nor Freddy´s dress. Nevertheless, Bert Kaempfert orchestra and musical theme are outstanding...... I admire Freddy Quinn´s voice. To my opinion, if he had been an opera singer, he would has been an excelent german "basso cantante".

Judging by Kaempfert's smiles, I think he was delighted at the audience's reactions. Remember, this part of the broadcast took place after his medley and he had a great vocalist to showcase his music - a beautiful partnership!

At about 2:15, look at the woman in the audience (in white) poking her husband because she can see herself on the large television monitor. Freddy Quinn has a wonderful, haunting voice and perfectly complemented Kaempfert's composition. Where do we see that in today's music? I wish we could have seen more of the orchestra.

More clips from this show are surfacing on YouTube. Besides this one and the medley of Kaempfert hits, there are also clips of Wencke Myhre singing "komm allein" and Vicky Leandros performing "Grünes Licht". Hopefully, one day this whole show will come out on DVD.

Can't remember the exact circumstances of recording this off the ARD+ sat feed in '93, but assuming the transmission was of the complete programme - for some inexplicable reason I decided to only record parts - must have been short of tape. The other clips on YouTube indicate that N3 has either broadcast the whole program or clips - notably the N3 sourced Ofarims clip shows no video breakup that's evident on my ARD+ sourced clip.
