  • maybe Matthew was to young for the role, but I have to say he's hot in this movie

  • god damn it this is the worst quality i've ever seen a video have.

  • Does part 2 means that there or only two pixels in the whole video.

  • i love the quality in this next part

  • this is really good quality

  • Yawn! Broderick doesn't put any effort into his performance. It would seem the only 'trouble' in River City is Matthew Broderick's acting.

  • My School did the music man this year. Sure there maybe no one like Robert preston but matthew brodrick was pretty good too he was good in his own way.

  • this is bad quality...

  • You really ought to give Iowa a try!

    Man that girl nailed it!

  • Hypnotic. You believe they they believe and that makes you believe.

I could have been a salesman like that but I couldn't find a way to use my power for good and not for evil. I was never interested in convincing people that I had what they needed. Especially when I didn't!

  • The problem with this version is the problem with every version but Preston's. None of the other Harold Hills are believable. Just watch the video from the '62 version and you really believe Hill believes the town is in trouble and pool is the culprit.

Broderick and all the amateurs doing this song are just singing it with no conviction. Compare HH to the guy who sells the Vita-Mix at the county fair. Or the guys who sell the Ginsu Knives at trade shows. They are literally mesmerizing. Hypnot

  • 27 people live in iowa

  • ZZZZZZZZsssss. Ooohhh, this is lame. Good effort but...

  • How does Matthew Broderick look the same as when he was in Ferris Bueler's Day Off? He completely kept his youth. O.O

  • @isearchforfullmoons Baby Face... you've got the cutest little...

I think you get the drift.

  • *Broderick

  • Brodrick: no energy

  • @kwetzler624 how so?

  • Aw, Matthew Broderick......he's so cute. Can't wait for Tower Heist, I haven't seen him in a movie in forever!

  • Ah 240p, we meet again.

  • If I had a nickel for every pixel in this video, I'd have a nickel.

  • @eliza102eason

you don't know what a pixel is -_-

  • @eliza102eason i would be the richest man on earth

  • 26 dislikes for every pixel in this video.

  • gonna be honest i like this version better. matthew broderick is great

  • That was a fairly disappointing rendition of "Trouble".

  • not nearly as good as richard preston.

  • @Live2play88 robert preston

  • The original Music Man was indeed better in my opinion, but I like the fact that they decided to remake it so more people would enjoy it, just as they did with Bye Bye Birdie. I think that on its own, this is decent, but in comparison, nowhere near as good.

  • He like the old harrold hill better!!!! Boooooooo! This guy just ruined one of my favorite songs!!!

  • It kinda think that Robert Preston was a better Harold Hill than Matthew Broderick. He had alot more emotion and enthusiasm.

  • It seems 26 people won’t give Iowa a try.

  • If an inch of my cock disappeared for each pixel there is, I'd have a vagina

  • @YewBeTrollin If an inch of your cock disappeared for each pixel, you can forget about a vagina. You'd be left with a second esophagus.

  • @Theroha i like the way you think, congratulations!

  • the quality of the video is bloody awfull but the movie is great

  • @246mun Yes, it's a Disney re-make.

  • wow why is the first parts quality awsome but his wowwww

  • ARGH the quality is TERRIBLE

  • @246mun it was a broadway play and this is also a remake

  • my skool r doing a play and im in this and im a wan tan ye girl and the women and the framers wife !!!!!

  • @ReneeNme lol yea!

  • rename this "pixel ferris bueller in a suit"

  • i was in this play like 2 months ago

  • BAD QUALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i sing sum of these songs in chorus

  • i sing sum of these songs in chorus

  • i love this movie, i watched'/watch this in music class :)

but, no offense.... VERY BAD graphics and pixels! :/ :('

  • Matthew Broderick will always remind me of Ferris Buller.

  • if i had a dollar for every pixel on this screeny id have 1 dollar

  • @fenderman611 oh i think im gonna go see that! at the end of this month?

  • I love this musical. I was in it. The music is fantastic. The dances! wow! :)

  • Very good. They got the music right. I may prefer the original, but that guy's got class

  • I love this musical!!! The old one might be better, but this one is still good! my school did this musical so I know all the songs by heart!!

  • i love this im doing this whole thing as a play at my school

  • broderick rocks!

love this movie so much! i remember watching it the night it premeired on tv

  • People need to stop saying this sucks. I think Music Man in general sucks, but it's fun

  • Oh my.... this is so bad

  • Oh good lord...BRING BACK ROBERT PRESTON!!!

  • @Hethrin don,t be dising matt he is the better singer

  • im about to be in this play im so exited

  • I like it out side of the quality, this newer one has more of a pop version to it, I prefer the older one myself, much thanks though for posting.

  • the quality sucks

  • broderick is fine, but he doesn't have the patter that preston had. Preston was just flawless in that role.

  • On the one hand, sure, you'd never have seen blacks and whites rubbing shoulders like this at the time. So we can call it "inaccurate." On the other, "The Music Man" is an idealized picture of an America that never really was, and is full of little inaccuracies and anachronisms: Capt. Billy's Whiz Bang, for instance, wasn't published until 1919. So is ignoring the historical reality a crime, or is including racial diversity in our "ideal" picture of small-town America a virture?

  • The Music Man: The NES Game

  • This is just absolutely hilarious if you're familiar with and love the original version of this.

  • Jeez,First 1 great.Why is this one so blurry?

  • Robert Preston was not the most attractive man ever, but at least he had charisma.

  • Having seen the original version at least a hundred times, it might be easy to say that this newer version is no comparison. Both versions are quite good and Broderick and the rest of this cast did an excellent job! Are they different? Of course they are. Is one better than the other? Not sure, but personally I think I like this newer and fresher version more than the original.

  • 7:58 WIN!

  • I actually love this version of The Music Man! Thanks for posting!

  • he said boob....hehe....boob...

  • Excellent uploads. I love watching squares in action.

  • @ReneeNme :) Your comment made me laugh out loud for about two minutes straight. ...I couldn't agree more.

  • I like the couple at 0:38 to 0:42! They look just like the painting "American Gothic" (then again, it was probably planned that way for some dry humour!) Funny, though!

  • @missbeatrix1 not too quick, are you?

  • @jerkwallace

Well, then again, I was eight the last time I had seen this movie! So you've gotta give me a break! ;)

  • I don't mind this version but I always felt that Broderick lacked the energy that Preston gave the character.

  • No disrespect to Mr. Broderick, but if I have to buy a trumpet from him or Robert Preston, I'm buying it from Robert Preston. =D

  • I personally love this version of the Music Man. My apologies to any of the orginal's fans

  • what up with the graphics?

  • you should put this in a play list

  • My school did this play and it was so much better.... i was in it and it was sooo much fun, i was only in ensemble though

  • i didnt think broderick would even attempt prof. hill but he brings a different side of the character.hes cute rather than clever

  • definitely no Robert Preston. He kind of proves that nobody beats the original, as, if I recall correctly, Robert was on the original Broadway cast. Don't think that I've heard Matthew Broderick sing before - or perform at all, for that matter, but he seems somewhat dull. Apologies to Matthew's fans.

Can't wait to hear Kristin sing.

  • i remember doing the music man when i was in 8th grade. i was gracie and maud. in the song iowa stubborn, i had the small role of the farmer's wife. kristin chenoweth is amazing. she's great as g(a)linda

  • While the original will always be memorable and wonderful in its own right, this version shouldn't be dissed. The cast is memorable, and talented. My only wish is that they would have given Victor Garber a larger role.

  • What the hell happened to their faces?

  • the quality isn't the greatest... it's hard to tell what the people look like. since its all pixely.

  • HE SAID WELL ALL WRONG!

  • I prefer hearing my dad sing ya got trouble. He gets into it more than this guy.

  • :( I cant even watch this...the quality is terrible...

  • My teacher ALWAYS made us watch musicals. All the kids HATED it, but since I love musicals I always enjoyed it. This one and Annie Get your gun are my favorites.

  • horrible quality

  • Not bad, but I still like the original, of course. Broderick is a good actor, but I think I'd enjoy this more if he actually sang. He seems to do a lot of "talk-singing". Also, I don't think he conveys a lot of emotion in the songs. But I really like his acting portrayal of Prof. Harold Hill. Of course, nobody could ever beat Robert Preston. :)

  • this quality sucks but at least you can hear them.

  • more blacks. yeah in 1890's

  • for those who are complaining go watch the old version and stop complaining if you don't like don't watch .

  • This is horrid. It makes me cry, my ears bleed. Robert Preston will always be the best "Professor Harold Hill." around. This just sucks.

  • @FableofLife I agree with you . All those years Preston played Harold Hill. He had the caractor down to a T.

  • well its been like 50 to 60 years past the civil war, so african americans were free.

  • this version is terrible

  • why are there black people in this? there are no blacks in iowa, especially in 1912.

  • I know!!

  • prbly because they didn't want to seem racist. i kind of like them having black people in this

  • @hype4sistas: The only problem is, this is set in the US in 1912, and there is no way that black people would've had equal status with whites as is portrayed here.

  • @hype4sistas Fair enough, but it is incredibly inaccurate. 1912 Iowa, and blacks & whites are interacting as equals??

  • Why are you asking such a stupid trollish question?

  • @IoSonoUomo yea but if tghey ddint they would of been sued for not doing things equally , any way there wer blacks some may of been merchants mabey not extrmyl wealty but some did have money

  • i don't like how everyone in this movie can sing. i mean, not the main characters, but all the townsfolk, it seemed more natural in the first delicious movie

  • Broderick seems bored to death. And then he passes it on to us. This is dull as dishwater. What ever happened to the wink and smirk he has in so many other great performances?

  • @ImLikeThat1 I totally agree...it is COMPLETELY lifeless, he is completely lifeless in this role. Broderick is great in his own right but I cannot believe he was hired for this role, and then after filming it they actually released it. Good gosh!! FLAT as a dead cat...o.k, that might be a bit harsh but, not enjoyable to watch.

  • @HayRae99 I agree with you completely--no life to this number--I do not beleive for one minute that he is a fast-talking salesman--P. U.--this stinks

  • @ImLikeThat1 uh... what other great performances? he hasn't done anything good since Ferris Bueller. unless you count Lion King, but you can't see his face in that one, so he can trick you into sounding like he cares.

  • 2:40 glad they didnt try and recreate a buddy hackett

  • good movie bad quality :-)

  • The quality sucks!

  • How long is Music man altogether?

  • about an hour or two

  • @ altar10495 haha, how precise :D

2 hours and 12 minutes on my DVD.

    This is a great version!

    Kristin Chenoweth FTW :)

  • There is just a different flow to what they say. I do like how in the original it looks more like Robert is making up what he's saying is off the top of his head, but it's hard to compare them because of the differences in sets available to the 1962 version and this, the 2003 version. In this version, Matt makes it look like more of a prepared "this is what I do in every town" kind of thing.

  • yeah, but he was better in the producers

  • what's the quality?

and i think robert preston put a lot more expression and entertainment quality into his performance vs matthew broderick.

  • Haha wow, I never knew about a remake! And believe it or not I actually live in 'River City' (Mason City)!! We have an amazing museum dedicated to Meredith Wilson and the Music Man!

  • Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pool! My friend said that to me one time and I had no idea what she was talking about, but I said it to everyone I knew. Now we're doing this musical for school in March and I got in as a townsperson, so I thought it wise to see the movie. Now I know what she was talking about!

  • Hmm, well when you phrase it THAT way...

    You DO got trouble O.O

  • Wow, i never would have thought to give Iowa a try!

    lol

  • I loved the first version, but this one isn't that bad. I haven't seen this new version, so, thanks, CastingAway

  • You might wanna do something about the quality sorry

  • are you freaking serious? you're a moron. Matthew is a broadway pro. it's ok though because i know an uneducated person like you when it comes to broadway doesn't know what the hell you're talking about

  • @avenueyay he may of been a boradwya pro what i think trwesty02 meant was that he can sing but not very well , i mean dont get me wrong hes awsoem and hunky but he cant realy sing .

  • @sailormoon114 well thanks for being nice about it at least, people have been pretty harsh on my comment haha

  • @malteseboo no problem , i dont see any reason for me to get nasty with you . so any way what kind of vids do you up load

  • @sailormoon114 eh musicals. oh and barats and bereta! theyre the best!

  • @avenueyay broadway pro? honey. norbert leo butz is a broadway pro. taye diggs is a broadway pro. idina menzel is a broadway pro. matthew broderick *tries very hard* to be a broadway pro. he can sing, but it's kind of cancelled out by the fact that he can't seem to move his neck or make any facial expressions. which is kind of important when you're acting.

  • @HaylieJack who are you to say Matthew Broderick acts poorly?I doubt I see you singing and dancing WHILE keeping up acting. It may look all easy peasy to you..but it's alot harder than it looks.Sure this wasn't Matthew Brodrick's BEST film but I think he did pretty good.I agree with you on Idina Menzel and all that ,but they do Broadway shows for a living.Matthew Broderick is more of a movie actor.I guess having all that extra pressure he's not use to makes it harder to act properly.

  • @kdmart111 actually, i've been singing, dancing AND acting since i was 3, which is the only reason i find myself semi-qualified to critique his performance haha. i'll post some videos if you don't believe me :) yes, it is harder than it looks. but it can be done. and it can be done with feeling. which i just didn't see from Broderick.

here's the thing - he used to be one of my favorite actors. but i haven't seen anything real from him since Project X except Lion King, and you only get half

  • @HaylieJack He was great in the producers though..at least I thought :O

  • @kdmart111 of his performance there, because you never actually see his face. though i admit, i did love Inspector Gadget when i was a kid :)

i don't know. maybe it just scares me to think that an actor can get worse as they get older, not better. so i take it out on broderick by telling everyone how bad he is. not the most mature way to handle it, but i'm only human.

p.s. my comment about posting videos was not mant to be mean or sarcastic in any way. im actually willing to prove it :)

  • @HaylieJack And i didnt mean my last comment as arguing,I'm just very possesive of my favorite actors.

  • I love this version of the movie! Somehow I seem to always have You've Got Trouble stuck in my head during Calculus class! : D

  • Well, they managed to remake "Annie", which I didn't like as much. Ironically enough, it was right before I played Drake the butler in a junior production of it.

  • It's the worst casting of a lead ina musical remake I've ever seen. I loved Broderick in "Glory" and"Cable Guy", so I don't really blame him, I just wonder how he got the part. Preston's performance"kick's ass", while this is like watching jello freeze. Love you MB but you should a passed on this one.

  • robert preston does "ya got trouble" better..

  • He isn't bad... but he's not Robert Preston. I just don't buy him as a con-man.

  • i know what you mean... but i am a little old fashioned.. i love originals. don't get me wrong though.. this was a great remake. but i love originals..

  • I agree - his voice is too quiet and smooth. He's very talented, but Robert Preston just had this charismatic fire to his voice when he did the song. I liked the original better.

  • This is just a good movie, disagree with me, but i love it. And i think he did a great job.

  • horrible quality but great movie

  • Great Sho

  • marcellus wad supposed to be bigger than this guy is.

it would have been great if it was nathan lane.

  • I always found it amusing how racialy integrated River City is in this version. Not that I'm against it, but the average Iowa town in 1912 had no African-Americans.

  • in this day and age, people have to be politically correct. if it wasn't intergrated, then someone would have called it racist.

  • Unfortunately, yes.

  • Actually, Iowa was a pretty African-American friendly state after the Civil War. Iowa didn't start becoming largely unfriendly to black people until the mid 20s after the KKK gained strength.

  • I'm not saying that Iowa wasn't unfriendly, I'm just saying and Iowan town as small as River City in 1912 wouldn't have a black population or a very small one that probably lived on the outskirts and didn't "bother" the white part of town.

  • I don't care what people say, I love Matthew's performance.

His style is extreamly different then Preston's

(Who BTW, creeped me out when paired with a much younger Shirley Jones)

So when you compare the two, of course your going to get conflicted.

  • its filipino

  • iowa stouborne is my fav song in show(michael)

  • was the mayor in this the same guy from the annie remake?

  • Yup!

  • Yup that's Victor Garber. He was also in Titanic.

  • I remember him more from Alias.
