Well a couple of years on and the old boy is still going strong, now lives in the sump as he has a definite appetite for smaller fish. To answer some Q's, the tank is in my living room, the corals have grown some since this video was taken, new video now uploaded.

a ribbon eel is saltwater. your knife fish are fresh.

yea sure it may be fresh but if u keep them in a brackish tank for a while theyll become salt trust me i did and its awesome for sure but one thing though if they keep that ribbon ell with a knife fish the knife fish may try to eat so unless the knife fish is smaller than by all means go for it

I don't know who put this vid up but I can tell you that Ribbon Eels are very difficult to keep, first because like most eels they will jump out of their tank if there is any space they will fit through on the top lid. they are also very aggresive as seen in this vid. so I would advise something like the snowflake moray which doesn't get as bid and eats frozen/freezedried foods(less expensive than live)

My snowflake eel jumped out of his tank through the holes in the lid for the filter. He hit the ceiling and I found him behind the dresser accross the room. I tried to put him back in but he broke his neck and died.
