The attribution point you make is a good one. I've read/seen hard numbers that (at least a few months ago) suggest that women outnumber men almost 2-1 on Twitter. But you're right, we should cite that. So, we'll look around and do just that!
Great to see the Tucker Center looking into the many uses and effects of social media ...this is information that could be immensely useful to more than just athletes!

Quick update...
According to "Information is Beautiful" and an on-line Harvard publication, 57 percent of Twitter users are female.
