Sorry, I'm American so I don't get the British political stuff, but I assume John Prescott is the British Sarah Palin? Please excuse my ignorance. I love the British and will move there someday, but you know, politics are complicated, especially to a foreigner.

@uiruu Just to save you from this abuse, Prescott is not as bad as Sarah Palin. He is a reasonable human being but he tended to do a lot of political gaffs like saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing. This meant he was in the papers a lot for these misdeeds.

It is an incredibly important part of any society that there are mediators that can diffuse a situation with humour while also covering some very important ground and debating very important issues. @BoricuaChicah When you're having cakes at a picnic, you leave one cake out for all the wasps to get so that they leave the rest of the cakes alone even though all the cakes are equally as good. John Prescott was labelled as a figure of ridicule so he got all the criticism even though the rest of the cabinet deserved the ridicule just as much. The ridicule was the wasps, John Prescott was the wasp cake, the rest of the cabinet was the rest of the cakes, the government was the picnic XD

@BoricuaChicah so wasps are stinging insects with a sweet tooth that constantly harass people at picnics - dunno if you have these in america. The suggestion is that a cake is left out specifically for the wasps so that they do not disturb the rest of the picnic - a sort of decoy if you like.
