Was this chassis built from scratch or did they pinch it from another car?
At work we see a lot of XF's being driven around and all the guys keeps saying it's a mondeo (or has a mondeo chassis) due the X-Type pinching a lot of it bits from the mondeo, but the XF got their chassis from this but I can't find where the S got it from.
Germany has always been pretty technologically insane. It's just the culture. Were this course in any other country you would have 10x the amount of accidents I bet.

I was really disappointed when I went around the ring with my GT-R Spec V R35 in 8:12.01 but my friends say its already a good time but its still almost a minute gap with the official time
Do you guys think that playing Gran Turismo 5 on the nurburgring helps? Besides getting to know the track better of course, but i mean in terms of time. cuz, really, (not being cocky) besides the fact that hes got a diesel, 10 minutes is really slow on GT5... even with bad cars...O_O of course, i cant drive yet so...that makes a difference...
Ever since I got GT4 a few years I have wanted to go but never go round to it until someone told me they were going on a group trip. So, I went in July this year & had an absolute blast!!. As for the game helping I'd say an YES....BUT!!...only so much as you know the track layout. The HUGE difference is the rises & falls in the track which totally catch you out on your first 'real' lap. My advice is take it fairly easy to start with, knowing the track well gave me a big advantage on my friends.
As for time's,10 minutes is way easier on the game than the real track believe me!!. I thought I'd do it easily with my standard Ford Puma...WRONG!!!. My first lap took 11.52 ouch!!, no way I thought 10 minutes was possible. My second lap was a suprising 10.45. Third 10.19 so I thought I'd do it easily on my 4th but then the rains came dammit. To my suprise on my last lap I got 10.17 even though I took it fairly easy due to the conditions. My 10 minute lap will have to wait until 2010.
lol have you even played the game? Doesnt sound like it. Like our very articulated friend MrYippeekiay here knows what im talking about? Did you not hear him about it helping? what part of "YES" did you not understand?
Sadly it doesnt at all. I do both, and the game has nothing to do with reality other than knowing "next up is right hander". But dont rely on turn in points etc you will be dead on the 2nd corner... I'm probably top-10 globally in any car you give me on the game and I still cant do faster than 8:20 in my GT3 in reality...
Mind you I was quite proud when I did a lap in 10:49 in a rented Merc A Class Diesel this summer with 75hp.... that was squeezing it to the limit though, I even overtook some guys whoa....;o)
haha nice. but under 9 mins... like WTF thats crazy dude post it on youtube i mean its a good car too! but im assuming your just a petrol head living outside of germany, and so it would be inconvenient for ya. But seriously, at least knowing the lap well wont help at all? thats hard to imagine. im not saying that if i go there i will be able to score a 7:30 or something like that, but it would be better to know the lap rather not at all wouldnt it? Plus wat game are you playing? Dont tell forza3
Check my vids m8ey...like I said, it helps cos u'll know "next up is a right hander" but it'd be mortally dangerous for you to rely on braking points, turn-in points or apexes from any game. If u ever go (and you should!) much better to watch a good in-car vid of the car u intend to use on YouTube again & again. Or else take our lessons from Ron Simmons "RSRNuerburg" (google them) - much safer & cheaper than an accident. Now save up & do it, it's one of life's great adventures (+ addictions)
It's sort of true. Traditionally, diesel engines had a very narrow power band, so you get a massive slug of power in the mid-range, then nothing so you change gear, and then get no power again while the turbo spools up. Its not that they arent powerful; rather that they lack the responsiveness of petrol engines, which you need for track driving.
Obviously, though, diesel engines have improved massively - they now rev much more freely and have their power spread more evenly over the rev range.
It's now 22 Euro's per lap. I paid 75 Euro's for 4 laps in July which was fairly expensive given the value of the pound but to be perfectly honest...it was worth every single penny.
Well mathematically you'd have to be driving a minimum of 78. In general, as you drive past the corners you shouldn't use full power, more so half, and don't break as much because you risk locking up. Brake to aim, half power, then push full power. Try to avoid drifting, but if you have to do so but as quickly as possible, much like what they do in the RingTaxi.
This track is all about not having fear. Majority of the corners are high speed and this is ironically the only track I have ever driven on where you don't need to do much braking at all. It's also hard to get a good time while people are on the track.
does any one here thinks that the new facelift on Jaquar isnt the same old Jaquar anymore? i mean if u take a look at bmw even with the new facelift u can still pick up some old traits but the new Jaquar has lost its soul for somehow.. is it just me ?
Aston Martin is not American. The majority of Aston Martin is owned by a group of investors led by David Richards from Prodrive (Oxfordshire, England). This group also includes Investment Dar and Adeem Investment Co from Kuwait. Ford owns 8.4% of Aston Martin.
That'd be awesome to take my car around that track. I wouldn't do as well (maybe) as the Jag but it sure would be fun! Probably be the only Aurora to ever go on the track, maybe even the only Oldsmobile at that.
The nurburgring is awsome, i got a chance to go round in a few times on an open track day, it was a great day, really sunny too. I enjoyed looking at all the drawings on the road too. Amazing.
Sorry, but regular users estimate the death toll at between 3 and 12 per year. If it were 1 per week, then it would be 200 people every 4 years, not 200 in its roughly 70 year history.
