As we are told by historian Paul Fregosi in his extraordinary book Jihad, after signing the surrender Bragadino went to Lala Mustafa to discuss peace terms.
He arrived in full pomp. That is, mounted on an exquisitely turned-out steed and wearing the senate violet robe. In addition, escorted by forty harquebusiers in high uniform and by the strikingly handsome page boy Antonio Quirini (son of Admiral Quirini) who held a precious parasol over his head.

Always by his order, the puppet was placed astride a cow and one more time circled around the town then hoisted atop the main mast of his flagship. To the perpetual glory of Islam.

The throne went to his third son Selim the Sot. In 1571 General Lala Mustafa conquered Cyprus, and here committed one of the most atrocious infamies with which Islam has ever smeared itself - the Martyrdom of Venetian senator Marcantonio Bragadino, Governor of the Island.
As we are told by historian Paul Fregosi in his extraordinary book Jihad, after signing the surrender Bragadino went to Lala Mustafa to discuss peace terms.

Finally they unhorsed Bragadino, they sliced off his nose and ears. Then they forced him to kneel before the monster who ordered to flay him alive

Then the final torture. He died while being flayed. And when the flaying was over, Lala Mustafa commanded to straw-stuff his skin and fashion a puppet. Always by his order, the puppet was placed astride a cow and one more time circled around the town then hoisted atop the main mast of his flagship. To the perpetual glory of Islam.

Jelal ad-Din took Tbilisi on 9 March 1226. The defeated Georgians were ordered to change religion and become Muslims, but refused and almost the whole population over 100,000 people - was massacred.
