Best players are russian, that means little when assembling a team. A US coach said it not too long ago;

"Europeans and Russians are producing the best players in the world. Canadians are producing winners."

Using 06 as an example of why Russia is better? Almost all of Canada said the 06 team was one of the weakest we could have produced. It was the old boys out there, right when we had all the new young guys turning it on. It'll be MUCH different this time around!

Maybe so but I believe the reason why is too many American city teams. I'm not saying its all bad but with only 6 Canadian teams Its not getting as much attention it could get. Besides who the hell watches hockey in Arizona? And for players, it's good to have a mix of european, russian and north american players. After all its called national hockey league.

Actually the opposite is true. The NHL now is much more exciting than it's ever been and the Russian and Europeans are a big reason why. The speed and skill in the game now is incredible. You obviously only watch hockey for the fights which I don't get really. I like fights too, but if that's all you want stick to boxing or MMA.

I kind of agree with you on this. I think the Canadians are actually playing with much more skill than ever before. Stamkos, Crosby, Toews, Richards, Carter, Getzlaf, Perry, Nash can all dangle and are extremely skilled and fast. We needed to learn how to play that way more, while keeping our toughness.

anewillss. YOu obviously don't watch much nhl cause if you did you'd notch that the only reason why the nhl is where its at right now is because of the russian and other europeans. Just look at the top scoring leaders both this year and last year. The NHL would be nowhere if it wasn't for the europeans. I am a canadian and I support russia at 2010 and 2014. North American players don't suck but the europeans are way better

The Europeans are way better?? Thats definitely debateable..On Olympic ice..with a wide open game they can show off there talents a little better..but the North American game is much more physical.. The best comment I ever heard was after the 2010 WJC in Saskatoon when the coach of team USA said.."We played Canadian Hockey to beat the Canadians" thats why our brand is better..And Olympics after Olympics...tournament after tournament..the proof is in the stats..

Emery's KHL team Atlant Mytischi did not make it to the final, however, his former NHL team did (when he played for Ottawa).

Also, he's a very talented goalie. Just had some off ice issues the season before he ended up in the KHL. Looks like he's straightened himself out and he's playing well for the Flyers this year.

Yup! He seems to have worked on his rebound control as well. Less focus on boxing more on goaltending maybe? Emery is a good guy, I've met him a few times in Philly with a friend of mine who plays for the Flyers.
