I'll give five bucks to the person who can spot the totally out-of-place pretentious prag who muddies up this awesome documentary, I'll give you a hint...
Oh, Caitlin, what a hipster you are. A transexual lesbian Wiccan who had an "indie" band. And did you need to do your interview in a cemetery? Oh, and I love the "when I talk to paleontologists". I wonder what Lovecraft would have thought of you. I bet he would think the same as me: that you're a hipster poser and this world has way too many of you.
@IzzyIsou That's a weird outpouring of pointless bile toward someone who doesn't know you, hasn't harmed you in any way, or done anything to you. Does it just make you mad that people who are different from you exist?
Have you tried the superb books by Robert M Price: 'The new lovecraft circle' & Ramsay Campbell, "Tales of the lovecraft mythos" & "Ashes & others H.P. lovecraft & divers hands". Another excellent book by R. M. Price is, ' The reason driven life '
The Colour out of Space was the first of Mr. Lovecraft's stories that I read when I was in grade 7. I have been a fan ever since. I wish someone would make more movies from his novels.
It seems that Lovecraft were so prejudiced and xenophobic, he wouldn't have obviously been as fascinated as he was by ancient non-European cultures in Egypt, Asia, etc. I don't deny his hangups though
Would love to see the entire documentary! Fantastic. Hope you'll check out our Lovecraft items on our channel and website! We are the new producers of the feature film version of At The mountains Of Madness.
@MortosSoulsStealer never heard of multi region hacking?? anyway, good to see Gordon, Del Toro being fans, like you couldnt tell haha...screw the films (except the HPLHS stuff) and start with SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH & THE THING ON THE DOORSTEP imo.
really great work. Only just started researching into HP Lovecraft never really went further than watching the movies his stories inspired, it's amazing how far his influence reaches!!!
Is it considered acceptable to torrent and when something come to my country buy it imediatelly because i want the real thing + torrents are stupid but i just wanna se if im interested
There is either 2 people who do not like h.p Lovecraft, they probably have absolutely no imagination and cant open there mind to new things. Or there probably extremely stupid people who are expecting some gratuitous bloody cheap grade b horror story.
can anybody help me? I'd like to find the subtitles of the documentary because I can't understand clearly all the things said by the interviewers. please, thankyou!!
Good God, I get sick of reading - in the media or here on YouTube - comments about his alleged 'racism' as though it's one of the most important features of his writing. If you don't like his views, deal with it, but stop pretending to understand this most fascinating of men.
Lovecraft wasn't a "racist" in the general sense of the word. He was a frightful intellectual snob and most of the minorities he encountered in his insular, old-money upbringing were uneducated servants and laborers. Is it any wonder he considered them to be his inferiors?
Yet he had no trouble defying his family and marrying a Jewish woman because he had great respect and admiration for her intellect.
@KajiCarson: Essentially, you are in the right. I would argue, however, that he could, on occasion, be jaw-droppingly offensive in his statements (see, for instance, LETTERS TO RHEINHART KLEINER or LETTERS FROM NEW YORK); at the same time, he would almost certainly show kindness, on a personal level, to the very ethnics he so despised in general. As for his being bitter and lonely -- the latter, perhaps. The former... that I rather doubt. Flawed, yes, but overall a genuinely good human being.
@MortosSoulStealer Regrettably it is only available in the American region (Region 1) on DVD. We're pressing our distributor to address this issue especially since there are so many people like yourself who live in Europe and want to see the documentary.
That said... I know the Blu-Ray version is Region 0 (all regions) and people have been able to play the Blu-Ray in Ireland and England.
Our distrib is also working on making the film avail for download. We'll keep you posted on that.
@wyrdstuff.... hi greetings from israel im also a huge lovecraft fan there aren't many like me in israel believe me (fans of Lovecraft) can i get this DVD on E-bay ? it looks so awesome i must posess it....since i already got the necronomicon !
@fin38 We're hoping it will be available soon for download through all the normal channels. I know that some have posted Bit Torrents. I kindly ask for those inclined to torrent FOTU to be a bit more patient. It is coming to a computer near you.
"What drove this old world xenophobic gentleman to write these tales?" probably because he was a backward thinking, racist, hateful excuss for a human being lol.
I LOVE his stories/imagination but he was a terrible person and the morals of his stories are really horrible sometimes lol
He was never cruel to anyone personally. Granted, he was a bitter and lonesome elitist with pro-segregation views, but he showed generosity and kindness to those who sought his friendship and guidance. He befriended some admirers so thoroughly that they worked their entire lives following his untimely death to promote his life's work.
Mr. Lovecraft was a flawed person, but he was NOT a terrible one.

Our distributor is seeking someone to handle the DVD in other regions. In the meantime, I'm told the Blu-Ray is Region 0 and someone wrote from Ireland to say it worked for them.
@distantworld That says more about your own ignorance than any lack of merit on the part of the commentators. You haven't heard of Neil Gaiman? He is the writer of Sandman, American Gods, Stardust, The Graveyard book, Coraline, Anansi Boys, etc. He is quite a big name in modern fiction.
It's a problem thats been adressed.. think it was some malfunction on the dvd or whatnot. Either way. It's been fixed and new dvd's are on their way out there.. should be there soon.
