  • Questo è il vero glam rock, denso di sottile fascino decadente e una spruzzata di sensualità che non tracima nel volgare.E poi Ronno è stato un grandissimo chitarrista che ha infarcito le canzoni di David con il suo talento immenso.

  • incredible crisp quality to that bass intro line

  • I went through my teens with David Bowie, I'm in my 40's now and I still get goosebumps!!

  • I'm big Bowie fan, saw him three times on his'Ziggy' tour in 1972. But he nicked this guitar riff off Jeff Beck when he was in the Yardbirds & their version of 'I'm A Man'. When he was young Bowie says he tried to look like Keith Relf of the Yardbirds and Jeff Beck was Mick Ronson's favourite guitarist.

Not that it matters, this is better than anything the Yardbirds did heh heh heh.

  • bello da morire!!!

  • Thanks for the music David, you are unique.

  • Awesome... X factor? Well Factor off !! This is the real McCoy!!

  • I was Junior Para

  • punk

  • Bowie writes some of the best lyrics in my opinion.

  • @plane7

That's because he uses the same methods as William S. Burroughs (he said this is where he got his style). If you read Burrough's books you will begin to understand.

  • even from the early days he has proved himself to be a wanker of the first degree, a total prentious sell out, may he rot in the peat fires of the Outer Hebrides

  • @tatsuko1 very prentious I agree - as was the subject of this song - writing novels on brown paper in prison, dreadfully prentious...unlike youtube commentators who have nothing to be prentious about, or sell out- whatever that means.

  • @tatsuko1 If you're looking for a 'troll' vote. You have it.

Rot in Peat Fires of the outer Hebrides? Are you fucking kidding me? Take all those letters of the alphabet that you used, put them in your mouth and choke please. You're obviously too stupid to keep spitting them out.

  • 1972, back when Bowie was probably the coolest guy on the planet ...

  • fuck me i miss the 70 s and ziggy

  • " Smiles like a Reptile " and " Sleeps in a Capsule "

    Love you David * * *

  • Bowie wrote this for a cleaning product called,"Clean Genie". He wanted too much money for his jinggle. It was never used. Who cares if its about a cleaning product its cool.

  • @TheBlindPig1 The lyrics are actually about iggy pop. And if you listen to them its obvious. "Screams and he bawls". Just Iggy to a tee. And all the freaky shit he talks about was just how insane Iggy was at the time.

  • @w0bbl3r Do you want to hear iggy? Well i would bound the world in sacrement. But would the people not speak out agaisnt the sacrement? No because they would have none of their own.

  • @w0bbl3r - the song is about Jean Genet - duh!

  • Isnt it sad I cant think of atleast one new band in this decade right now..... I wish There was some good new bands :( But least the theres bands from the 90s 80s etc who still make music.

  • Get rid of Bieber... and give Bowie the years Bieber would've had... PLEASE!

  • and how cool is Mick Ronson on guitar !!

  • Sweet had a hit with the same riff "Blockbuster". I admit this is cooler.

  • love it ! v glam

  • Mick on guitar its so cool

  • David in Yardbirds mode.

Although his "Young Americans' phase was interesting ,I still wished he'd took this stage a few years on. Thisis some of the coolest rock'n'roll.

He said:"I've rocked my roll,I want to become a Frank Sinatra ,and I will succeed".

  • jean genie, it's a bluesy song, really knock's me out!

  • too cool

  • Today's men have to wear this again! and go today to the hairdresser ;-) great!

  • Saw him live in 1972 an 73, awesome.

  • yes eternal

  • This promo film (they were called that then cos video hadn't been invented) was filmed for peanuts by photographer Mick Rock. The outside scenes are in LA.

The girl is Cyrinda Foxe who'd appeared in Andy Warhol film 'Bad'. She married David Johansen, of the NY Dolls but left him for Steven Tyler, In 2001 she got a brain tumour, she was broke and homeless. Bowie donated a guitar for her to sell and Tyler set her up Gramercy Park Hotel, NY. She died in 2002 aged 50.

    RIP Mick and Cyrinda

  • @monkeytown1000 Damn. That's sad. Thanks for the information, monkeytown.

  • I got news for you karl1234, but Bowie was way interested in $. He's the most successful businessman in rocknroll. A real moneymaker.

  • @Teledildonics5000

I don't really care if they made money, I was more pointing towards the content of what they sang, Bowie used W.S.Burroughs cut-up technique to get his unique style, his music was almost occult. On the other hand you turn on the TV to day and it's 50 cent singing about "dollar dollar bill ya'll" or some shit.

At least the culture that was made in 60s/70s/80s was not pure vanity.

That's what I was getting at.

  • @Teledildonics5000 he is no gene simmons when it comes to business, that man is about the biggest businessman going

  • @russellrosario youre HIGH. why do you think the U.K. has a form of currency known as BOWIE BONDS? the guy put the rights to his songs on the stock market. let me clarify...you can buy stock in his songs. it makes you and him richer. name one other person who has had the intellect to do such a thing.

  • 32 deaf and bind people

  • @JohnnySton3r deaf, blind & stupid :O)

  • give me your era my one sucks :(

  • @Icausedthe911 You know what's really bad about our era, dumbasses who can't write proper english and use faces for punctuation, cunt bag.

  • @Icausedthe911 what he's done is eternal

  • @Icausedthe911 Don't be one of those pretentious kids. No one likes them... Well, obviously, as of now 44+ people like them but still... Enjoy the music, it doesn't matter how old you are, no one cares.

  • @Icausedthe911 everyone says that . the 70s was the decade that style and taste forgot , and i lived through the lot as a 60s rocker . hated it , still do but everyone has thereown opinion i guess .

  • @Icausedthe911 Not really. You just need to look harder.

  • David Bowie - a true original.

  • oooh Bowie its a genius but this song sound like The Sweet

  • It is so great to see bowie playing a guitar. As a protege of Marc Bolan and T Rex, he surpassed his master and made musical history.

  • Bowie looks good as always but his bandmates -awful! :-b The bassist -what the hell is that beard? And Ronson really looks like shit. But it's a hell of a band. Truly great. Bowie is a genius.

  • I miss Mick Ronson...he really enhanced Bowie's music.......Bowie was on top of the world back then

  • I love Ronno. He always looks like he's getting off, playing the guitar. Its so great.

  • First heard this in 1992, I was 13 and thought that nothing could be better than living a long simple life and still being able to dance to this in my 80s. Times have changed but why change this?

  • Ronson/Bowie is up there with Page/Plant, Elton/Bernie, John/Paul for great musical partnerships.

  • @jpd632 Elton John and Bernie Taupin do not compare to any of the six other musicians that you mentioned.

  • @jpd632 what about jagger/richards instead of elton bernie....

  • This video captures the spirit of Age very well...and features arguably one of the best true rock songs of the 70s. Ziggy was (is) brilliant.

  • who's the blond guitar player?

  • @digenovafilm That would be Mick Ronson. He played with Bowie from 1970 through 1973.

  • @digenovafilm mick ronson

  • I saw the '72 Ziggy Stardust tour--it freaked me out and changed my life, LOL. I can't even begin to say how different Bowie looked, and sounded, to all that had come before--damn it was surreal.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Wow! Punk Rock is still really trippy! I remember in high school , class of 77. Glitter covered high heel sneakers were the thing. Remember "Low Spark of High Heel Boys". I went to Westwood, to see "Rocky Horror Picture Show".

  • hey it rhymes!!!!

  • the blond girl @ 00:51 is/was hot...

  • @gdominus That is Cyrinda Foxe ex-wife of New York Dolls frontman David Johanson, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler (she is the mother of model Mia Tyler.) Sadly she died of cancer several years ago--but she was a real style icon in the '70's.

  • Excellent!

  • 1972, the peak of Bowie.

  • LONG LIVE MICK!!!!!

  • thank you Mr Bowie for expressing something 4 me in such an eloquent way.

  • i want angie's jacket! and mick's!

  • Why did I have to grow up in the age of shit musicians only interested in $ and not the 60s/70s?

  • ... many were just as interested in money back then as well.... look it up. the stones and most of those bands were in it for the money.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 I grew up in the 70s, and trust me, most of the music was commercial shit. The crappy stuff has been forgotten, that's all. Time has a way of doing that.

  • @omgitsmikegravel

At least in them 70s they had some meaning other than pure materialism. There is no purpose in people's lives today, it is quite literally "live, work, make as much money as possible, die". They were onto something greater in the 70s, they were working towards Crowley's Golden Dawn, Hunter Thompson describes it perfectly in his "wave" speech, *you could light sparks anywhere. Thee was a fantasitic universal sense that what we were doing was right and that we would prevail*.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 there are as much shit musicians only interested in money now as there were in the 60s/70s and if you don't think so you're delusional

  • @SomethingRules

I disagree in that I believe there were many more musicians who were doing it for the love of the music and for the sake of the cultutural movement going on then. They were somewhere far above material greed.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234

sorry Karl, 70 and 80s ROCKED!

  • @ckseminole1

    ? I never said they didn't. I agree.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 You're lucky?

  • tune!

  • The blonde is Angie. Her & Davids son, Zowie, is now a director. The 2009 movie "Moon" staring Sam Rockwell was directed by Duncan "Zowie" Jones. Jones is Bowie's real last name.

    DB - FTW
