what I love the most about this video is the respect to the lyrics and music that is given by both Ed and the orchestra-when he turns and faces the orchestra during the music portion 3:25 where it is just them playing, the look on his face shows right down to his soul - just makes me realize how lucky we are to have this type of perormance
This all-orchestra version is SO much better than the album version, which is also very good. This is probably the most beautiful orchestra-oriented rock song ever! Each Collective Soul song is so heartfelt. In my opinion, they're the greatest rock band in the world outside of the Beatles!
Hahahha! I just thought to myself: "I don't think I know Crown?" Which would be odd, because I know all CS... 4 seconds into the video..Oh YEAH!!!♥♥♥♥
This song means SO much to me and my children! My husband died 2 weeks ago tomorrow. This was his favorite song, played at EVERY week so loud our windows shook - amazing - a song about a son losing his dad (we have a 10 yr old son). My husband and I had a trip scheduled to see Collective Soul this Sept 11th at Hard Rock in Vegas. Well, my son is going with me now!!!
Such an emotional song anyway and when it dedicates it to his dad who had just passed away it is sadder than anything I can imagine, I love collective soul
I feel so old. I remember wanting to try out for the AJ when I was in the 8th grade. If you were in the a school band and really enjoyed learning music trying out for the AJ was the ultimate goal. Atlanta's school music program along with the ASO is a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge in the arts and entertainment industry hands down.
Collective Soul is the most underrated band! Take a listen to their music library and they simply do not make a bad song. Ed Roland is a great songwriter and composer of his music. Outstanding!
Just heard this for the 1st time today..and HAD to see if it was on here..it's SO touching..so beautiful..and listening to the lyrics..well pretty emotionally filled knowing that he dedicated it to his Dad who past away.
I was actually at this concert, and during this song, and especially the end, Ed was really emotional. This show was excellent, although CS always puts on a wonderful show. I think the radio stations are stupid for not playing them enough. What's their problems? That's ok. I have ALL of CS's cd's, so no sweat.
I only just discoverd this band through my Unlce and they are amazing! I'm from the UK and they are far more impressive than alot of British bands out there.
I love this song. This show was incredible. I was there. The thing is when we first got there, the tickets we had were to sit up at the top. Little to our surprise, we got to move down like super close. It was awesome. CS is my FAVORITE GROUP of the ALL!!!
I had the good fortune of meeting his father many years ago at a private concert in Atlanta. He was pretty proud of his son. This certainly is a fitting tribute to his father.
Looking forward to hearing him sing it in a couple weeks in Vancouver.
This song is for all the Fathers..(who left the world).. " whos gonna be the shepherd.. to lead this poor boy back home...?? Who's gonna wear my Crown?? I dont know.. I just might alone... Just got to go my way... Truth is, Ed Roland wrote this song when his father died..
The best part of this song off the disc doesn't even start until a long dead space and an entirely different song starts which is the best they've ever done.
I received this DVD at Christmas a couple of years ago. I don't remember anything else I got that year. This was truly the best present I ever received. Thanks mom :)
One of the best performances i have ever seen i have seen some of the greats and this ranks very high also nice to see someone of faith make it.His voice is liken to Layne staley's in that you can feel so much from him through his voice.
They're playing in Winnipeg this Saturday for the first time in 3 years (When they were awesome). I would love to see orchestral backing this time round..especially for The World I know. Bring strings!
It is rare nowadays to find a performance that is more genuine and sincere as this. This is what music is all about. Ed wore his heart on his sleve for this. It wasnt manufactured. Anyone with half a brain, and half a heart should be able to connect with this. Just an unbelievable performance charged with emotion that we can all relate to in some form or another.
I love this band, I will be seeing them this Sunday in Denver, have waited years for them to come to this area. This is a great version of this song, the symphony is a perfect addition!
Ed Roland's blog about Afterwords-It feels good to be loved. Thanks to everyone for supporting this band...when you're purchasing our new recording...not only are you giving love to Collective Soul but you are helping to change the music industry. @PoorGirl777 My heartfelt sympathy for your loss. If there is any band out there that can bring peace to a sad situation it's Collective Soul.
I hope you have fun with your son at Hard Rock, and my prayers are with you and your family.
