Dude you effin rock!!! I aspire to be as good as you in the near future. I would to ask you a question though regarding this video: does the Eminor blues scale work with the Emajor blues scale? If not, what is the difference?
@canihaveanid The E blues scale works over the whole E blues progression. The notes are E G A Bb B D E. many players also add the E major pentatonic notes to add sweet sounds to their licks :o) the notes are E F≠ G≠ B C≠ . You can also try B lues scale over he B7 chord.
@askeyt hi thanks for your post. I'm really busy with session work the moment. Record the section you like and listen to a small part and transcribe/work it out in small sections using your ears. This will do more for your playing than you can imagine. try to sing the licks. The scales used are the ones described in the lesson. Have fun. max :o)
Thank you for giving up your time to share your knowledge. We are so lucky to have the internet combined with kind people like you who are willing to teach. There's no better age to learn guitar than now! I reckon if it wasn't for the internet I would be miles behind the level I am at now, and in such a short space of time. Thanks again
Hi Max, this is a fantastic tutorial, and the whole thing just sounds incredible! I was wondering if you could help me out - I know the simple blues scale and major scale but i just never feel that my playing really emulates anything 'bluesy' enough - is there any advice you could share or sites that may be able to help me? Any help would be so appreciated! wez-side@hotmail.com
Paul here, UK Vocal / Guitar playing in Menorca, I'm a rhythm guitarist, self taught, played many years, where the hell do I start to know how to play lead ? I haven't learnt scales or anything, I am totally self taught, I play some simple lead but to be honest, although the notes are spot on, I am playing by ear totally, haven;t a clue what I am playing or what mode / scale I am in, whatever they are !
@AcousticMax Thanks, I will try to pick up the licks, (like you said), by ears. Saludos desde Agrentina, I like blues and Tango, my favourite music. Nuevamente, Un gran saludo desde Cordoba Argentina y muchas gracias
@wildwestpoint send me a message with your e mail address. Check out my solo on the Voyage -air guitar I have tabs for that. I dig out something for this one. The idea here is you use your ears as much as possible. :o) Cheers Max
@bledd22 I've have similar stuff tabbed out which I can try and scan tomorrow for you but the best thing to do is use your ears and jam with other players. Learn one lick and re phrase it as many ways as you can. hard, soft, fluidly, stuttered, miss the odd note out and make it your own. Have fun. max
@ryanc177 Hi Ryan, I find that the E Blues sounds better, you could try the chord tones of A7, A,C#,E G to spell out that chord and the scale for the chord too, A mixolydian. :o)
Alright swish video camera! Great to see I'm not the only one who haunts this part of the world (digital realm) It's also nice to see Im not the only one who has lost their head making guitar vids! speaking of heads i better go to mine now or i'm going to fall asleep at the computer.
@ronboy51 yep I have 2! The Messiah is the Dreadnought with the cutaway. That features on Cherry Lee Mewis album on the track "Something You Can't Have" and "Tried Everything"
The little 808 Maton was used for most of the rhythm stuff on Cherry's album Southbound Train, as it's bright with a balanced bottom end.My Martin 00028 was used on the jazzy stuff. " Let's Go Back", "Dancing Like Diamonds". It records beautifully. The best live sound plugged in is the Maton 808TE by a long way. Cheers Mx
Loved it! Thanks!

This is a great vid. I love to play around with e blues on acoustic.
Thanks for the upload and sharing a few licks, can't wait to try them!
On the turnaround, is it possible to use A min pentatonic over the A (the same way you use the B scale on the B)?
Thanks!! you should do more lessons!
