  • With voices from across the wide world!

  • Very powerful. Attention grabbing. Intense. Beautiful beyond words. Thanks for posting this. The choir director needs to be commended for a great version.

  • Magnificent! Kudos all!

  • So great, thank you.

  • I am in an university choir in dominican republic and i have tried to include this song and this very same arrangement and version in our repertoire without much success because of my director, but now i succeeded we are currently rehearsing this and other songs for a choir festival, and we have only three months to perfect it. And this is by far the best arrangement of this wonderful song. and this is a hell of a nice choir!! congratulations!! from dominican republic

  • pag pinoy talaga ang pronounce ng "we're" ay "where"... ganyan din ung sa version namin eh... hehehe...

  • You're relly good guys!!

Thanks for giving us a beautiful performance!!

I enjoyed it veeeeeeeeeery muuuuch ^_^

  • just beautiful

  • this is a marvelous rendition, well done ")

  • @lilloserlindz

Ok Would you post your video please??

Then we can tell you if you guys are better!!!

  • this is the arrangement my high school all state chorus sang. it gave me shivers then and still.

  • ang taas ng pitch.

  • de la salle voices really sang it with magic...

  • This is a gorgeous arrangement. Does anyone know who arranged this one? And I agree with ShadowKitten13, the emotion makes you want to cry. My chamber choir is singing Paul Basler's arrangment, and it's the most beautiful song we've ever done.

  • Me too, smallersah. It was 27 years ago, and I am here looking for versions. Remember how awesome the harmonies sounded in the choir room? 'That was always a song we would happily stay late to sing...you?

  • I have never heard this song sung so beautifully, with so much feeling. It is a joy to listen to.

  • wow...pretty amazing

  • By far, the best of the many versions of this song. These singers really convey how it feels to love the land.

  • Thanks for the appreciation!

  • me gusto buena interpretacion

  • aww it brings instant tears to my eyes

  • we sang this last in our school choir- it was the best song we ever performed!

  • It's nice to hear non-Americans (this group Filipino's) singing and putting much emotion on an American folk song.

  • lol

  • I agree, it's beautiful not only because the SONG is beautiful but because you can feel their emotion in it.

  • @alwilliam YES! I agree! Beautiful performance ripe with the longing of everyone to be free!

  • im 12 and im singing this for my grade 2 singing exam next week but in a higher key

  • Im singing this for festivle this year!

  • this is amazing.

    So melancholy and beautiful.

  • its my first year in middle school and im 11. I'm singing this song for my choir group. this sets very good example for me. thank you

  • wow ive sang this song my senior yr in high school and you guys are amazing the sopranos are awsome and the guys really make the song pop

  • I absolutely LOVE the sound quality and the purity of the sound that the Sopranos are producing. It carries the melody so well

  • This is one of my absolute favorite pieces of all time. The harmonies are well balanced here and it sounds superb!

  • I wish that they play this at my funeral

it expresses my love the best

  • Animo La Salle! We never had this in my time in Taft.

  • amazing.

  • Sang this once in the choir.

  • I played this in band

  • i love this song!

    it's amazing!

  • wOw!!

    it's really amazing..

  • Beautiful... I don't know why I'm crying...

  • our band is playing this..

    its amAZING!

  • it so is.

  • it´s just...wOw !!!

  • my choir is singing this now,

    it's the whole classes favorite.

    it's amazing.

  • i sang this song when i was in 8th grade for a solo. its a great song!

  • they need to watch their scooping in the unison parts. But it's pretty well done.

  • Although scooping can be an issue in choral music and singing in general, scooping can also be appropriate stylistically-speaking in folk music or gospel music (and more of course). I was impressed by the timbre and intonation of the choir as a whole and especially the little guys. Very bright sounding... and I loved the little bass punch in the end. BTW I am not saying you are wrong, just thought I would throw that idea out there.

  • Yes, I agree, but in the unison part of the piece at the beginning, I don't think it's very appropriate. They just need to be more careful about the liquid consonants. That's where they're scooping.

  • I absolutely 100% agree, especially about the bass part. It makes the end of the song.

  • This is one of the very best songs ever written!

  • Were singing this in Choir Class!

  • Girl need to watch their vowels getting too bright. Even so, this is one of the most beautiful choral performances I've ever heard.

  • thanks!

  • Bravo! Very, VERY nicely done of the Erb...which I consider the best setting of this folk song. Vocally you are top-notch, and I especially like the sensitive phrasing, and even tone quality, throughout the parts' ranges. Sopranos are just a bit bright, but that's just a personal taste. I'd prefer just a bit of "cover" on the the e's. Your pitch is exquisite, though. Marked this one as a favorite. THANKS!

  • wow thanks!

  • galing nyo grabe.... mga idol..

    aztig........

    especially my teachers......

    Ms. Castro and Ms. Pernez

  • I absolutely love this arrangement. It is the one I first heard it in, and the one I am currently learning in choir.

I positively love 1:57 to 2:19. My most favorite part.

  • i love this song. ive played many different arrangements of it as a complete work and as an excerpt in a larger work. every time it brings me goosebumps when we hit the huge minor chord impact point (1.53) in this arrangement. beautiful song....well sang

  • Beautiful job. This song is supposed to be song with feeling and heart. No part should over power another part. The basses carried the line very well. I could listen to this song all day from its many arrangments.

  • they made it 2 slow it shud have been up ,ore up beat

  • you're right...but who asked you.............

  • Can't agree. "Shenandoah" is open to a variety of interpretations and tempi.

The lyrics and minor chords definitely support a slow, melancholy take such as we hear here.

This choral group not only has nice voices but puts a lot of heart into this song.

  • i agree but they should have made it a little enjoyable im singing dat song in my HONORS CHOIR

  • Again, can't agree. I don't think there is a more enjoyable interpretation of this beautiful song.

  • yes we surely put a lot of heart in every song we sing.. thank you very much for appreciating our rendition.

  • thats the way this particular arrangment is made. If you dont like it, stop complaining and go listen to a different arrangment

  • Acctually in the Jamesa Erb Arragnment...which this one is...the count is only 58-60...which puts it at the right tempo. My concert choir has been performing this since the beginging of the year..and this is actually a little faster then the arrangment calls mor...this is about a 68 count.

  • Theres like 50 Bajillion arrangements of this song, my chior sang one last year, and were singing tis one this year. im SO happy. its such a pretty song

  • the de la salle college choir waterford, ireland did this too. it's a different version, its the one that starts off with the 'loo' in two octaves, brilliant.

  • we're singing this in my choir :)

  • Absolutely beautiful--well done!

  • "Work on grammar"? What are you talking about?

They're singing the lyrics of the song...

  • i think the persons talking about the accent of filipinos.. eventhough we can pronounce the word cleanly.. unlike some races not born in the USA, then eventually learning english, they cant speak english well.. anyways.. the accent.. even in latin songs, you can distinguish if its Filipino.. because of the incorporation of "y" in some words.. like, JUbilate Deo.. Jubilate Deyo.. thats how filipinos would normally sing the song.. i think thats what he's referring to..

  • i love this song. my school choir sings it all the time and our director always cries

  • i have sing this here, in Chile

it was great hear this again..., and be the public one time at last

    Thanks ^^

Honestly, I cried when I heard the first time this song, it is very pretty, the types resounded if dreamer, same with the girls, like a voice of sky.
