You guys go on and on about how the vox don't sound like a pirate, think of it like this: They sound like a captain bellowing orders as his throat's hoarse, his rum's all been drank, and they're being chased by the Spanish Navy off of the coast of Hispanola while there's a hurricane on the Horizon, and the nearest friendly port in the area is a good 200 miles to the north near Nassau in the Bahamas.

alright I like alestorm better, but just as pirates of the caribbean I did not only like captain jack sparrow, I liked barbossa to and even blackbeard. I wonder why it is that people say this isn't pirate metal. It's very obviously metal. And the lyrics are very obviously pirate lyrics. This band is extremely underrated. It's a shame they get so much disrespect...

@bummpinuglies It's because most people rate this band only by hearing "Cruise Ship Terror" which sounds much more like plain Thrash Metal with pirate lyrics. It's the same with Alestorm, only that their thrash songs like "Terror on the high seas", "Buckfast Powersmash" and "Leviathan" isn't among their most famous songs so people doesn't check out those songs first.

Like the music, and I love this vocal style but for pirates...it doesn't work as well.

Other than the scales the guitars are using, you wouldn't know this is Pirate Metal.

Running Wild did a great job laying down the foundation years ago. If there was competition it would have been back in the 80's not now. No, Swashbuckle and Alestorm are doing a great job carrying on their legacy.

I miss the stupid stories and the funny carribean tunes but also the raw and imperfect inyourface sound of the first album. Second album is cool and I can't say that there are no great songs (this one is kickass!!), but imao this album just isnt as the same anymore.Just not that authentic anymore.

@falconer6439 I didn't say joke metal. By "joke metal bands" I mean "metal bands which joke". Swashbuckle has always had a sense of humor to their music; as have bands like Dethklok, Alestorm, GWAR, etc.

Some people call it "gimmicky" but my comment was in regard to the bands whose music is good enough to escape that label (bands such as those I just mentioned).
