  • Ah ah it is a nice feature but for large US cities only , I suppose . I am from italy and in the overcrowded Rome if you are so lucky to find a parking space then having this system working soooooooo slow will result in other cars' drivers getting mad at you ! I would prefer other technology to be mandatory in a car . for example a volumetric sensor if you forget your child in the car under the sun ( two babies died this month in italy for this crazy reason !! ) .

  • It looks as if the LS is about to eat the Subaru in front of it from the aerial view

  • if you cant park yourself there shouldn't be a liscence in your wallet...

  • it can get you into the tightest of places but you wont be able to get your self out.they need to make one that takes it self out of the parking also

  • This technology is quite new so it is still primitive but it will get better in the future. For now, better learn to park on your own.

  • or you could just learn how to park 40 times faster..

  • i can park my long Mitsubishi L200 faster than this!!!

  • Dont you understand the meaning of the lines???

IT MEANS PERPENDICULAR NOT PARALLEL PARKING!!!

  • Damn how stupid can one be?

  • designed by men

    for women.

  • @jasonguyperson thats hilarious

  • @jasonguyperson Designed by the Japanese for Americans lol

  • by the time its done parkingg... ZzZZZzZZzzzz.

  • ?? how come mine doesn't self park?!!

  • @blueattackZ

IT'S AN OPTION YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE IT.

  • And it aint easy sometimes...for teens, girls, guys, old people, and newcomers . Rather it the first try using the computer.

  • If you dont like it dont use it. Is it an eye sore to you? Its an option for those who need it and for those who like it or like to use it. Its an excellent feature, an extra, something many cars do not have. Will you be complaining about cars maybe being able to drive itself in maybe 35 or more years? It something called technology making life easier for us. And it does not take 5 mins. to set up. Sure it can be just a little bit faster and *move forward* when done but maybe it will one day.

  • its great if you are a terrible parallel parker. My mom just bought this car and it works well. Even if you don't use it, its cool to say your car can parallel park itself.

  • Personally I'd be too impatient and lazy to do all that to park. I rather take 20sec to part than take 5mins to just set up to park. Plus if this is a busy street, people wouldn't be too happy to wait for ur car to park so slowly....

  • Can't park, shouldn't have a license

But For those who can park - plug this into the youtube search bar:

    v=EgADI5xdi6g

  • lexus is a great car but i think this system is for handicaps who don't know how to spin a wheel and are too laisy. besides you can park 5 times in the time you set that thing..final conclusion: don't know how to park, take a bus!

  • Lexus developed this system way too early, much research and development is needed, before it will work you have to manually allign a "safe zone" on the nav. screen which takes quite a while, and when you are in down town traffic this can be very annoying to other drivers, also, wonder why you dont see any more commercials on this cars "self park" feature? Its because Lexus has been hit with hunderds of law suits concerning property damage.Mercedes is now perfecting the technology, releasing soon

  • Really? Well, I do like Lexus' self park system but this is TOO BIG of a leap forward. I think I'm better off with Mercedes' Parkronic system which has proven not to have failed as much as Lexus'. Incrementally, Parktronic started in 1995 with just sensors and then integrated a rear backup camera with guiding lines. Then Distronic sensors and Brake Assist systems came to part with it. I could be wrong. I won't be surprised that it will brake, not steer, itself.

  • I think Parktronic can help people avoid scratching bumpers and other objects, but you have to do it youself.

  • if you don't know how to park, you can't afford that car anyways.

  • Why so much hate? Its jealousy. Lexus makes the best luxury cars out there.

  • absolutely. my mom went through a mercedes, two bmw's and then a luxus. she likes the lexus the best by far. go lexus!

  • This system is made especially for women. You guys get my point.

  • and one systems failure that is so common makes you pay $80,000 for the car behind you

no thanks, i'll stick to parking myself as it's just so fucking easy.

    lazy bastards.

  • if this video will be really truth, the car is very intelligent! =O

  • if this video will be really truth, the car is very intelligent! =O

  • Why do people even hate this anyways? Its a good thing, for those who CAN'T park themselves. You can always not use the system. I'm sorry that Lexus is much better than Lincoln or Chrysler at building cars. A Lexus is a luxury car, so it must have to have luxurious components and features. If you don't like this system, then go buy a different car.

  • If you can't park yourself you don't need to be on the road. My .02

  • why are you hating u americans or canadians cant drive for shyt thts why these were made for u ppl so dun hate

  • This system is crappy - check out my Frankfurt Motorshow film - there's an autoparking system by Valeo, much more advanced than this - no silly alligning of lines on car computer, no 5 meter space in front and behind the car - just 40cm front & 40cm rear. In real life if you have 10 minutes to play with the computer, you can park yourself as well :-).

  • just shut up and respect the car as a leap in technology.

  • lmao

  • There are senior, disabled, unskilled drivers who would appreciate this feature. Quit bashing it for no reason just because Japan did it first. That tech has shown us that we're getting closer to the self-driving car.

  • well people still have to drive, especially in here in States where it's impossible to go around unless you live in big cities. No, war vets you've seen doesnt represent everyone. It will REDUCE the chance of seniors crashing into others. Hyundai is crap.

  • Well yeah it may seem like crap to us, who don't quite have a use to it. But it's a significant advance in vehicular technology which might eventually lead to a car that mostly drives itself, and even further in the future, maybe a completely computer run road system. Like the movies! :P

  • well said.. plus you're gonna use it's components anyway (like parking sensors and self-operated steering wheel/brakes) for the radar guided cruise control and the lane keep assist.

  • No time for cavemen who are too stupid to use technology.

  • Forget this shit, I prefer to spend time practising until I can do it myself perfectly. if you rely on this, what are you gonna do when the shit hits the fan?

  • Why drive when you can bike and not worry of cars breaking down? Actually, why not walk? Now excuse me while I go kill a wild bear. No time for you humans who use any technology.

  • ...said the youtube addict as he lazily sat at his computer...

  • There is a version that self merges on the freeway. The sensors have longer range than the parking sensors. It will adjust the speed of the car according to the cars in back, at the side, and in front of you. Then it will merge into the slow lane. From there you can have it merge into the next lane and so on. I get to test it out on Tuesday. It doesn't feel natural, but neat feature.

  • This is getting to the point where people are paying money to create weaknesses and dependencies.

  • if u cant park u shouldnt b driving a lexus give it 2 me ill take good care of it

  • if u cant park you shouldent be on the road imo!

  • b0z..

great comment from a 5 year old.. german perhaps !

  • thats stupid it takes like an hour for it to go in reverse!

  • Useless! Yeah that MIGHT be helpful for old people. But the thing is, they would never be able to figure out how to use it.

  • it wasn't even a tight space, it was extremely big, if that thing could squeeze into really tight spaces i'd be impressed but so far i haven't seen anything.

  • 15 seconds... that's the time it took this guy to program the touch screen of where to park the car.

Meanwhile, I zip up behind him, park my car the old fashioned way, exit and wave bye-bye before he has a chance to move.

Lexus' R&D cash could've been put to much better use. This is nothing more than a 'nifty' toy to show off to your neighbors (and they'll hate you for being a rich prick anyway!)

  • if your too stupid to do that on your own, you shouldnt be allowed to drive

  • wow, this is for stupid retards who dont know how to drive. DERRR! park my car for me!

  • wtf that did nothing on its own.. .that sucked. it just turned the wheel initially. you got to be a moron to use that.

  • Great. Lexus suggested in year 2054 their cars will be like as we saw in Minority Report. Hope they could do that a bit sooner now.

  • Mercedes already has something like that.... its cruise control where the car can perform pass manuvers if the car ahead is going slower that the speed you set it to.

lexus is not creating anything new here. fuck lexus.

  • Would this be the same system that helps stop the car.. which ended up in them having a pile up on their test facility only a year or so back?

this car is designed for the older crowd. *shrug* anything that helps them from hitting my car and getting out of my way in a parking lot is a huge plus.

  • WHY?

  • Fantastic automatic parking. Amazing!! Thanks for showing this video.

  • Lovely car. I sat in the driving seat of a Lexus IS 250 in a showroom near Dublin. The comfort of the seats was superb and the general finish of the car was outstanding.
