People should wait until they are level 46 before going into the house. This will give them the strongest one-handed sword in the game. Learning Augment Frost from the Destruction Skill tree will also boost the frost damage.

don't mean to be a nerd, but if you pick this weapon up at lvl 46 or over it has base 15 damage which makes it stronger than a daderic sword wich has base 14 damage making this the strongest sword in the game, nuff said.

well it depends what level you are probably. it will go up in damage as you level. chillrend sucks anyways. get a daedric sword, put two enchantments on it and use backsmithing and enchanting potions.

@bigolballsacks Once you get to a high level, like level 50 or something, Chillrend has a higher base damage than a daedric sword, and the enchantments are way better.

@Dwarfyy666 There should be two arrows one pointing at the door and the other is pointing at something under the balcony. Shoot at that second arrow and it should bring the bridge down. If that doesn't work go and talk to Maven Blackbriar all you have to do is find a quil and it absolves the guard's debt and he leaves and let's you in.

@Dwarfyy666 Pretty sure it only comes down during the Mercer Fray quest. To get up there without the quest use whirlwind sprint on top of the house to the left and you will get on the balcony. Just pick the lock and enter.

@owensamrob o is that why i just got it to 942 armor rating? its a soft cap so all you have to do is use enchanting and alchemy, and obviously smithing. infact i got my armor rating past that without alchemy, all i had was 100 smiting and a ring of minor smithing

@mylittapwner enchant your boots and gauntlets with fortify one handed, and you need arcane smithing perk, and you need to enchant some cloths, gauntlets and a ring with fortify smithing, and enchant your armor and a ring with fortify one handed, and then smith your sword to legendary, with your smithing clothes. I got my deadric sword to 199 tht way

My one handed daedric sword does 74 damage and I use dual (148) I also have a 720 armor rating with full daedric legendary I am legit and on xbox I have upgrade perks btw ;)

@connormanl9 Dawnbreaker is really only useful in dungeons with draugr and skels because of its enchantments. Chillrend is a far superior sword because (without using the restoration loop), its damage output vs. EVERYTHING (not just undead like DB) is far superior once you smith it.

Guy if shooting the mechanism don't work just jump on to the barrel on the left then jump on to the roof then you got to do a crazy ninja leap on to the manor keep jumping around until your on top of the manor drop down pick the lock then your in..

The best enchanted weapon I have found so far is the Holy Ebony War Axe, it causes undead up to LEVEL 40!!! TO FLEE!! I found it inside the Twilight Sepulcher, near the skeleton dude, the sad thing is that I was playing on Master Difficulty and the light in the pilgrims path HURTS SOO MUCH that I died. :( i couldnt keep the holy ebony war axe, i wished that I had saved it.

Also, Master Difficulty= Stronger enchantments

I love Chillrend in this game. It wasn't too special in Oblivion, but in Skyrim it's my favorite weapon next to Dawnbreaker. It is also, by technicality, the best sword in the game if you obtain it at level 50 (so anybody who is wondering, yes it based on your level). If you do so, its base damage is higher than the daedric sword and it has a killer enchantment. In all honesty, Chillrend and Dawnbreaker may be my favorite swords ever featured in an Elder Scrolls game.

@Spideyfan117 You haven't found Windshear yet have you? Its Scimitar that does a 100% chance to bash/stun or you can call it paralyze since enemies wont be able to do anything after they get hit. The description says chance to bash, but the bash chance is 100%. Bethesda has not patched this up yet so I thought I might share the most overpowered weapon in the game.

@cebuanoguy I have windshear. But it doesn't bash every time when I use it. :( Still, the base damage and enchant are greater on Chillrend, BUT, that sounds like one hell of a nice glitch. The description of Windshear says that it has a chance to knock opponents down, but they just stagger when the effect works with me. Whether or not that's the result of a glitch on top of the already glitched sword, I don't know.

@Spideyfan117 Hmm the patches did not mention anything about Windshear. Bash and Stagger are both the same meaning. What I meant by 100% chance to stagger is that each basic attack staggers an enemy, the description says when you do a power attack but basic attacks gives the effect also. The stagger only lasts 1.5 seconds and they cannot be bashed while staggering, so what i do is just recklessly swing at em
