  • Those open boxcars were just ripe for jumping in and hitching a ride

  • 562 axles. you are correct, and that is one monster train. any idea on the total tonnage there?

  • i love how up makes u think their trains are endless and as soon as u think that it ends i bet they do that to piss u off

  • 133

  • what ia the frieght smbol of this freight train and where iscoming from and where it going to Aribitar

  • Nice long hog. A lot of those older looking cars are owned by short lines or leasing companies.

Because of the economy, a lot of system boxes are being rounded up and scrapped out. We just had 75 SP types head to Wisconsin for an appointment with the torch.

  • where are the longest trains in the world found?

  • Australia ore trains. Search YouTube, and you'll find a video of a 600 car train or something ridiculous like that.

  • The flat car full of wheels will throw off your axle count ;)

  • I counted 134 cars without the locos, and I don't believe I miscounted- don't quote me on it. I could be wrong, because according to my calculations, the number of axles came out to 566. I had to have counted an extra. 133 then.

  • Tehachipi is a great place to watch trains.

  • i counted 135 without the engines...

  • Hobo transport.

  • Its actually 139 cars w/locos(3 in front and 2 in back)

  • This looks like Woodford.

  • Indeed!

  • I just uploaded a shot from there, and nice shot you got.

  • gotta do more with less now, i suppose. keeps the fuel costs down. and to the person who asked why we build the stuff so big, europe and africa and most places, don't have 2 mountain ranges to cross, and ya'll don't run 2- 2 1/2 mile long trains either, i've been to europe, them trains where shorter than hell.

  • 134 cars I believe and regarding the 12-15 SD40-2s, that sort of thing just isn't economically viable these days. Modern railroading is all about Unit reductionm fuel reduction and of course emissions reduction. Come on chap, keep up.

  • Amazing!!

  • Nice 122 cars! but What is with UP and BNSF running 2 engines on the rear..That's lazy! Put those suckers mid train like the SP did! AND todays diesels suck! 5 engines total? It was better years ago when SP put 12 to 15 SD40T's on a train!! that's balls out!

  • why you american ppl have everything BIG ??

  • go big or don't go at all

  • I hear that!

  • has any1 ever walk through moffat tunnel? all 6.2 miles of it? what was it like?

  • I am so thankful. Thanks for sharing

  • the longest train ive seen @ tehachapi was Approx. 2.5 miles long, no joke, it was a BNSF intermodal w/ doublestacks and autoracks led by a warbonnet

  • Nice!

  • lol wow those ttx wellcars have deffinately seen better days..i would have laughed too

  • you could count the axles on the flatcars! great video Karl. I hardly ever see UP on the pass.

  • You guys are great counters (I was much better counting as a child) My arms were tired holding the camera so long...need to get the tripod out more often!

  • Amazing great video Karl ,134 cars, long train,in Netherlands and Germany trains max 47 cars.700 Meters long.
