He was able to move his arms, but seemed to lack reflexes or strength in them. He has had a loss of function in his arms, even if not a total paralysis.
The term quadriplegic/paraplegic is determined by the level of injury. He is considered a incomplete quadriplegic just like I am. We both are capable of moving our arms. I have limited use of my fingers. I am lucky to have the amount of movement that I do. So is he.
Quads often can move their arms, just not as well as most people.
If you watch the video he doesn't put his arms out to break his fall - that's how he broke his ribs. He clearly has difficulty moving his arms, even though he can move them somewhat.
You shouldn't have to be "trained" to know not to dump someone out of a wheelchair.

So it is not unusual for an officer to be skeptical about his quadriplegic status considering he was arrested for TRAFFIC VIOLATION! I think some cops bring their private issues into their work-sites. Remember the white cop (s) beating the crap out of a black retired teacher in the French Quarter in New Orleans, just after the Katrina event and that was caught on a cam. Would you call that racist? Some people would say yes, some would disagree. I think cops deserve higher wages, better training and once in awhile, they deserve some kind of a recognition (a parade for them and firefighters).

I think the New Orleans situation probably could have had racist motivations but I can't say anything for sure since I didn't see it. I also agree that police do need way better training, better pay, recognition, and HIGHER QUALIFICATIONS TO BE HIRED.

I wonder how many of these anti police remarks are being made by those with criminal records, or those so liberal that regardless of the circumstances, they would want the heads of anybody involved or nearby. The incident in no way should be treated as a felony, but as a misdemeaner or "high" Felony's are very serious crimes which this isn't. civil litigation is the remedy for this. I'm also curious as to whether they dropped the charges this person was arrested for.

He was able to move his arms, but seemed to lack reflexes or strength in them. He has had a loss of function in his arms, even if not a total paralysis.

The term quadriplegic/paraplegic is determined by the level of injury. He is considered a incomplete quadriplegic just like I am. We both are capable of moving our arms. I have limited use of my fingers. I am lucky to have the amount of movement that I do. So is he.

Quads often can move their arms, just not as well as most people.
If you watch the video he doesn't put his arms out to break his fall - that's how he broke his ribs. He clearly has difficulty moving his arms, even though he can move them somewhat.
