I grew up believing that the Soviet Union may bomb us into eternity at any moment. The threat was real. I remember when my mother let me stay up late one night as an eleven year old school boy because she said we may not be here tomorrow. It was 1962 during the Cuban missile crises. I remember the events of 9-11 and wondering if more planes would crash into the White House or whether a nuclear device would be detonated. Terrorists threaten us every day and in many ways.
