  • Liberace was not only a great entertainer and loved by many but the way he could play a piano has never been repeated by anyone. Rest in Peace Liberace - you will always be remembered by those that loved your playing.

  • Nobody can ever deny this man had talent

  • @radstorm

    damn right...the guy had skills...

  • Hahahaha, 16 to the bar, the beast

  • man liberace sure was a beast with the piano!

  • Dude could play...

  • my favorite old queen of all time!

  • Just amazing folks not even born before he died are coming here to watch. God bless you young people. You carry this forward for others to enjoy.

  • a true entertainer always involves the audience...they dont just go there , do their thing and go home ! he was amazing!

  • That was amazing

  • Holy crap Michael Douglas is perfect for the role as Liberace. I hope that film gets made soon

  • a brilliant entertainer and under-rated musician

  • i remember the boogie woogie craze . . . all the kids gettin crazy on the high school dance floor . . the 80's were the best!

  • I never knew Willy Wonker could play the piano so damn good!!!

  • leeberace bustin on tiny tim..... that's rich !!!

  • the best BWoogie player for my opinion love love you Maestro.

  • This gay guy could really stroke the ivories.

  • @number9scheme Is that what they're calling IT nowadays?

  • Legit.

  • So talented. This makes me happy. =]

  • Boo-ya-Kashaah!

  • I also read that Liberace was a devout Catholic. Interesting that he had much in common with Andy Warhol. Both of at least partial Eastern European heritage, both somewhat "different" from the mainstream, both underrated as artistic talents (and known more for their "gimmick"), and both devout Catholics.

  • Liberace is sort of a punchline based on his flamboyance, but he was quite the pianist and just as importantly quite the entertainer. Looks like folks had a good time at his shows and got to see some a nice mix of classical and contemporary music, and that's good enough in my book. I've also read he was quite the fan-friendly, hands on sort of celebrity, inviting the audience on the stage after his shows to check out his pianos and his wild costumes and jewelry. A real showman.

  • @peterp21 Try getting a job... oh nevermind I doubt you could get hired anywhere. So the tax payers like me flip the bill for the welfare check so people like you can watch movies all day. Sad world we live in.

  • I grew up listening to Liberace and all genres of music. Wish he were still around. I never tire of listening to him play.

  • Wow

  • And people called him gay.

  • The only man who makes Elton John look like a second-rate fag.

    Liberace was THE MAN!

  • I wish my brother george was here!!

  • Liberace played all the music genres well, not just one, but all of them. Was he the greatest "classical" pianist ever? perhaps not, Horowitz comes to mind but name one other pianist who could play ALL the genres as well as Liberace. The snobs out there owe him for bringing classical music to so many people who might not otherwise have listened. Many of those people support the symphony today, I'm one of them. Greatest "overall" pianist of the 20th century? I think so, who else qualifies?

  • AMAZING....wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that guy is simply amazing. LIke others who have written here, I was far from being a fan of his as a youngster but I can see now how brilliant he was.

  • A piano master. Gosh I'd like to go back to '69.

  • WOOOOHOOOOOOOW :d Yeah

  • i normaly dont like museic like the piano but...........damn thats good

  • What a showman!

  • BOOOOOYAH!!!!

  • EVERY ROCK & PROG METAL KEYBOARDISTS 2DAY SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR LIBERACE. THEY WILL NEVER EXIST BECAUSE OF THESE LEGENDS. \m/

  • Holy shit THAT is amazing!

  • HOLY SHIT!!

  • as a kid i thought he was just weird.i love music and he entertained with a kind spirit.now i think what a pompous ass i was when he plays.my respect is emense now.

  • 2:45 holy shit!

  • @teatime90 AMEN to that!!

  • Hell yeah!!!

  • I still can't believe he's gay, I didn't find out until I watched Austin Powers for the first time... but that doesn't matter... This guy knows how to play the piano for real with some rhythm for reaaaaaalll. boooogie woooogieeeeee

  • Mmm, really good Boogie Woogie, frakkin' great wee tune!

Just me or do I hear where the Ghostbusters tune came from???

  • MAGIC FINGERS!! Amazing!

  • Boogie monster

  • This guy had to be a genius. He made millions and he played the piano. No one else could do that today

  • Thanks for posting this terrific Liberace video. The sheet music for the piano part on his"Boogie Woogie" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.

  • This gay dude rocks ! I'm here because of the Batman Television Series episode; "The Devil's Fingers"

  • Yes, Liberace was a flaming homosexual, but he never shoved it in our face, so why not just appreciate his artistry as it was presented? Everyone has their private life, but Liberace was pretty discreet so let's not delve into it.

  • @thrummer1953 Although Liberace might not have been my favorite performer, he certainly had a great talent and it was a shame that he died when he did. I'm also aware that he was homosexual and to me it made no difference to me whether he was straight or gay. Liberace was what he was and once again it was a shame that he died before he time. People enjoyed him and still enjoy him even though nearly 25 years have passed since his untimely passing.

  • Jesus FUCKING Christ.

  • say what u like about his style etc. but this guy was one hell of a pianist

  • It's sad to read the museum has closed. I was lucky enough to see Liberace as a 12 year old. If I was ever to learn piano, I'd want to play his style. Magnificent.

  • I dont care thats hes a poof hes the best

  • One hell of a piano player. What a lot of people dont realise is that he was one of the toughest bare knuckle fighters on the East Coast at the time, putting his reputation and career on the line time and again against all comers who thought they could knock him out. A natural boxer with concussive power in both hands, Mike Tyson once said he based his early fighting style on Liberace but tried to be less savage. He was a good piano player. Liberace I mean.

  • Beyond Sick!!! WOW!!

  • Pure Showmanship!!! What else can you say?

  • He was great on video, but SPECTACULAR in person. His Vegas show was unreal. Worth every penny. Truly a SHOWMAN!!!! He is sorely missed.

  • `That guy could play !! Great post.

  • man,... this guy knew how to sell!! ideal host!

  • Craig Ferguson sent me here

  • One of the all time best!

  • Wouldn't stand this type of thing as a kid, but now I know better. Lib was hands down awsome. When in Vages get off the strip and go see the Liberace Museum.

  • @rdloorz Unfortunately, the museum closed last October.

  • @showmanlee NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @showmanlee that was a cool museum, i went there thinking it would be a joke but was really very impressed and learned alot about Liberace, I'm glad i got to see it before it closed

  • Now,THAT'S how you play the piano !!

  • Amazing!

46 people got dizzy and face planted onto the dislike button when he busted out 16 to the bar!

  • I really want to be able to play this song. But its hard as hell, non-surprisingly.

  • Obviously, he had a superior photographic memory. However, I heard a BBC producer say that when Liberace visited the UK, about once a year, he would go around & talk to many in the BBC building, from directors to cleaners - and he would remember their names from the prior year, & asked about their kids & relatives by name & their ongoing life stories, which he knew about, from the prior year, & chat in a very thoughtful & kind manner. Amazing.

  • that is really good

  • HEY!!!

  • I got shown my way here by Jared Leto but i have to say that Liberace is kick ass at piano!

  • thank heavens for youtube and people like showmanlee to bring us videos like this of the greatest entertainer in my lifetime. As a teenager I loved his show, his style, his piano playing. He was by far, the most upbeat, positive spirit in showbusiness. He never failed to make me feel good after one of his shows.

  • for me, he was the greatest piano player ever, he could play it all.

  • For me, Liberace will always be the world's greatest entertainer. He completely mastered the piano and presented it in a way that made it enjoyable to millions the world over.

  • "My clothes may be funny but they are making me the money." - Best Quote Ever.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • If Justin Beiber could play piano like this than maybe i'd give him a chance but for now he's still the worst entertainer in the world...^^

  • you never know when tiny tim might be in the audience

    i laughed so hard

  • Who was the highest paid entertainer in the 1950s? Elvis Presley? Nope. Liberace.

  • Liberace - A great entertainer but most of all a great talent. He always seemed to enjoy each and every preformance as much as the audience. Always seemed like such a truly nice person, a little gay (or a lot) but he even made that acceptable in a time when it wasn't always acceptable...

  • How could people dislike this genius performance? I bet they don't know how to play the piano?

  • Comment removed

  • Got to hand it to the man,,, he knew what showmanship was. He was over the top in every way. And because of that he was known internationlly.

He was well aware of what people thought of him, and he turned it into a big joke.

After a journalist in England made some disparageing comments about him,, he replied... "Your words hurt my feelings,, and I'm crying all the way to the bank."

    what a character!

  • Quick story, my buddy actual met him once. His friend was gay and knew Liberace. Anyhow they went up to Liberace's room and had drinks with him. He's got pictures of it. He doesn't show anyone because people might think he was gay. He's married w/2 kids. Still pretty awesome, to have drinks with a megastar.

  • I always admired him when I was a kid......great person....miss him and the water show he did also....

  • OMG...so amazing

  • 45 dislikes ? i guess there are 45 people out there who are better on the piano than liberace.....NOT !!

  • This man practiced at the piano with a fervor that made other professional pianists look like they neglected the organ. He dominated and was the highest paid entertainer of the 1950's, not Elvis Presley.

  • As far as overtly hetrosexual, overly masculine piano players go, he sure kicks the shit out of Elton John's ass...

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY COW!!! He's fast!!!

  • He was banging the shit out of that piano. And the piano is liking it.

  • he is/was the only one to know this song well enough to do it backwards!!

  • I don't know if anyone knows it but the "king of Bling", Liberace's brother George was also a talented musician. He was Liberace's business partner, band leader and accompanied his more famous brother on the violin.

  • bravo!

  • 45 people didn't get to shout hey!

Amazing. true preformer, true piano player, true expert. 16 to the bar is insane!

    the true definition of entertainment.

    4 thumbs up!

  • Wow

  • god i wish he was still here

  • This guy was the original King of Bling Bling.

Now you have fools with gold capped teeth and other nonsense. But Liberace was the King of the Bling Bling.

  • awesome!

  • wonderful !

  • HES so amazing. I wish I could be half the piano player that he is

  • HEY!! I love that part :D

  • I couldn't help but smile as I watched this

  • My GOSH!!!!! He's a GENIUS!

  • hey HEY!!!!! HEY!!!

  • Not bad for a classically trained Tchaikovsky finalist. A real and solidly educated talent!

  • HEY!

  • Ted vittoria is his biggest fan

  • I think he just shredded that piano.

  • My Dad saw him live...and when he was playing he said "You may laugh at the way I am, and the way I dress...but I laugh my ass all the way to the bank every night."

  • @seasonofpain All right!!! I love it.lol

  • @seasonofpain Superb!

  • You would expect some great musician with a name like "Liberace" to be born in some unknown country, not Wisconson of all places! He was truly an artist, no other word can describe him. The way he played piano was nothing short of astounding.

  • "I'm gonna play that part again so you can all shout HEY!"

    Awesome

  • Liberace made my mother want to try chopsticks duet by her self at age 16 and she practiced and succeeded thanks to him I get to listen to an awesome song by two of my favorite pianists

  • 1:17 GR8 !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is this piece called?

  • @ edwlowkowski

  • :)

  • Look at his hands! LOL!

  • This makes me smile so much.

  • "I hope i didn't leave anybody out" hahahaha

  • Liberace was just plain fun. For him the piano was a big playground and he invited us to join in on the fun. That was Liberace. My idea of piano playing is very different from his, but that is not a criticism at all - we all can set our own style, that does not mean that someone else's isn't wonderful too.

  • @rekab7070 i remember when he was on TV and i was into Rock & Roll.i used to think he was just an old guy on a piano and was strickly L7.when i look back with these clips i see i was L7.great talent and suberb entertainer.

  • They don't make them like this anymore, and never will again.

  • gay or not he's still The King Of Bling !

  • He had a fucking magnetic personality and he was a total boss on the keys.

  • Liberace gay

  • You could slice cheese with that nose!

  • thoughts? holy shit he's good..lol

  • he made everyone else on the piano look like a fool

  • Liberace wasn't gay, he was so straight he could prance around as a Nancy and it didn't affect his masculinity any.

  • I didin't even know that he was gay..... i thought he was a pimp

  • This is a real showman, others are only tries

  • his piano skills are INSANE!!

  • The guy had phenomenal skills....gay or not he knew how to wail !!!

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH CRANKBY1, I WILL TRY THIS AND SEE HOW I MAKE OUT.

  • @yarddoggg My pleasure. lf you want to see the ultimate use of this two finger pattern, check out Albert Ammons boogie Woogie Dream. Half way through the video he changes to this form and proceeds to lay it down heavy through to the finish...using just a finger and thumb across an octave.

  • I watched this and found myself smiling and laughing out loud, because Liberace made me feel good.. which is something I can say about JS Bach and only a few other famous musicians.

  • he was gay?! lol ;o)

  • charming, joyfull and Liberace is so sweet

  • can anybody show me how to play the left hand notes from this video?

  • @yarddoggg lnitially liberace is using a simple 2 digit rolling bass, where the little finger is repeated / echoed by the thumb 1 octave higher. Typically in open key the notation would be, C-E-G-A-Bflat-A-G-E..then to F-A-C-D-Eflat-D-C-A then to G-B-D-E-F-E-D-B...Then back to the beginning. lf preferred, the two flats and F in the third can be shifted to C,E and G respectively. A typical sequence is; 1st repeated,2nd repeated,3rd once,2nd once,& back to 1st. and so on. Hope that helps..Have fun !

  • @yarddoggg The pattern given here is the left hand only one he uses whilst talking to the audience. The others are...shall we say...a little trickier to handle.

  • HEY!

  • Unprecedented ......

  • nice

  • Holy Cow! Got to give the man his due!!! If I was there live, that would DEFINITELY deserve a HECK of a STANDING OVATION!!!

  • two bass drums... but why???

  • @saxymax No double kick?

  • Was für ein Genie-fantastisch

  • He was great. I was at one of his Concerts in Las Vegas, got up to go to the Bathroom he stopped the Show and said where are you going???Omg too funny.....lol

  • This guy kicked butt. thas entertainment!

  • amazing

  • thats serious ivory ticklage

  • Now you know why this man was eearning a million dollars a year way back in the 1950s and was the worlds highest paid entertainer.

he also discovered Barbara Streisand. He can sure knock a tune out on that joe anna. I don't think I can think of anyone who can play as well as Liberace past or present

Thanks for sharring a fantastic video from one of the greatest entertainers and pianists of our time

  • The man was a legend in his own time and many people still miss his style, grace, pure talent, and sense of humor. As with many famous entertainers, their personal lives and preferences seem to be of more importance to others who are critical, but sadly do not focus on the most important issues of what contributions that talented people offer to the world and the mark they have left once they have gone. A tormented man to be sure, but what a showman and a world class player.
