OMG!!!! I love it!!! Thank you for posting this. THE WORDS: " Royal child! Adopted in the royal family! Royal Child! Kept by the power of God!!!! " - That's all that they're saying and then the verse
AWESOME stuff! There were a couple of Bishop/Reverend Samuel Kelsey videos on here a while back. Glad to see some again. This guy was absolutely AMAZING!!! I've got a few tunes by him from around the 1946-1953 period. I believe he lived to the ripe old age of 95. Thanks for posting this!
This Is My Pastor Late Bishop Samuel Kelsey, 18 yrs NOW, Born into Temple COGIC. With the my family, The Shabazz's. my favorite song from bishop is " Little Boy"
I was born into Temple COGIC! Bishop Kelsey blessed me after my mom had me. My mother was raised in this church as well. We left after he died when I was about 10. We used have some good church!
I Love This Man of God!!. Im only 20 but knew of him since i was knee high. I have the tape from when they was with the blind boys and Inez Andrews. Can Somebody please give me the lyrics to this song?
ApostleJD2, you are good with our DC Jurisdictional history. And yes Lord, Lena, Sudell and Jacee were very faithful members to the Temple and to Bishop. I am VERY GRATEFUL to have been born and raised in the Jurisdiction. I also had the distinct privilege of serving and being Bishop's nurse from 87-93.
Sis. Sudell Williams, Sis. Jones, Sis. Matthews, Sis. Ryan, Sis. & Bro. Spears, Sis. Holmes, and Mother Hampton were Bishop's main members. Bishop could count on them in any kind of weather or condition. I really miss the old Temple COGIC. Things are just not the same. Church was always so jubilistic back then

Thanks for that info on Sis. Lena Phillips Jones: I was a member of Bishop Sherman Howard's church (New Bethel) and I too remember those good old days in DC.
He was the founding pastor of the Kelsey Temple COGIC (then known as The Temple COGIC) in Washington, DC. He was the founding father of Pentecostalism in the Nation's Capital. His contemporaties were the late Bishop Smallwood E. Williams of Bible Way, Elder Solomon Lightfood Micheaux of the Gospel Spreading Church, and Bishop H. C. Brooks of the Way of the Cross Church. He ordained my father in 1977 and was the longtime COGIC Bishop in Wash, DC.
Thank you for that information. He reminds me of the late W.K. Gordon here in Louisiana. You always felt the spirit in every service. Do you have any of his recordings on youtube
Yes she was. I am not sure if she is deceased. I left DC in 1999. I can check with some of the saints at the Temple. Sis. Jacee Matthews died a couple of years ago. Evangelist Sudell Williams is still alive; and Bishop John I. Little is still with us and continues to pastor Greater Deliverance COGIC with his wife Pastor ViCurtis Little.
Sis. Lena Jones is deceased. She was known to sing Lord Send the Rain on Sunday Nights at Temple. Sis. Lena Jones was a very dedicated member to holiness and the Church of God in Christ. She became a member of Temple in the early 40s and remained a member until 2000 when she died
I did some further research since my last comment 2 month ago and what you said is right. As a former bibleway member and a COCIG member for years I feel embarrassed at my last comment.
Buy God bless you and thanks for the info. Bishops Williams & Kelsey used to be friends in the day when apostolic & COGIC didn't mix.
We all make mistakes. I was a former COGIC member who was ordained by Bishop Crudup and was born in Bishop Sherman Howard's church-later came into Bible Way in Philadelphia under Bishop B. F. Peterson, Jr.. They drilled the history into us coming up and I witnessed the freiendship between Bishop Kelsey and Bishop Williams. These were great men and they fostered true Pentecostal fellowship regardless of doctrinal difference on baptism, etc.
I remember those days at Temple. Bishop really loved a service of Jubilee. Sis. Sudell Williams, and Jessie Ryan would cut those steps and the whole church would go up in flames. Bishop would say "O Glory!"
@ApropheticVoice I'm a Royal Child Adopted in the Royal Family I'm a Royal Child Kept by the Power of God I would not be a liar Tell you the reason why Afraid my Lord would call me Wouldn't be ready to die... Call: I'm a Royal Child
Response: Adopted in the Royal Family
Call: I'm a Royal Child
Response: Kept by The Power of God
Call: Would not be a liar, tell you the reason why, adopted in the Royal Family, kept by the Power of God.
Call: Would not be a sinner, tell you the reason why, if my Lord should call me, wouldn't be ready to die...
Then back to the top verse...

Bishop Kelsey preceeded Bishop SE Williams of Bible Way by 4 years. Bishop Kelsey started the First Church of God in Christ (The Temple) on 7-4-1923.
