  • @Floppyfishh ooh thank youuuu!! and i figured it outt its so much easyer than the way everybody else does!! you just run it from the CD, select make USB startub disk... and allocate space for saving settings. easy ;)

    thanks for the vids!

  • is there a way to put linux on a flash drive so that it keeps files like a regular hard drive would so you wouldn't lose your stuff?

  • search google using term "persistent install on usb ubuntu"

  • hey I just installed version 9.1 (i think) on my flash drive last night, and spent like 2 hours connecting ubuntu to my network/ printer/ youtube and custonizing it. well i boot it up this mornin and it didnt save any of my desktop settings or anyhting that i did.

any idea what it (or I) did wrong?

  • man,u did nothing wrong... this tutorial does not create persistent install....it creates only bootable usb...

  • thnx guys 4 support.. this video has now more than 10k views..

  • Demo version! Register! To remove!

    Get camstudio, nab.

  • thanx 4 tip, dude...

  • it is meant to install ubuntu not xp :(

  • is this work????

  • Of course... It does...

  • lol

the dude with the 4gb usb stick is stupid

all u gotta do is add the -persistant command at the end of ubunutu launch

and then it saves your changes :)

  • I used VMware instead. I did this with my 4Gb flash drive gave 2.5gb partition for Full install Ubuntu and another partition 1.2Gb for my files. also did with external USB HDD 4Gb partition for ubuntu and the rest for my files. I also installed compiz works great if the host computer doesn't have proprietary graphics cards. Cool portable OS btw.
