I play the Brute in Team Deathmatch and Arena (recently added). I am considering getting the Nova Colt for my secondary weapon so I can shoot more precisely on targets that take advantage of my low speed to escape. I am also considering the Heavy Shield pack to keep me alive in close combat. To save energy I take Potential Energy to capitalize on the mass AOE in the game.

@MrAwesomePacman - I use right click for jump/jetpack, and space to toggle ski instead of holding it in. i believe vol1ition said in one of his videos that he uses something similar.

I found it a lot easier to ski with those controls.

@vol1tion In reply to both you and @requisim, the Ranger typically uses the assault rifle, a hitscan weapon which is frowned upon in the Tribes community generally.

@ClaytonStaples The AR used to be hitscan, but they changed it to shoot fast moving projectiles a few patches ago. It's more balanced than it was before, but spinfusors are still more fun to use IMO.

You missed a important part of the fractals. It is very obvious when someone throws a bright green thing. Then it has a very obvious "start up" time as a bright green thing sits on the ground then slowly starts up before it starts hurting anyone.

It's enough time for even a heavy class to just backpedal away from. So they are most suited as temporary area control than actually reliable on killing anyone who is paying attention.

And a GREAT role for brute on Bella is flag room defense!

fractals are ridiculously OP. 2 brutes can alternatively just keep throwing fractals on the flag or, say, the opening to the middle drop area in the gen room in bella omega as you see here. this effectively shuts down the entire area for a ridiculously long time.
