  • I am American. Just hold onto those ponies a moment! In actuality (being an insider), I am here to let you know that in fact Americans overwhelmingly gush over the people of Europe, and this is especially true of the English! Yet you can be certain that nearly all would never show it! I cannot even begin to share the unending ways in which this is true... let me see.... history, language, education, traditions going back far into the past. The arts, music and painting, lit and architecture!

  • seven mistresses , busy fella !

  • I dont know why i get so annoyed with Americans always acting like they know things. Its english history, should be an english historian.

  • But then who will teach the World History class??

  • @SorryWTFAreYouSaying Agreed - americans are no more than the beggar who grew above his stature. they all look down on europe and britain, while not even knowing, understanding or realising that they are all our descendants. it's disgusting.

  • @hcvang Perfectly said. To be honest Americans should focus on today and it's own impact on the world seeing as it is a huge power globally, other than focusing on the history that has fuck all to do with them. What Americans fail to realise is that without us they wouldn't have the country they have today, they are our descendants. Americans are not cultured, and believe they are better than the world, they don't realise the world just looks at them as an ignorant country.

  • Elizabeth Howe, in The First English Actresses, says she was "the most famous Restoration actress of all time, possessed of an extraordinary comic talent." By Charles, Nell had two sons, Charles Beauclerk (1670-1726) and James Beauclerk (1671-1680). Charles was the first Earl of Burford, later Duke of St. Albans.

  • Called "pretty, witty Nell" by Samuel Pepys, she has been called a living embodiment of the spirit of Restoration England and has come to be considered a folk heroine, with a story echoing the rags-to-royalty tale of Cinderella.

  • Eleanor "Nell" Gwyn (or Gwynn or Gwynne) (1650 - 14 November 1687), was one of the earliest English actresses to receive prominent recognition, and a long-time mistress of King Charles II.

  • The funniest story shows Nell's wittiness. Progressing in her carriage, the mob, thinking the occupant was the Catholic Louise de Kerouaille, began to pelt the coveyance with mud. Nell put up with it for a little while and then, letting down the window, she leant out and bellowed, "Desist, good people! Tis I, the Protestant whore!"

  • She was a vindictive, greedy whore like the rest.

  • @zimnaya You left out a good part: the crown then cheered, and she went on her way.

  • Louise Carwall? Please! Louise de Kerouaille, pronounced Care-roo-eye...

  • Nell Gwynne once famously stated that she was the only protestant whore in Charles' court! Not very fitting of a man who was supposedly head of the protestant Church of England

  • I'm related to Nell Gwyn :D

  • Charles did NOT meet Louise de Kerouelle in France! She came to England with his sister Henrietta and was subsequently planted in his court as a spy by Louis XIV after Henrietta's death. Also, as others have commented, Barbara Villiers and George, Duke of Buckingham were first cousins...check out published Charles II biographer Antonia Fraser for more details.

  • too bad nell was a whore

  • Mr. Stuart says he has no evidence that the Villiers' were related, as he says in the video. Thanks for viewing!

  • Could you provide the title of one of your sources and I can bring it to Mr. Stuart's attention? Thanks.

  • From WIKIPEDIA: born Barbara Villiers on the 12th of May 1641 (22 May New Style) in the parish of St. Margaret's, Westminster Abbey, the only child of William Villiers, 2nd Viscount Grandison (making her a cousin of George Villiers, 2nd Duke of Buckingham),

  • nope she was a cousin of Buckingham and they both had sex with each other despite being related....dirty gits..

  • ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm what?

  • Many of the Stuart mistress were of Welsh descent, Nell's family were originally from Wales. I wish I'd been around then!

  • King Charles and the Stuarts appeared to have had a selection of Welsh women as their Mistresses (Nell Gwynne's family originally came from Wales). Ummmmmmmmm...

  • One could study women like Nell Gwynn in English history and learn a great deal.

  • I love the stories of the reign of Charles II. I love Nelly Gwynn & Barbara, all of them!
