  • Not sure why I thought you were a guy originally, music reminded me of one of my all time favorites, fella kuti, you are an Awsome artist, check out williamcorleto on YouTube

My friend and I jamming acoustic, just want to share a little light with you in return

    Namaste

  • @sampsoncash Probably because I'm one of the first, if not the first black woman doing time lapse oil painting video's as a full production. Fella Kuti is remarkable. I will check out the channel you suggested asap. :-) Thank you for everything. Stay in touch. I have new one's coming soon enough.

  • @sampsoncash Can you message me the video... and tell me which one you are?! ps. I play acoustic guitar, sing, song write! I have yet to upload it online though.

  • Brilliant! Love the music too.

  • Always mind blowing watching you work :-)

  • I love your work..You are one of the best i had seen....

  • I love the freedom with which you paint. Makes me a little jealous, actually. Lol. Blogged about it on blogger. Can't wait to see more.

    Natiq...

  • Wow really love your Art and cool name

  • Absolutely amazing creation. Her holding the heart in her hand spoke volumes. I really liked this painting Queen.

  • Hi sis! glad to see you here, but you're comment posted on the wrong video. I think this comment is for "When We play".

  • Hello Candy, you are really talent !!Great art work......5*

  • this is badas

  • Great artwork!!

  • To keep it short... Its amazing how you made this one really come to "life" although its abstract. It has such great 3D effect engraved. i cant compliment your color combos enough. And leaving the piece and being able to reconnect with it, only shows what a great artist you are. ...your energy never departed. As usual, I'm blown away by the technique you do when you create them eyes, so powerful. They're not only captivating, but makes you feel the emotions. Wonderful piece, so unique!

  • Now who could be gloomy looking at that? Very cool as usual, my dear.

  • awe, that's sweet. You know, that's actually a big part of this painting. Such sad, yet hopeful eyes, combined with this fun vibe, enjoyment of what is...regardless. Making the most of it all, yet not being untouched by life's hardships. I'd imagine she is coming out of a deep sadness and attempting to manifest her own happiness, and even display it for others as a testiment.

  • Beautifully done Dessa! I wouldn't have guessed you'd fit in the umbrella and most of the body! Love how her head progresses into the umbrella's curve lines :) Nice concept!!

  • Thank you Akiey! The first night after painting, I took a step back and looked at it, and suddenly saw something that wasn't there yet...and I saw something similar to what I ended up painting. I intended to put a hand put scrapped that while painting. Another artist here challenged me to paint a parasol, and I saw that idea fitting into the shape of her head. That felt risky for me, I won't lie, but I went with it anyway. Afterall, I like strange things.

  • Beautiful work as usual !!!! Keep it comin'.-MADUKWU

  • Thank you Madi ;)

  • I really liked your painting because its colorful and beautiful it looks like from watching your video it took a long time for you to do this painting and this music is so catchy i really like it what kind of music is this ? Great job Ladessa !!!!!!!

  • It took a few days or so, because I only had a couple of hours each night to paint...most of which was me uploading footage. I'm not sure how the music is classified. It's a band, and their music really ranges, but it's all soulful. Like a mix of reggae, jazz, blues... and so forth, very cultural. like the music you'd hear at a festival. I'll ask them what genre they consider themselves in.

  • Thank you Ladessa please find out what they are iam tired of listening to the same old rap music

  • Ladessa, Thanks for allowing your protected fruits to be harvested on life's beaches...

The upscaled beat yielded the drum...

As your umbrella'd 3rd eye yielded the plum...

    Much Respect!...

    Ty...

  • Thank you for your poetic commentary. ;)

  • Very talented, too bad they froze your count. It's a really cool video.

  • Thank you, yeah that really sucks. They froze my view count like 3 hours after i uploaded this video. you tube is really acting dumb lately. After all this time, it's still frozen and i know i have far more views than it's showing. Not sure if they will ever fix it, considering I contacted then numerous times and I still have no answer.

  • incredible!

  • Thank you so much.

  • Love your style, its awsome!

    *****

  • Thank you Amanda... means a lot coming from you.

  • Another beautiful painting. The following is just a feeling I got from watching the painting. There's a good chance it's not grounded in anything, but it's just an impression. You can't really see any hair even though I suppose it could be hidden underneath. She reminded me of a patient I met undergoing Chemo. She was clearly going through a lot, but she always tried to remain upbeat and positve. I see a similar mix of vulnerability and hope in this painting.

  • Thank you ;) the feeling you got from this painting is accurate, aside for the cancer patient reference... that part is subjective, it's neither true or false. However, you're very perceptive as usual, and cancer is a subject close to my heart. In general this painting is definitely about "suffering and smiling". That duality that life has. She has her protective umbrella, things are looking bleak, yet she's wearing her swim suit, and cutesy earrings & trying to enjoy & make the most of it all.

  • Also, it could be argued that the "umbrella" with it's batty style, could be her hair! I'm just putting that out there to say that I tend to do just enough to support the overall feeling, and I leave the rest somewhat abstract with symbolism as well, so that the viewer is allowed their own perception. It goes w/o saying that it's not pure realism, there is usually just enough of recognizable reality or shapes to connect with, no more, no less. So it's really nice to know you felt the concept.

  • I love your work!!! you rock!!!!!

  • :) awe, wow... Thank youuu

  • Thank you Martha! I'm so glad to be back. the only problem now is my view count has been stuck on 201 since last night when I went to bed. i have new comments, and views and people contacting on other sites telling me they saw the video, but no view counts to show for it. I visited You Tube "Help" and apparently there's some new view count program they're using that has HUGE flaws and bugs. That sucks. We work hard to gain viewers, only for them to mess it up. Oh well, hope they fix it ASAP.

  • brilliant, affective and effective... I am a huge fan.

  • wow, thank you so much. I really value and appreciate that a lot. ...and it's nice to see you here. I'm a huge fan of you being a huge fan. :)

  • that's pretty sweet... Lady, You keep up the good work and letting us in on it... and I will keep enjoying. Please announce any future displays/shows... it would be an honour... in any event- You are appreciated!

  • I will... and you are too.

  • can we send in painting requests??? is that something you wouldnt mind doing as well?

  • Ummm... you could...try me. :D I mean, I never been too interested in that with painting, because I typically paint from a trance state of mind. I could however take a idea, or concept, or even a type of figure/person and create something if the person is dynamic or interesting to me. There's pieces of you in some of my work, combined with pieces of other people and or their energy.

  • I wish I could draw! lol And paint and stuff! SHE IS WONDERFUL! A boy oh boy is life a beach on a gloomy day! lol I love being able to see you as you are painting! It brings so much life to the painting! the thought that goes into it and energy. I knew she would have a green bathing suit on being that green is your color. Beautiful Work Sis! Love you!!!!! And love this painting!

  • Thank you sis! LOL at green being my color! Yeah... maybe it's that Sullivan Irish part of me/us. :) Do you remember that time I had you draw with me? I still have that... I saw the potential, and still enjoy pulling it out because the way you think was so interesting. I bet you don't even remember. lol. oh and uh, it's weird seeing the back of my head just goin and goin... lol.

  • Hi Ladessa, i just love it. I've been wondering how you've been doing! The painting looks great as usual...... You are blessed!

  • Thank you Angel-a! I'm good, just had a bit of a set-back with my old laptop dying and all. plus, I do so much, web design and running a few sites, poetry, and a few radio interviews and etc. Hey... make sure you send me your new videos so I can keep up. That's the only way I really see them. I like the last one a lot.

  • Cool as always. Ya, new editing software is always fun and a big part of this whole thing, eh? Looks good and good to see some new work from you.

  • Thanks... it's good to FINALLY have something new. You already know that computer crash thing really slowed me down. Oh and yeah, how the work is presented in video is truly a part of the creative process now. lol. By the way, I took the parasol thing and brought it to mars. ;)

  • The ear rings are funky. Looks like you started a hand and opted out? And YA, the parasol! I almost forgot! Next is a fedora?

  • I did! I had a change of mind... oil paint rocks for that...lol...wipes right out with little fuss! i may try to integrate a fedora, or some warped version of it. lol. I think the dictionary thing is more intersting though. I ran out of white oil paint, so on monday I should be able to get some and sometime this week post a vlog about the dictionary thing. ps. post a vid response with your parasol painting.

  • wonderful painting, I like the colors you used and I alway like the way you paint eyes and the lips look good enough to kiss, lol

  • *giggles*...juicy!

thank you :) ...made me giddy and reflect on the work

  • nice painting! love the zooms in the video!

  • :D lol... thanks... new updated program. It was such a pain to re-learn it just to do this vid.

  • Awesome painting!

  • Thank you! this doesn't suck at all for my first comment on this vid. ;) appreciation.
